    snmjim,

Since the system has an X pipe and separate resonators, why not just use a Magnaflow resonator with built-in X pipe such as the 12468 (18”) or shorter 11386 (14”) ?  Seems like it would have simplified the fabrication.

We weren't aware of that option at the time of design but it sounds like something we would have considered had we known...

Super nice job on that exhaust image.png.3ddc2ddd81abd0355186d93a101c2961.png as well as some great photos image.png.0f377bb7a93f0a06d6bde5c936d412ea.png.  This is by far the best set up on an Edge that I have ever seen. The design and execution is top shelf. Just a few questions if you don't mind. I might have missed it but what is the diameter of the pipe? And I am wondering if those are two mufflers that I see in line,  if so can I get some more info on them. Like the size, make and model. Thanks.

Hey there Brother from the Best Coast...:yahoo:

Good to hear from you, how's the ankle healing?

    Thank you for the compliments!

The following are my responses to your questions:

    - Pipe diameter is a consistent 2.5" from the Turbos back however, we initially wanted to go 3.0" from the Turbos back but due to the late model 2015 through 2019 Edge Sport & ST front Turbo configuration the extreme turn the downpipe has to make immediately coming off the front Turbo would not be conducive to the exhaust gasses flowing smoothly out of the front Turbo. Therefore we were able to achieve a smooth flowing bend using 2.5" pipe.

NOTE: after careful measuring, analysis and research we came to realize there's no negative impacts going 2.5" because it well exceeds stock and stock modified Turbo exhaust port size.

    - Those are two resonators (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01C63YQSU/ref=cm_sw_r_em_apa_i_Bas9Cb0YFHJWP) commonly called back in our hot rod days as glass packs, thrush mufflers or cherry bombs. We elected to go with the two resonators to mitigate droning without increasing restriction. However, to maintain the sleeper concept we went with retaining the stock muffler which is steadily blowing out due to the added Turbo pressure and ironically the resulting tone is one we've decided to stay with...:rating:

BIG NOTE: we made it possible to have the entire system reproducible from the down pipes back to the tail pipes without needing the car so they are available to order and shipping to your front door. Your flavors are 2.5" downpipes into the stock exhaust system or 2.5" downpipes with a 2.5" exhaust system to the tail pipe or any variation there of, after all he is a custom fabricator...:2thumbs:

Exhaust system looks great. Eager to see more!

I’m also standing by for a Group Buy. I think most folks will want some sort of metric being able to justify the cost of these downpipes set.

I ask that everyone please be patient because 1st we have to refine the various Tunes then to meet our sponsors requirements we need to rent the track to enable us to achieve the various configuration track slips then we need to schedule dyno time.

We plan on having all of this done within the next 2 to 3 months...if all goes well...

In addition my Mother just passed so this will have a negative impact on my progress pace...?

Seeing a 3 inch custom made one off down pipe in something that is not an Edge is a long way from from a Down Pipe that is designed for the G2 Edge Sport. And not just one, a full assortment of them. Down Pipes with Cats or High flow Cats or no cats at all. Everyone of them offered in the color of your choice or just plain.  And snmjim has brought this to our community. :hat_tip:  Not a custom one off , a full on engineered product that is jut a click away.

I am running a custom one off part on my car now and bringing it to the next step ( production)  like snmjim has done with several products is not to be underestimated . It is a massive undertaking.

So thanks to snmjim and all I can say is. I hope your PTU can handle all that torque you are going to make and what's next ??

    Thnx Xtra!

However without SpecialK I couldn't have done it.

He's the research & numbers guru of the team.

Thnx with all my heart Son...:hat_tip:

The Edge is such a niche market that there are very few meaningful off the shelf mods available for it, even with the introduction of the Gen 2 Sport.  The "rest of us" appreciate being able to windowshop while y'all spend the time, effort, money to actually get things done.  Onward and upward.

    Thank you Manu,

It's motivating to know that some do appreciate our efforts...:ford:

    Totally get it!

Some people just can't help themselves nor can they bow out gracefully when their wrong. But all that matters is they know the truth as do others, it's just a matter of them coming around to reality. Everyone matures at different rates, some early & some way late.

I'm not one for bantering & boasting I simply wait to let the facts speak for themselves. In this case the comment made about a suppose to be private & informal test run on a public Hwy was more of a base line test between to friends to identify progress & changes needed. So we'll soon see the raw indisputable facts...if the PTU holds up...lol

I guess your referring to this bend

    BHcIzay.jpg?1

If that's a Gen 2 Edge Sport then I stand corrected and would like to know who's manufacturing those because we tried everything possible to make a 3" pipe work with no success.

    BTW,

There's nothing in that Pic validating it's platform, that can be any number of applications.

I've read the OP, but when you said major breakthrough I was sorta confused as if, just the fact they were done and installed was the major breakthrough or if I was missing something.

first mass produced, yeah. but 3in downpipes have been available for the platform since dec of 2017.

The claim that "3" DPs have been available since Dec 2017" for the Gen 2 Ford Edge Sport 2.7 TT would definitely warrant validatedation considering it was unanimous among several of the top fabricators in the business that it was short of impossible to make the "U" turn required off the front Turbo using a 3" pipe.

We initially tried 3" pipe because that's what the Tuners & math substantiated as optimal but it wouldn't work.

Besides why go 2.5 if 3 would work???

We'll agree that there are and have been for a while now other Ford platforms using the 2.7 TT Eco boost motor of which DPs have been developed for those platforms.

Therefore, I'm inclined to say "substantiate your claim".

    whats the major break through?

    Cmon Nick,

Had you read the OP as directed... you'd have your answer.

So I guess it's a safe assumption that your not a Fan of my write-ups, well here's a special cliff note version just for you...lol

Getting the first set of Gen 2 catless downpipes researched, developed and finally fabricating the first prototype set with the ability to mass reproduce on demand.

Only thing remaining is to provide track slips & Dyno Spec sheets and finally prototyping a set with Hi-Flow Cats...

And to think back when it all began here...Ref Pic

This is valuable information, thank you.

I’m more than happy to help facilitate a group buy in this project however I’ll need someone with a Facebook account to help contact the Ford Edge FB group as I do not have a Facebook account.

Seeing as the downpipes were released, I’m sure a few folks would like to jump in on this. If you are interested in a set of these, regardless of catted/catless, let me know. I’ll open a dialog with Zury once GB interest follows.

037 is your Facebook (FB) point of contact from the Ford Edge Forums (FEF) you may want to try sending him a PM. He's usually fairly responsive, if not let me know and I can reach him personally.

    BTW,

    U R most welcome. ..???

Thanks for working this effort snmjim! Truly great to see a new product come to market for this platform.

Has anyone looked into starting a group buy from Zury? I'm curious if a group buy could be setup to accommodate those who want catted or catless DPs.

    Hey there connoisseur,

You are most welcome, our careers involve research & development therefore it comes as just another project however, doing this for the FEF community is enjoyable and most rewarding when someone like yourself expresses their appreciation...:woot:

I am totally unaware of any effort to coordinate a group buy.

However, if you reference my topic string on the IC grill & rear stabilizer bar you can get an idea of how I made that happen.

    IC Grill:

    Rear Stabilizer bar:

If your intention is to attempt to coordinate a group buy and your not part of the FB Ford Edge page I'd recommend including them in your effort as well via 037 from this forums to maximize interest.

    Update:

Our pipes are completed however we're currently on hold by the ceramic coating person.

Any day now we should have coated pipes in hand at which point we'll complete the reassembly in 1-2 days.

Then we retune and begin track time/speed test then Dyno Specs for posting...:hat_tip:
