  1. The first line in my post says "i have nothing to compare it to". I suppose when you are used to smart phones, the whole sync platform seems mostly unreliable. so far my issues have been mostly with navigation. it doesn't properly calculate a route for "shortest" or "fastest" it just makes it up as it goes (so it seems). there are times that i know where i'm headed because i googled it the evening before leaving, and it takes me the long way around. when i ignore sync directions i usually arrive several minutes faster. on a recent 177 mile trip, i ignored the first half of the directions (because i had an idea of where i was headed) and i shaved off 33 minutes from its "arrival time". traffic/travel link does not work at all. fuel prices and weather work fine. dealer has no clue what the issue is. sometimes when speaking into nav the search results don't have what i'm looking for unless i input it manually. like saying "Cabela's" and it has no idea what i'm looking for.
  2. ok chief. if the kid was staring at his crotch for 30 seconds you are correct he PROBABLY wouldn't have noticed a flashing light. though of all the cell phone users i see driving, most have them up in the air, near the steering wheel, in which case there would be peripheral vision involved. if you disagree that's fine.. there isn't any point continuing to argue about it (take your own advice mr. last word) If it was up to me, I'd slap the phone out of every one of the morons with their phone in their hand while driving and behind you. and to the left and right. there are so many "legalities" most people (and officers) don't know them/enforce them. have a sticker on your window? illegal. obstruction of view. something hanging from your mirror. illegal. obstruction of view. tint (obviously varies by state, but generally illegal past a certain point). licence plate frame? illegal if it covers any part of your plate.. including words and symbols not associated with your plate number. the point is, i can't believe people are "annoyed" because a brake light flashes 3 times. let them deal with the ticket (that they most likely will never get)
  3. the road noise from these has been driving me nuts. anything over 40mph becomes aggravating. will be attacking this project tomorrow for sure. thanks for the tips
  4. I never owned any other "sync" before the 2016, so i have nothing to compare it to... yet i find sync 3 to be absolutely awful. not sure what i was expecting, but i'm not impressed with it whatsoever. but as far as other advice, don't settle! get the one you WANT, with the accessories you WANT! I waited and waited, looked at a million of them until I found the perfect one for the perfect price. BRAND NEW 2016 in june of 2017, for $33,500 out the door. there are people paying that price for used, so I scored big time. some people care about the wheels, heated/cooled seats, hid lights, vista roof, etc.. just make sure you know which options you can live with/without.
  5. we have 180* field of view, and 130* vertical visual field. outside of the visual field we need stimulus to make us notice things. anything from movement, relative to the background, or a flashing or pulsating light, or bright light. why do you think our indicator lights flash? so they can be seen by other drivers, even outside their field of vision. I'm not staring at the cars lights next to me when they turn their signal on to move into my lane, the flashing sure helps to notice them coming
  6. you can't be reasoned with. look forward. continue looking forward while you have your boyfriend stand 90* to your left with a strobe light.. you'll see it flashing. it will get your attention. however you will not be looking at it. ever have a something thrown at you when you weren't looking? if it is in your peripherals, you most likely had flinched/ducked/thrown an arm up (albeit probably late). we're not discussing reaction time here, we're discussing the plausibility of a flashing light in your field of vision causing you to notice it, which you are stating WILL NOT happen.
  7. do.. please do tell where i called you any names. don't get your panties in a wad. If flashing lights don't get peoples attention, please call your local police department and tell them not to bother with flashing lights. a simple red and blue glowing on top will do the job. i wouldn't suppose the kid had his eyes closed. if he's bouncing his eyes between a cell phone, a cheeseburger, the bikini car wash, a flashing light has a potential to draw your eyes attention. bright colors, same story. if you disagree with that, then be sure to call the local construction company and tell them not to bother with their lime green reflective vests, just wear black and do jumping jacks as they cross the road. many things have POTENTIAL to stop an accident. daytime running lights, flashing brake lights, hi-vis clothing, any little bit helps (and adds up). but for you to say it would do NOTHING, was an ignorant statement.
  8. what rpm are you launching at and what tire pressure? couldn't get my 60' down below 2.04. haven't put the lowering springs on it yet either, so that may help me some
  9. i'll chase numbers until i don't have legs!
  10. Ran it tonight at little river in temple, tx. messed up both times so i really don't know what kind of times i can actually run. 93 agressive tune k&n filter 22 miles to (E) 34psi front and rear tires left my traction control on, because i'm an idiot. 13.56 @ 99.93 2.06 60ft second run was better, lowered the tire pressure some. 30psi front 32psi rear traction control was off, but i was in drive mode, not sport mode. not sure how much i would have gained from it but: 13.39 @ 101.65 next trip will be on the 100 octane tune with no seats or spare tire
  11. Before my evening at the track I figured I'd remove the seats and spare and see what kind of savings I get. Here are the numbers for those interested: Passenger seat 52lbs Spare Tire 39.5lbs Jack 9.5lbs Rear Cargo Cover (with foam pieces underneath) 6lbs Bench of the rear seat 15.2lbs Passenger rear backrest (has the motor for automatic folding rear seats) 30.6lbs Driver rear backrest (also with motor) 59lbs Good for almost 212lbs of weight loss. I'll take that extra car length all day long
  12. are you using an octane booster to get your 100 octane, or mixing with race fuel?
  13. has anyone run this tune at the track? I'm going to run my 16 sport friday, and i want to see how she pulls on the 100 tune. though i normally run 93 octane, they do sell race fuel at the track. i guess my main question is, i've heard octane boosters are unreliable, so how can i get my octane at the optimum levels in order to run this tune
  14. nick, (off topic) did you have the stock wheels powdercoated?
  15. Amen! I've got a microfiber towel hidden in every hole in this thing. When i'm done with it, it won't look used. you know, minus the tune, lowering springs, exhaust... oh crap.....
  16. Hey now, we don't want to here that around here! Some peoples daily drivers take a beating (on purpose for some, accidental for others)
  17. not sure if this should be in accessories, or interior.. but I just picked some of the best floor mats i've ever bought. after paying a fortune for weathertech for my 4runner a few years back, i decided to find something cheaper for my 16 sport. I went with Maxpider 3d Kagu mat. they are by far the best looking i've ever seen. not sure about longevity yet, but they seem to clean easily, and it says waterproof. These aren't a plastic type thing like weathertech, which i think makes weathertech look cheap. these look almost like a stock mat with the color/texture. they sit high enough on the driver side to go up under the pedals, but not high enough to interfere with them. plus they snap into the stock location perfectly. sorry if this sounds like an advertisement... but as i get older, i get way happier about the little stoopit stuff, and figured i'd share my experience. weathertech wants $120 for the front mats, i got these for $77 free shipping. I can use the extra cash for my exhaust project!
  18. emailed livernois about a new tune after fabricating an exhaust and they said it won't be necessary. anyone have input? I would think more air out, means more air in, causing a lean condition? or is it just that negligible?
  19. because of how freakin hot it is under the hood. and because if i can find a way to add 5 ponies on something i drive, i'll try it. if i lose a 1/4 mile race by a half a car, you can bet i'll buy a cold air intake so it doesn't happen again. and then i'll take the kids to soccer practice.
  20. i too was thinking about going 3in. was trying to find some sort of aftermarket exhaust from a bmw m3. some of those have a decent sound, but i was looking to do this for less money than what those exhausts cost. granted i can handle the welding and fabrication aspect, but the cost of raw materials for European stuff is astronomical. after a few more days of research, i have somewhat of an idea that seems to sound ok. guy used a magnaflow tru x crossover pipe, and just ran straight exhaust pipes from there. dual in, dual out, basically like the x-pipe idea i originally had, but it has some perforations on the interior of that "tru x" to get rid of a lot of the high end cheap honda sound.
  21. anyone tried this intake yet? I don't doubt that it bolts up, but does it actually seal against the hood enough to make it a CAI? https://www.steeda.com/steeda-fusion-twin-turbo-cold-air-kit
  22. anyone make their own yet? I'm going to start this project soon. planning on taking the resonator out, adding an x-pipe in its place, and running the exhaust back to dual mufflers instead of the single. so far i've only found a couple of videos of exhaust. IMO, mrt exhaust didn't have enough aggressive tone for me, Borla sounds like garbage. I'm not entirely concerned about drone, as i don't do much driving at the same RPM, but as most people would agree, i want a decently aggressive sound, without the ricey overtone. thinking magnaflow might have something for me. i like flowmasters, but only on v8 vehicles. they just can't seem to get the sound right for v6 engines. any input appreciated
  23. hows it holding up? after having my dog jump into the back and misjudge her leap, i have some nice scratches on top i'd like to cover with something like this.
