  1. With the help of Candurin, I got my remote auto start sorted out and installed today!
  2. Are the ESP transferable? If I decide to trade in my vehicle for another ford can I transfer it to the new one or get a refund on the balance of it? Thanks in advance.
  3. Thanks for bringing this to the groups attention.
  4. Happy Holidays Welcome to the Forum. I have the same issue when you do. Was thinking about reverting back to the previous version of sync. Just haven't given it that much thought.
  5. She's Alive!!! They were over booked what should have been 15 min turned into a few hours. But sh!t happens. He asked me why didn't I go to chappman ford on the blvd in philly? I asked him if they were affiliated? The look on his face said it all. He said we don't discuss them. They wanted to charge me to program the key to my car and then charge me again for programming the remote start. He said that's why they don't discuss them. There was a small delay as one of the techs removed my original key instead of setting it as a back up. When he went to add it back in they ended up deleting one of the remote start keyfobs. They ended up resetting the system and sorting it out. My lady borrowed the car and set the gps to avoid tolls. When I used it to go home, I stared at the screen like huh wtf 2hrs+ 95+ miles......Of coourse I figured that out when I pulled into my drive way!! Good thing I decided to use waze on my phone. I know traffic can be bad on the atl parkway, but 2hrs+ it isn't that bad during shore season unless there is a pile up. Thanks once again for the assistance and the suggestion on the dealership. I'll be paying them a visit when my warranty ends up. 100 miles round trip give or take is worth honest service. Happy Holidays!!
  6. At first I was dismayed that I was not going to be able to install the antenna. Simply because I was not able to remove the lift gate motor cover. Ironically enough in my minds eye i focused on the fact that the tmps was behind the cargo pannel. I truly failed to realeyes (pun intended) that it is located on the rear of the cargo panel itself. After looking at the pictures in the walk through and the reviewing the instructional PDF that Candurin provided. Candurin mentions it above this post and yet I fixated on removing the panel to access the TMPS. LOL RIFF (remember that?) SMDH Its the only part that i could feel that had a plug that would receive the antenna cable. Looks exactly like the image included in the instructions and its identical to pic number 29 in the DIY walkthrough. I attached the antenna with the dual sided tape that was included. There was no zip ties included and although I did have some on hand I couldn't loop it through to secure it. I plugged it in and put everything back together. Tested the power fold down seat buttons and the liftgate button and all is well. Hopefully I am good to go for Wed. Thanks once again for your invaluable assistance.
  7. Thanks for the info. Time to start calling some dealerships to see if the antenna is in stock!
  8. This is not going to get done not least in the manner that I thought it would. I went to one homedpot and they were sold out. By time I got back from a different one the sun seems to be starting to go down. Since I don't have a garage and just my drive way I am the mercy of mother nature. I did manage to loosen the panel some to see if the antenna was installed and it is not. Just to be sure. It wouldn't be installed any other place than where you mentioned in the OP or is pictured in the walk through? Going to call and check and see if any of the dealers have it in stock. If not I'll shoot Benny a message at Levittown ford a message and see if he can get it to me in time to meet my appointment with Kevin. Thanks once again.
  9. From what I learned from installing the strut tower bar is that it pays to have the right tool for the job. I skimmed through the walk through and it states that it requires a T50 torx bit. I think I have one if not its off to home depot.
  10. LOL no not at all. You are a tremendous asset to the community. If you have seen it then at least I know I'm not going crazy. Ironically enough I just got back in from installing the hood pin switch. The wiring harness was already installed. Can you link me to the post that mentions it? Perhaps you can edit your OP and include it for those of us who are lacking their black belt in google fu. Ironically enough I looked everywhere but here. I'll look for it and throw something warmer than tshirt and shorts and see if my lady doesn't mind me taking a break from destiny. Thanks once again.
  11. No apologies necessary. In retrospect I realize that I was not clear. My car does not have remote start. My car came with the factory alarm. I may have read incorrectly that the 2013+ edges have the autostart built in. I tried to do some research on the issue this morning and I found that the 2013 explorers have autostart built in from the factory. I can't seem to find the forum that stated that the edge has built in autostart. All I have is (2) 5 button keys that need to be cut and programmed and I have the hood pin switch. My lady called and spoke to Kevin and scheduled me for Wed at 1. I did not realize that the part that I ordered was just the key. I need the remote start kit to be used in conjunction with it. I might just have to call Kevin and reschedule if I cant sort out whats needed and get it done before Wed. No ones fault but my own. This is what happens when you belong to multiple forums and read them when you cant sleep at 3 am. SMDH.
  12. I did not install the rest of system because I did not purchase it. All I have is the 5 button key fob and the hood pin switch. On a different forum it the stated that the 2013 Edge has the autostart built in and all I need is the key fob and have the dealer enable it. Admitedly I may have misread it and or confused it with diff vehicle. If that is the case what else do I need. I have the factory alarm. Not wanting to make any more assumptions in error, is the factory alarm the saem as VSS I'll check in the morning to see if the hood pin wiring harness is there. Thanks once again.
  13. @Candurin, I know this may be a longshot but I was wondering if you wouldnt mind extending a point of contact at your Ford dealer in Egg Harbour NJ. I have the 5 button key fob part number DA8Z-19G364-A and I have the hood switch. Is there anything else that I need? I have been to 3 dealerships here in Philly and I keep getting the run around. I was hoping that your dealership would extend the same price for installing the hood switch and programing the keys. Thanks in advance.
  14. If your lucky enough to find someone selling them they do come up for sale from time to time. I brought a used set of grill s in tuxedo black and had them installed while I was getting some body work done. It deff changes the look of the car. I would love to get one of those raptor grills for the edge one day.
  15. Got it in and Got it done. They did not have the battery terminal puller but I did manage to find a windshield wiper arm puller. If anyone reads this in the future I would suggest going with a battery terminal puller. The windshield wiper puller has a turn style knob which isn't the best for applying the torque needed to pull the arm. The top of the bolt with applies the pressure is rounded and it kept slipping off of the wiper arm bolt. I decided to loosen the nut till it was almost off and that gave the bolt room to stay on. Once I did that removing the arms was relatively easy. The entire process is painless.albeit frustrating if you don't have the right tools etc. Thanks to everyone who posted instructions and hints. One thing I will mention that others have not is that the strut tower bracket will prevent you from fully opening the fuse box. I'd suggest removing the lid first before installing the bracket. Although I was able to pull the cover off it is broken. I'll be ordering a new one sooner than later. It currently sits on top, just doesn't open the way it normally does. If its not one thing its the other and Mr. Murphy and I are becoming best friends. My DRL stop functioning. I tied the wires to the windshield wiper hose that was attached to the strut tower. I had to remove the hose to install the strut tower bracket. I though I may have pulled a wire loose but I checked all of the connections and everything seems fine. I had to pull the cover off the fuse box to check the fuses. Fuses are fine. I spoke with Dan from DaytimeBright Lights and we did some troubleshooting and he feels that its the controller. Hopefully I'll get the replacement in and ill have them up and running. Incidentally I went to advance auto and auto zone and they tested the battery and both places said the battery is bad. SMDH Once I get the DRL debacle sorted I'll be back to the dealership for round two.
  16. Thanks for the recommendation. Deff cheaper than some of the alternatives I've seen. I don't mind buying tools etc but when your going to use something all of two times then it makes sense to me to not to spend a lot on it. Quick google says that they have it at advance and or autozone up the street from me. While I'm there I'll get the battery/ charging system tested. Might just get it in this weekend. Weather permitting.
  17. Amen. Today was an admin wk from home day. I can't say I feel confident in her starting/ sounding like an asthmatic trying to get high.
  18. She's alive. She Started albeit roughly. She had to crank a few times. Hopefully she gets me through the wkend and I can take her in first thing in the morning. On a funny note this dealer ship wants to charge me a benny to install the hood pin assembly and an additional benny to program the remote keys.... When I inquired the service manager stated that they are two separate jobs. I told him neither of which takes an hr to complete. I said my car should be in and out in under an hr.....
  19. Thanks for the kind words. Yes it is frustrating due to the fact that I have had her all of 4 months and she has been to the dealership 4 times.... I dont if the dude tried to pull into the parking spot or back in when parallel parking or simply came to close to while moving fwd. She was parked on the left side of the street. I came out from wk and i do my usual. Pop the alarm. pop the trunk. Close the trunk and get it. When I checked my passenger mirror before pulling out the mirror seemed odd. Wasn't in the same position I left her in. What I initially thought was dust/ dirt whatever on the mirror ended up being the mirror cracked. The effin asshat put mirror back on. There were dents and dings and a paint smear going from nose to tail. At first I thought to myself well I'll buy a new mirror and see how bad it looks if I can rub the paint smear out. Several drinks later and I take a look at her in the day light I knew there was a no way that it would be rubed out. I looked up the price of a mirror and the cheapest I was able to get it for was 80 or so less than my $500 deductible. It was a no brainer at that point. You're right me and Mr. Murphy need to sit down have a few, exhale, laugh and have a few more. Hopefully he may find someone else to ream out. I'm almost afraid to try to start the car...
  20. Thanks once again WWWPerf. You're right It should be straight forward but after getting so closed and getting stumped by the pivot arm I want to fwd with having an idea of what I might run into. Thank you IRBB for the puller suggestion. Unfortunately Mr. Murphy had other plans for me. I ran into a brick wall, after putting everything back together the car would not start. I got a jump and let her run for 15 min. That was last night. Fast forward to this morning. This morning the car would not start. I got a jump drove 30 min to wk thinking that is sufficient time to charge the battery. When I parked the car I checked to see if any lights were on. I pulled out the manual just to make sure everything was operating as it should be. Hit the alarm, opened the trunk with the remote. Closed the trunk with the remote. I said to myself this is a good sign. In fact as soon as I sat down and put they key in the ignition the screen said that it was performing sync maintenance. This is not a good sign. Then the radio comes on it was not on the last sirus station I had it on. The fuel tank incorrectly displayed the amount of gas in the car. Click....click...click.... this is deff not a good sign Got a jump and went to the dealership.... It slowly went back to normal as i made my way to the dealership. The first service writer tested the battery and they said it was a bad cell. She said I'm in luck there is an open bay and I will have a tech R&R your battery. Sheer definition of irony. I turned the car off to park it while we talked. She gets in car would not start. Service manager comes over and says that they need to do an extensive test on the battery.....2hrs later dude said my battery is fine and they fully charged it. If it happens again I can have Ford Roadside assistance tow it in. I asked him if he was aware that the battery died while it was parked for less than 5 min he assured me the battery is fine. I asked him if he could test the alternator, and or starter or anything else that would cause it. He said that that's not what the car was brought in for. they can only run one test at a time. but he said that assured me the car is fine...... He said that if it happens again that call roadside assistance and they will tow it in and they will do an extensive test on the charging system. I asked him if I bring it back can they just R&R the battery. Since the first test said there was an issue and the second test said its fine. Why not just replace it and take it from there. I shouldn't have to leave the car to have a battery swapped out. He looked at me like i had 5 heads and was truly confused. He said they will take care of it If I have to bring her back. Fast Fwd after a much needed dinner relaxing evening with my lady I go to get in the truck and go home... turn the key.... I'm praying....click.. more prayers...click... she turns over. If shes dead in the morning I'm going to be livid. The only thing I have done to my car was add HID lights and LED running lights. I think if the lights are the issue it would have reared its head a few months ago.I had the trunk open while wking on the strut bar as it was easier that running back and forth to get anything i needed etc. 2 things are plugged into my cigarette/ charge ports. USB car chargers. My ipod is plugged into the usb port. I have never had a issue like this before. My car was recently in the body shop because some asshat hit me while my car was parked. That's a story for another day. 30 days later i get my car back and here we are today. I don't know if they left a door open and or light on while they were wking on my car. They brought it back on Monday and I did not have any issues at all. I don't think that leaving the trunk open would kill the battery. Will report back in the morning.
  21. Thanks so much for the instructions/ diagram. I decided to brave it. Unfortunately I got stuck on removing the wiper pivot arms. SMDH I knew better to leave it alone at that point. I remember my friend cracking his windshield trying to remove a wiper arm. IIRC everyone around him at that time said that prying it off was a bad idea. I got everything back together and will try again sometime this week and or weekend. Will look into borrowing a puller and or what ever is appropriate for doing the job. Thanks once again. EDIT: When you have a moment can you shoot me the instructions on removing the wiper arms? I assume that a puller is necessary but I may be completely wrong on that one. Thanks.
  22. Car finally came back from the autobody shop. Now I'm ready to install the strut tower bar....Question how does one remove the windshield wiper cowl? I would be greatly appreciative if someone wouldn't mind posting a diagram and or instructions. I Know it should be straight forward but I don't want to start pulling stuff apart only to find out i screwed the pooch later. Thanks in advance.
  23. They say a picture is worth a thousand words. If sounds as half as good as it looks ,then it must sound impressive because it looks phenomenal!!!
