  1. Judging by my own experience with the Edge so far ( and others here ), I thought I may as well start planning for brakes. I would like an upgrade of some sort, but the Steeda is out of the question. I have no doubt that it works, but is just too much cash for me. 1. I want flexible braided stainless lines for the front. No matter the vehicle, I have heard really good things about doing this. I just have to find them ... 2. EBC Red Stuff pads. I am going completely by memory, bu I think that this is the right pads for our application ( if they make it, haven't looked into that yet ) 3. Don't know what to do about rotors. Crossdrilled look pretty I don't think they are right for the street. Slotted are better for street than cross, but I am still not sure about those. I had ATE rotors on my VW ( mostly highway driven and wasn't that impressed ) Hard on the pads I had and got rather noisy as they wore down. So its a different brand of slotted or plain rotors again. Can anyone provide some insight ( personal experiences / opinions welcomed )? Where and how much I can get this stuff for in Canada would be greatly appreciated. Derek
  2. Well I did a pile of searching and I came across various websites that list the TSB's. None of them had anything about the liftgate. If there is anyone on here that works for Ford, could you please look into this and provide the TSB number if it exists ?? Many thanks in advance !!
  3. No fair !! Beat me to it ... Here's the short ( no pun intended ) story. If your tail lights light up, so should your lp lights ( same fuse ). The LP lights share the same ground as your rear window defroster. So if that works, the ground should be good. Sorry, but it looks as though you'll have to trace wires. Any violet/white wire back there will give you power.
  4. Did they apply the TSB ?
  5. Sorry for the delay in replying ( I sometimes forget about this thread ! ) I am at work right now and I'll check when I get home. Usually something like the license plate lights would be on the same circuit as something else ( just because they don't draw a whole lot of power ).
  6. Wow. I figured that would have generated a response or two ...
  7. We can tow more than you think ... http://www.canamrv.ca/SeminarsShows/TestDrive/tabid/16700/Default.aspx http://www.rvlifemag.com/hitchhints.html
  8. That's kind of funny. My dad always told me that if it wasn't for bad luck, I'd have none at all. My Edge is the very first new vehicle purchased. I was hoping to not have problems for a while. so far I have been in for the PTU twice, both rear ABS sensors and I had a rear break pad separate from its backing and wedge against the rotor. I have been problem free for a while now, but for a bit it didn't want to seem to quit. I still love it though ...
  9. Went looking here: http://www.caranddriver.com/news/spied/10q1/2011_ford_edge_and_edge_sport-auto_shows/gallery/2011_ford_edge_limited_side-view_mirror_with_puddle_lamp_photo_30 After looking through all the pics, it looks like no LED's in the mirrors. The tails I can't tell though.
  10. Well I still like my '08 well enough to keep it over the new one. I do like the changes though. Someone please find out about the tails ( if they are LED ) and if the mirrors have signal repeaters or not. If no in either case, guess I'll do it myself.
  11. Like a few here I got it installed at the dealer and now regret it slightly. Is there a way of getting a different remote that would use the factory autostart ?? It would be nice to be able to start the thing IN the house. I have been searching both here and on Google and can't seem to find anything.
  12. I highly doubt it. If its not there for 07's ... Why don't you pop out the cubby and have a look ? Should take about 10 seconds to remove.
  13. my 2 cents: I am one of the chosen few with a job title that has "essential services" in teeny letters below it. Having driven RWD and FWD when we chose to buy our Edge there was not much debate. After a couple of really bad winters, the next vehicle would either be 4WD or AWD. Not much is going to slow down AWD with 4 snow tires on it.
  14. Makes sense if the vehicles are on different platforms. Thanks guys ..
  15. I am a little perplexed. The Flex has the same engine, transmission etc. I thought that the only real difference was the fact that the chassis is stretched a bit and the inside/outside cosmetics. That said is there something I am missing ?? I just cannot understand that it has 1000lb higher towing capacity than the Edge/MKX/CX-9.
  16. I am going to stick my neck out on the foglights. You do not have a harness there for them. To make them work like OEM, you'd have to get the harness and wire it up to the SJB. Some have done this and it still didn't work. This, to me, indicates that you need programming of the SJB. I would just use the OEM switch to turn the fogs on and off. Much simpler ( and cheaper too ).
  17. I could be completely wrong, but the mods on the new transmissions likely have to do with the fact that they have added paddle shifters ( at least on the Flex ). A simple valve body modification would increase the torque capacity as well.
  18. How much for the replacement vs the stick on ?
  19. The Curt hitch will fit on Edges that have the factory tow package. Not necessary at all to remove the factory hitch. There is a board member here that has done this, although I can't remember who ...
  20. You'd have to trace what you want back to where is gets power in the diagrams as well as in the car. All you have to do is find stuff that works only when the car has the key to the accessory position. Yes MM =Multimeter.
  21. Sort of, but its not like a list as one might hope. If you are looking for info like that, the best place is to look in the fuse panel. All the amperage information is right there. One circuit that I think might be of some use is for the rear window defroster. Double check with a MM first though.
  22. The manual doesn't suggest that there is any difference in the brakes ( rotor size or otherwise ). All parts seem to be the same. Kind of odd, I would have thought there would be different rear rotors.
  23. Mine has been doing that lately too. Keys were out.
  24. Why not just buy a class III hitch and install it. There is someone here who did this and left the factory hitch installed.
