  1. Leather with stitching. ab
  2. Memory seat buttons are the only ones you asked about that light. At least on our MKX, we have the PLASTIC  20" wheels. ab
  3. Could be something as simple as a clogged fuel filter, from bad gas. Speaking of bad gas, we had a 10:00 news item late last year. A local gas station replaced 3 engines ( 1 was a 06 Volvo) and an undisclosed # of fuels system purge/clean. But I'm voting on electronics, IF it runs ok except when stopping. Keep us updated. ab
  4. Have you done any research on how to paint them? Here are a few links. http://www.bfranker.badz28.com/fbody/calipers.htm this one mentions removing the pads before painting. http://www.twinturbo.net/nissan/300zx/tech...erpainting.html Basically it looks like.. Jack up car Remove wheel Remove caliper (probably just pull a couple of pins) Remove pads Clean caliper, then clean it again Mask EVERYTHING! Paint caliper (at least 3 coats) Let it dry Install pads, caliper and wheel Remove jack Do it again 3 times Looks like a very easy DIY but time consuming if you only have 1 jack. ab
  5. I see a few rice burners around town with them. The only problem (???) seems to be it takes a couple more seconds to get in/out. Have you considered a "group buy" $1599 sounds a lot better than $1899. Speaking of group buy's anybody want to start one for a cold air intake? ab
  6. Greetings and welcome Lots of good upgades and mods here http://www.fordedgeforum.com/index.php?showforum=14 I like the shorty antenna and tinted windows. We have a white MKX so we tinted with 35%. What do you think about tint on your vapor sliver like this? See the attachment below, I sold the Z and Honda VFR for a F250, wish I had them back. Here's my #1 upgrade I always recommend to my leasing friends. As quick as you can get to your Credit Union. Take out a THREE (four if you have to, this is a learning experience) year loan (sorry but the first one will be at a higher (used car rate) interest rate. Here's the secret part Make the payment payroll deductable. After the first couple of checks you won't even miss it. Now for the good part. In the past 40 years I owned several pretty nice cars and have NEVER made a payment on any of them. Here's a short list. 1969 69 SS 396 Chevelle 1974 74 GTO ..... 1979 75 Porsche 914 .... 1992 92 BMW 325 .... .... 1998 Cadillac Cateria 2002 02 Infinity I30 2004 04 BMW X3 .... 2008 08 MKX .... = other new but less interesting cars and pickups Bottom line....get out of that lease ASAP and if you do want to keep the Edge...Why would you want to pay for it TWICE? ab
  7. I thought our memory buttons were losing their programming. But then I read the manual  . ab
  8. Lots of discussion about this on other forums. One forum says that in Germany it's against the law to show the actual speed or slower than the actual speed. A friend was part of a class action suit against Honda, the Odometer was off, he and several 100k Honda owners now have an extended warranty. ab
  9. Here's a picture. http://www.azcentral.com/business/consumer...dspot06-ON.html ab

  11. Both of our front doors are off, a lot. Seems to be a pretty common problem. Of the 10 or so on the lot ours was the worst, but a couple were close. I pointed it out to our salesman, he acted like he had never seen anything like it before ( ). I also mentioned that our crossover trade in (BMW) would never have made it to the ship with misalignments like this. We agreed to wait till the first oil change (or warranty work). ab
  12. What kind of MPG do you get? Here's our's, I estimate 60/40 (highway/hard core red lights) we drive between 60 and 70 MPH on the highway. Dealer provided 1st tank was, Computer 18.9 hand calculated 15.4 I suspect the tank wasn't really full. 2nd tank..................... ............Computer 19.9 hand..................20.5 3rd........................................ ...................20.0............ .............18.1 4th............................................ ...............19.7............. ............18.9 ab
  13. I'm tempted to switch to Vonage :rip: just so they can generate enough revenue to make a new commercial :titanic: . Now the MAC PC commercials
  14. Not a fluke. No air to the seat back on our 08, after reading this I checked for air ducts going to the seat back, no duct. It was 93 today I was in the MKX most of the afternoon, turned the seat on a couple of times on low, didn't use but :10 of the :30 timer each time. This is the major reason we bought the MKX instead of the Edge, so far we are more than happy with the seats. I'm predicting 105 by Aug and we'll be using the high setting for a few minutes then switching to low. ab
  15. HHhMm our previous ride would creak if we DID NOT use some kind of rubber treatment every other month or so. You might try cleaning the mating surface, not the rubber first. Or It could be a coincidence, try pushing up on the glass. See if you can find a spot that makes it better/worse, open it and see if the rubber is loose. This has happened to us several times over the years if you don't open the roof every once in a while the rubber will stick to the glass and pull a little loose. hope this helps ablb
  16. Here's a guaranteed MPG improver. Attend your next city council meeting and ask them why they don't coordinate the traffic light to maximize traffic flow instead of maximizing traffic stopping at red lights. ab
  17. jlight Ride quality is 100% your call. Example: We traded a BMW X3 handles like a sports car but the ride is a little stiff. Example: Our friends felt like the X3 was damaging their kidneys. Example: We find the MKX with 20" uninspiring and a little soft Example: Our friends find the ride Just Right You should take test drives in both 18" and 20". Spend as much time driving the type of rds you normally drive on, don't let the salesperson pick the route. Send some time on the Interstate and rural rds. But most important Don't let someone else (help) make the decision for you. We were completely satisfied with the X3 and now we are completely satisfied with the MKX. We'll let you know about the plastic hub caps. ab
  18. That's the bad part I lurked for a few months, saw lots of post about the "CHROME-CLAD" but thought to my self " I'll take care of them, a little wheel wax and clean them often." Now I'm not sure. Guess I'll go with the wax and frequent cleaning and hope for the best or a TSB. ab
  19. I've been lurking here for a few months, we got our MKX a couple of weeks ago. Don't see to many transmission leaks reported, just transfer case leaks on the AWD's, now the wheel problem that's a whole different story. I appologize for the next part :beerchug: . They call it amSOIL for a reason, check their web site. Don't take this wrong it's good oil (maybe excellent) but for some reason they won't get it API certified SSOO if you use it and something happens to your motor it's your motor not Fords (no warranty). ab
  20. I washed the MKX today. We paid $896. for plastic hub caps You have got to be kidding me!!! I've been wondering what 20" CHROME-CLAD ALUM WHEELS meant, now I know. For some dumb reason I thought it meant some kind new high tech coating. Oh well live and learn. ab
  21. If you do any power upgrades don't forget that stopping and turning upgrades are considered performance upgrades. The edge has a reputation for NOT stopping very well so a brake upgrade should be considered, I saw a sway bar mentioned in another thread, and research has begun. $4100 is the estimate (if the heads are still ok) I have from a local performance shop, it includes ARP studs. Lets DON'T get in a discussion about why I still have 53K miles on my 6.0 factory warranty and you do not. :beerchug: ab
  22. Yes, 4K $'s and the down time is not in my budget at this time. Here is my current go fast. We'll probably get a cat back and better brake pads and call that good for the MKX performance upgrades. But if the SCT will give a couple more MPG's on regular then maybe.... NO NO I couldn't resist. ab
  23. I would get an SCT but I would be tempted to use it on my F250 and THAT IS A DEFINITE NO NO!! Here's my first performance upgrade on all my rides. The 0-60 time on the G-Timer is not from the MKX, it only has 756 miles. ab
  24. Yep Our previous ride had a MPG gauge. I really enjoyed buying gas, resetting before driving off and watching that gauge. 3, 7, 9, 12, 18 then I hit that FIRST RED LIGHT (as far as I can remember I've NEVER MADE that light ) 18, 17, 16, 15, 14, etc. Take off from that light and 10, 12, 15 and here we go again 2nd red light (I’ve made it a few times ) 14, 13, 12, etc. NOTE: The DFW area made the national news a couple of weeks ago. We lead the nation in coordinating our lights. AND NOW for the rest of the story. When none of your lights are coordinated you only have to coordinate 1 to statistically make the National news . ab
  25. Icy road hhmm O now I remember , we average about 6 days in 10 years. But thanks for the reminder :beerchug: , our last ride was an all wheel drive (the only way they build them) that's probably why the little light never came on. ab
