  1. Thanks for your response. I will try to pay closer attention to determine exactly what my transmission is doing. Weird thing, the strange behavior is not noticeable in the automatic mode with normal or Sport ratio.. I have asked forum members who have been to the ST Experience if the instructors discussed or demonstrated using the manual S mode. One person said there wasn't enough time. I have also asked several members who were scheduled for the experience to specifically ask their instructor to demonstrate manually shifting in the S-mode. No responses. Other ST owners must not be interested and just don't care.
  2. I will look forward to your response and that of any other ST owners in the forum. THANK YOU
  3. I have made the following request, or a similar request, many times in the past few months, but have never received a response. I am hoping that you can respond to my request. I own a 2019 Edge ST that I purchased new in September of 2019. I had the June transmission software update (TSB) Flashed when it was first announced. I noticed significant improvement in the normal and S automatic modes. However, I still feel that an additional software update is required, especially in the S mode when manually shifting using the paddles. In the S mode, when shifting manually ( paddles) under moderate acceleration, I feel that my ST does not shift properly from 2nd to 3rd to 4th. It almost seems like the transmission holds 3rd and then flares and sometimes bucks before going into 4th. Could you (and possibly other ST owners from the forum) please try manually shifting (paddles) under moderate acceleration while in the S mode and report how your transmission behaves. I would like to know if my ST is like all the other STs, or if it has a transmission problem. Perhaps the June update was not flashed correctly? Thank you.
  4. Please try to get your instructor to discuss using the shift paddles to achieve acceptable 2nd to 3rd to 4th shifts under moderate acceleration in the sport mode. My car appears to skip 3rd with unacceptable flare and delay before going into 4th. Try the shifting scenario with your car and see how transmission performs. Could be that several of us members have a nondisclosed (by Ford Performance) problem with our shift program or transmissions. Perhaps the problem was fixed for 2020s. Thank you.
  5. On my 2019, there is white stitching on mats to match seats but no branding.
  6. Are you sure that you did not misinterpret the build selection options? I just went through the build exercise for a 2020 Edge ST and the option that you referred to appears to be part of the 401A equipment group. The 400A equipment group is the standard equipment group. The way i interpret it, 400A does not have the adaptive cruise control either.
  7. Welcome to the forum. It would be very interesting if you could ask a performance team member in North Carolina to demonstrate the use of the shift paddles in the S mode, paying particular attention to the shift from 3rd to 4th gear. There have been many posts expressing concern about the weirdness in the shift from 3rd to 4th gear in the S mode when using the shift paddles. Some owners are even questioning the intended use and how to effectively use paddles in the S mode. It would be appreciated if you could express this interest and relay owners's concern about this subject. Thank you!!
  8. Thanks, good thought. I checked and did not see a "shift indicator lamp". It would probably be in the left display when in the S mode and using the paddles. I don't think there is a lamp test mode that would pick it up.. There is an S lamp in the bottom left hand corner of the left display when in the the S mode with out paddle mode selected. The S lamp goes out when the paddle mode is selected. As such, that lamp has nothing to do with optimum shifting. When the paddle mode is selected, the S lamp as mentioned above is not illuminated, but there is a selected gear indicator lamp illuminated in the center of the tach in left display indicating which gear, S!, S2, S3... S8, you have selected by the paddles. I believe this gear indicator will flash if the engine RPM is too low for the gear you are trying to upshift to or if the RPM becomes too low for the gear you are in. If the situation is not corrected I believe the transmission automatically downshift for you. The indicator lamp basically provides a stall alert and protection by automatic downshifting if required. As far as I can tell this indicator lamp does not provide a high rev alert. The transmission will not automatically upshift to prevent engine damage. Seems like this lamp could have been made to function as the advertised "shift indication lamp" to achieve the optimum level of efficiency and fuel economy", but was not. For me, the context of the supplement's "shift indication lamp" statement, indicates that alerts are provided for optimal upshifting and downshifting. Blowing the engine should not be considered optimal. Maybe I am reading too much into it?
  9. I posted the same topic, see below, in the ST forum but received only one reply. That reply suggested that the owners manual might be wrong, which I realize is quite possible. I know there are many other Edge ST owners in the forums. Does anyone else realize that per the SUPPLEMENT there is suppose to be a "shift indicator lamp"? Does anyone know where or what it is? Has anyone developed a satisfactory technique (shift points ,etc.) for using the paddles in the S mode with or without the "shift indicator lamp'. For anyone who attended the ST Experience event, was the S mode using paddles part of the experience? I realize the "shift indicator lamp" it is not a big deal, but I am just curious. Page 12 of the FORD EDGE ST SUPPLEMENT provided with the owners manual (see attached), states that when using the paddle shifters you should take notice of the "shift indicator lamp" which alerts you when to shift to help you achieve the optimum level of efficiency and fuel economy. Where or what is the "shift indicator lamp" ? Maybe the paddles shifters will function better if shifts are made per the "shift indicator lamp" alerts. Has anyone developed a technique for achieving a satisfactory 3rd to 4th shift (2nd gear might be part of the problem also) using the paddle shifters in the S mode?
  10. I have a 2019 Edge ST with approximately 3500 miles. The car was purchased new a year ago. Since my wife and I are retired, the Edge being the second car spends most of the time in the garage. The last two times that I used the Edge for grocery shopping on hot days, the rear liftgate would not remain closed after I loaded the groceries . Upon pushing the close button, the liftgate would lower and click at the end of travel but not latch and then reopen. I was able to make the liftgate stay closed by lightly pushing and holding the liftgate at the latching position. After driving home the liftgate will close and latch properly. There is no visible obstruction in the closing path, Could strut drag be affected by hot weather. Can the struts be lubricated?

  12. Are you noticing the problem in S Mode when letting the car autoshift or when you are using the paddles? I don't notice much to complain about in auto shift mode, but when trying to use paddles it makes me wonder if I am doing something wrong or lack coordination? When shifting from 3rd to 4th gear using paddles the cars bucks and doesn't really appear to shift. On some of the other gears the actual shift is much delayed from the activation of the paddle. I feel that Ford Engineering has more programming to do with the S Mode when using paddles. I wonder if at the ST Experience (or whatever it's called) test track, paddles are used in the S mode? For anyone who attended, did the car you drove behave the same as your own car in S mode using paddles? If it behaved like mine, I'd think Ford Engineering would be embarrassed. Please let us know what the dealer says. Ask the dealer if Ford Engineering will be made aware of your complaint?
  13. Not trying to hijack the topic, but since you suggested using FORScan, I have a few questions. You mention that it is free, I assume you are referring to FORScan for Windows. Looks like the version that is free is a beta version. Are the licenses that they sell for their current production version? Do you or should anyone have concern about using a beta version? Does the beta version do everything and possibly more than the licensed version? Thanks
  14. Thanks, but I was already aware of the 3,3 bug and had previously solved the problem with the newest update. I mentioned it just to make the point that repeat downloads are definitely available via the "click here" in the confirmation email. My map and SYNC update adventure and final outcomes are well documented in earlier posts.
  15. The order confirmation email that you received after your purchase should contain the following sentence. "Thank you for placing your order with syncnavigation.com on Jul 16, 2020. If you need to access your order to download your map again, please click here" I downloaded the map files several times while trying to figure out why the correct map version was not being displayed in SYNC INFO.
  16. What version of SYNC is shown on that same screen that you show above? Mine shows SYNC3, Software Version: 3.4 ( or V3.3.4). I wonder what happen to the V3.4.43 that was mentioned in the instructions?
  17. What you heard is correct. Maps updated on SYNC V3.3 will not indicate correct version in SYNC INFO. The map update can be repeated with SYNC V3.4 and the correct map version will be indicated In SYNC INFO..
  18. M-R-E-D-G-E, Thank you for the update. I will try the IVSU menu. In the IVSU are versions for Sync 3 and NAV maps presented in readable text or must I know the corresponding version numbers. In the SYNC INFO section of SYNC settings is your SYNC version listed as SYNC V3.4.3 or SYNC V3.4.43 (as per the instructions.) Mine says SYNC V3.4.3 Thank you.
  19. Are you implying that there might be a problem with my SYNC update? I was able to notify Ford with the file written to the USB stick at the conclusion of the update.
  20. The new SYNC3 download became available again this afternoon. I downloaded and installed what the instructions said was SYNC3 V3.4.43, I disabled autostop, plugged in the usb stick, waited for the updating message to start and then went in the house. I checked the status in 30 minutes and it still said updating. I came back after 40 minutes and it still said updating. I removed the USB stick and it still said updating. Since it said updating no matter whether the USB stick was in or out, I figured it was complete. I turned the car off, waited 20 seconds and turned the car back on. SYNC came back on and appeared to be working. I checked the SYNC INFO section and it said that the car was running SYNC3 V3.4 (not V3.4.43 as stated in the instructions that were provided??). Is the SYNC3 V3.4 the latest version. The map version was (incorrectly??) reported as NA 1-18 even though I loaded NA 1-19 with SYNC3 V3.3. The map version was not updated from NA 1-18 to NA 1-19 by SYNC3 V3.3. When I have an opportunity I will load NA 1-19.
  21. Thanks, all I knew is that when I selected the "Prepare SYNC Download " box, I got an OOps message saying there was a problem on their end. I just tried it again and it looks like it will download.
  22. Apparently the latest release of SYNC 3.4.43 is also buggy and has been retracted. When I try to download it, I get an Oops statement. If and when Ford fixes SYNC v3.4.43 and I can download and install, I will answer the question about whether the displayed map version in the SYNC info section was corrected and if was not, if I can reinstall NA 1-19. Apparently there is another way using the IVSU version screen in the diagnostics mode to determine the actual map version being used. Can anyone explain how to do it? I can't be sure that I successfully updated the maps from NA 1-18 to NA 1-19 using SYNC v3.3 with the map version bug.
  23. In that case, SYNC 3.4.43 must erase any evidence that map ver. 1-19 was previously loaded by SYNC 3.3. As I mentioned before SYNC 3.3 will not even let me attempt an update with the same map version. The auto install file doesn't work. It is like it needs to identify an earlier version before it attempts an update.
  24. I have a 2019 Edge ST. I recently attempted to update my Maps from NA 1-18 to NA 1-19. I had no problem in preparing and loading the USB stick to update my maps. I followed the instructions that I downloaded with the update data files. To my surprise after turning my car "off" and back "on" at the completion of the map update, the map version number in the SYNC INFO section was still NA 1-18. I contacted customer support and the person was clueless. She told told me that for this version ONLY of maps, i needed to purchase the $40 loaded USB memory stick. I didn't believe her. I tried reloading my USB stick but did not get the upgrade confirmation text screens that appeared the first time. it seemed like SYNC could not recognize the auto install file on USB stick. I reformatted my USB stick and performed the USB stick preparation and load from scratch. Again, it appeared that SYNC could not recognise the auto install file since I did not get the update confirmation text screens that appeared the first time. If I attempted to update the maps to the version that was the same as the loaded version, would the attempt be ignored with the results I experienced? I decided that it was time for a little research. This did not answer the question I asked in the previous paragraph but, in another forum, several of the members mentioned that SYNC v3.3 had a bug that prevented the updated map version from being presented in the SYNC INFO section after a map update. Very possible explanation for what I have experienced. Has anyone running SYNC V3.3 attempted to update their maps from version NA 1-18 to NA 1-19? Is the correct updated map version displayed in the SYNC INFO section? I just noticed that there is a new SYNC V3.4.43 available for my car. Maybe it will correct the updated nav map ver. # problem
  25. I purchased a new 2019 Edge ST on 8/31/19. I requested that TSB 19-2313 be flashed on 10/25/19 to address, 1) harsh upshifts and downshifts and 2) harsh engagements when shifting from PARK to REVERSE, PARK to DRIVE and/or REVERSE to DRIVE . TSB 19-2313 was also suppose to address 3) upshift flare on the 4th to 5th gear upshift (since I don’t know what it is, I can’t say if I experienced It). Although not mentioned in the TSB, I hoped it would correct the funkiness in the 3rd to 4th gear upshifting. (skipping 3rd gear?? ) Flashing TSB TSB19-2313 resulted in significant improvement to items 1) and 2). However, I still experienced an occasional harsh engagement. The funkiness of the 3rd to 4th upshifting was not corrected. TSB 20-2190 was rolled out on 6/2/2020. It was suppose to address the same Items 1)and 2) from TSB 19-2313 mentioned above. I had TSB 20-2190 flashed on 7/15/2020. I was hoping as a minimum it would eliminate the occasional harsh engagement. After driving my Edge ST for a week, I can report that my Edge ST feels like a different car. All of my transmission concerns have been corrected by TSB 20-2190. Please note however, that I am 71 years old and not an overly aggressive driver. As such what satisfies me might not satisfy you.
