If these were catted I might be interested, but unfortunately "insufficient catalyst" codes are inevitable with a catless setup.

    That is totally incorrect!

We've been running Catless for at least a year using o2 defoulers and have had no o2 related codes and have no problem going through emissions inspections.

    Note: we've Tuned for 87, 93, e50 & e85 without o2 codes...???

  2. GET THEM WHILE AVAILABLE!!!

I was able to persuade Zury Fabrications to produce a couple sets of 2.5" catless, downpipes with taper to fit the stock exhaust Sys.

I'll confirm o2 bung placements are in easy access positions and maybe get him to include o2 defoulers for those of you concerned with emissions testing compliance.

I might even be lucky enough to have him ceracoat them for extra heat management...???

Should be available for purchase in 2 Wks.

Who will be the first 2 to commit???

SpecialK: if these 2 sets aren't committed in 2 Wks please post them on the Edge FB page.

Sorry I did not make myself clear.  I understand that you have to use the stock injectors while you wait for the new ones to become available.  So If the new ones are not the 1,700cc Deatschwerks injectors that we spoke of, then I am assuming that the new injectors will be designed specifically for the 2.7EB. That would be great because so far there are no HiPo injectors that are made specifically for the 2.7EB.

The HiPo injectors we're waiting on are by our fueling sponsor (Xtreme-DI) who will be making them specifically for the 2.7 TT eco bosst. So far Xtreme-DI's fuel pump has pushed the fastest documented F150, Edge Sport & Fusion Sport to World records. Recommend following Xtreme-DI & ZGF Racing on Instagram, they collaborate on many World record projects.

If they are not the injectors we spoke of then this is great news as that means that the new injectors should be specific and propitiatory

Not sure if you understood that the injectors we ended up installing are the stock Ford injectors while we wait for the Xtreme-DI injectors to come available in May.

  5. Injector Insight:

If your pushing the ponies with a Tune, especially if you've added a High Pressure Fuel Pump (HPFP), then you'll want to read more...;)

Lets get this part out of the way now because it's always the most frequently asked question for us.

We're at 82k and have tried 5 Tuners of which hands down we've had the best experience and results with ZFG Racing (Tuner) and XTreme-DI (fueling).

The life expectancy of a stock set of injectors is said to be anywhere from a life time to 100k miles of which BTW 100k is considered to be the numerical value of one average automotive life time. However, that's running a stock Tune and under average driving conditions.

Now if you've decided to Tune for e50 your still good with the stock HPFP and injectors however...if you're Tuning for e85 your going to demand a significantly higher fuel rail & injector pressure therefore, you'll need to install a HPFP. Your stock injectors will do just fine but you'll have to accept that you might only get half the life expectancy (50k) because you'll be working them harder with higher fuel pressure demands.

On that prelude note we will proceed with the point of the topic:

We've been performing R&D Tuning with stock Ford injectors over the past 2-3 years with great results however, after successfully Tuning for 87 & 93 octanes and e50 we moved on to e85. We installed the XTreme-DI HPFP in conjuction with the stock Ford injectors which proved to be very successful. While refining the e85 race Tune we finally began to experience injector sticking at 82k. So we went to our fueling sponsor (XTreme-DI) for a set of HiPo injectors but unfortunately they weren't going to have the set we needed for three months so we elected to proceed with another set of Ford stock injectors but of course after in depth cross referencing other higher preforming Ford injectors of which there were none we could be certain would be a direct replacement. So since the fueling demand was achievable and sustainable with the stock injectors we decided to accept the half life consequence for now. We also decided that once the XTreme-DI HiPo injector set came in we'd swap out the stock set since the job is much easier than it looks, as long as you adhere to the Factory Service Manual (FSM).

In summary the job is just a matter of detaching connectors and attachment points and simply manipulating wires and hoses out of the way, not removing, to facilitate intake manifold removal.

    Notes:

    - You do not need to remove intake and charge air pipes, just disconnect them from the intake manifold attachment points to facilitate the intakes removal which is best done towards the passenger side of the car.

    - The intake valves were surprisingly clean, equivalent to naturally asperated, given all the hype about coking on the back sides of the valves due to direct injection, however we suspect that installing the catch can at midlife may have contributed.

    - We do not recommend refurbishing old injectors for HiPo applications

    - We recommend replacing in sets due to batch Spec disparities

    - New injectors come as a complete ready to install Assy, better than dealing with O-rings and directional retainers

    - Recommend replacing intake gaskets (x6)

    - Must use NEW injector clips to maintain proper tension on injectors

I've been trying to find replacement brake pads (front and rear) for my ST.  I have the performance brake option and I'm looking for brake pads that give off a lot less brake dust.  Either I'm looking in the wrong places or I believe the pads are a different size than the regular pads.  Anyone have any suggestions?

    Hey SpecialK,

Y R we putting the effort out 2 make an after market listing of HiPo parts when very few R even attempting 2 query for it???

  7. UPDATE!!!

On behalf of FEF Members I personally contacted Zury Fabrications with a WTF Dude and here's what he's going to do for 2016-2019 Edge Sport owners but remember FIRST COME FIRST SERVED!

    Zury statement:

Sorry, been going through emails to see who actually had serious injuries...a lot of them were asking about exhaust with it. I've also had another issue come up where the vendor we use for cats is no longer producing them. Been trying to source another brand.

Here's what I can do, I can make a couple noncatted sets and put them up for sale.

There just hasn't been enough serious inquires that would be worth the time and money to buy parts and make them. Give me two weeks and we will have a few sets.

    SNMJim Note:

I requested he keeps me updated as to his progress with fabricating a catted set or 2 of which I'll Fwd that Info to FEF once it comes available...???

  8. For custom eTuning I'd go with ZFG Racing, hands down!

Out of the 5 Tuners we've been through, which includes all that you've mentioned, ZFG has done an outstanding job working with us to get the platform through some major barriers and to it's record breaking status...???

NOTE: This is one of the most complex ECUs to Tune therefore you must have a well seasoned Edge Sport Tuner who knows the pecularities of this specific platform and can safely push it.

    Thank you again ZFG!

I have the same strut tower bar. It is manufactured by Carfield Enterprise and can be purchased from eBay.  I have a about 4-5K on my bar. It tightens up the front end.  It greatly reduces the flex in turns.  There is a night and day difference in handling.  @Xtra @Special_K @snmjim Have the same bar. Maybe they will chime in.

Xtra is best suited to chime in here considering he roads races his Edge through the CA canyons.

We have nothing to contribute Tech & Spec wise since we have yet to find an auto-cross track that will allow an SUV.

     I guess they're reluctant because they're probably scared that we'll shame them...lol

The factory one is good for most people in daily driving but anyone who likes to not lose power while they are driving aggressively, having fun, really does need an aftermarket one.  I just wish there were more options for them and they were direct fit, no drilling, like the Focus ST ones.  I paid a whopping $350 for the Depo Racing 3.5 Son of the Beast IC when I had that car and it took a whopping hour to put it on.  No drilling and nothing more than some normal hand tool required.  Sure you had to take the front fascia off but that was pretty easy on the Focus, I have not looked to see what the Edge requires to remove it but I am sure it is probably just as easy.  On the Focus it was very noticeable once it was replaced that you were not losing power anymore.  Heck it kept charge air temps within 5-7 degrees from start to finish of running through the gears to over 100MPH from a stop, a delta that was 70+ degrees with the stock unit.  Heck I can tell you that with my stock tune back on my Edge that the 0-60 measured with my draggy is around 5.6s at 32 degrees now and I managed a 1/4 mile time of 13.87s@99.87mph at that temp.  On the stock tune I never got below 14s or under 5.67ishs 0-60 with temps that were higher.   So imagine what these engines could do with Charge Air Temps that did not climb 70+ degrees from start to finish of a 1/4 mile run.  I have checked the temps and once they rise they do not come back down until after you let off the gas and are done having fun.  Compared to the tuned Focus ST pushing around 23-24psi of boost when it was 80 degrees out that the temps all stayed withing 5-7 degrees start to finish when havi0ng fun.

I lease so I am still up in the air on if I want to get one.  Heck when I got the tune and FMIC for the Focus I only had it about 6 more months before I traded the lease in early for the Edge so I am reluctant if I want to spend the money or drill holes.

Here's your answer to removing the front fascia:

    FYI

The only MODs necessary to install the UP IC is the removal or cutting off of the lower IC section of the AGS and cutting back of the front section of the cooling table support bracket about 1".

    NOTE TO ADMIN:

We had this MOD & many others posted on this Forums site with very detailed DIY with Pics however, many of those have dissapeared therefore we no longer put the extensive effort out to post these.

HA HA limping to a 12.29 world record. Wow !!! When you get the bugs out your monster could be in the 11 second range . I never thought in a million years that an Edge could do that unless it was a dedicated trailered race car. Do you know how much boost you are making?

    27 lbs +/-

OMG!!! 12.29 that is way fast for any type of car, for a Crossover that's just insane fast.  Congratulations on a new world record :number1: , your hard work has paid off .  Awesome job ! :happyfeet:

Thanks for your support & encouragement Xtra but it does get crazier...:woot::lurk:

We were limping at the track due to top end breakup caused by a o2 sensor that was going bad and eventually went bad after the first run which in turn set off the nannies to protect the motor of which the ECU started pulling back power on the last 2 runs and we still pulled those speeds & times...:rating:

The hybrid Turbos performed way better than we could have imagined, providing lots of boost!!!

Up to this point we and the Tuners were very frustrated with the complexity and depth of the Tune tables for this platform however after the top end breakup at the track and some other potential Tuning scenarios that could have ended in catastrophic engine failure we have come to realize the rational for this complex Tune program/tables, Ford programmed in a large amount of motor protection.

    Therefore thank you Ford...:ford::ford::ford:

To be continued after an o2 sensor replacement, more Tune Revs, Dyno time then off to a warmer track or wait for Spring...:hat_tip:

BTW, she's still a great daily driver with climbing mileage!

We ended up fabricating our own from scratch using our HPTuner software to measure & substantiate gains.

The short of it is if your going to use the stock snorkel entry point through the front cross member you will NOT make any measurable gains.

Hint: you MUST have a larger than stock or multiple fresh air entry points into the air box...yes, we've tested & measured to validate this statement...?
