  1. I used an extension with a wobble drive ball end. No need to try and fit between the plug and crossmember. You can also pry the RDU itself down a bit on its rubber mounts to get a better shot at it.
  2. Hey! Sorry for the delay, I forgot to update here. At the dealer, I got the same blank stare I always get when I ask a tech question. And then they tried to sell me an engine oil filter. Sigh... What I found online was SSM 47948. Google it, you will find it is a Ford service message to dealers instructing them to replace the turbo oil line screen any time turbo work is done. MacT did a video here:
  3. Great work! Nice write-up and pics.
  4. Mine was just out of warranty when the sunroof let go, and of course the response from the dealer (as usual) was "we've never seen that happen". Insurance covered it, but I'm on the hook for the deductible.
  5. My 2019 panoramic roof exploded last year while I was driving it. Recently (yesterday), the rear hatch glass shattered while it sat in my driveway. Love the Edge but damn I hate this issue.
  6. Fastest, easiest check to do is a compression test. Pressure test of cooling system would be good also.
  7. If only under acceleration, I'd look closely at your tie rod ends. One or both could be a bit worn, causing a wheel to wag back and forth like a shopping cart wheel. (Exaggerated, but you get the idea).
  8. I agree with the above recommendation and I will be getting that setup soon, but I also have an Innova 3170RS. I just used it to do the exact job you are talking about and it worked perfectly. You have to dig into the "service" menu, but transmission temp is there.
  9. Yes, it really does help. I think that's how the dealership fooled me when I bought my used 2019. I did reset mine a couple times like you said and it works every time, but it eventually comes back. Changing the EGR sensor on mine is what has made the biggest difference. But, it doesnt work for all since I believe there are numerous issues that cause a similar condition. No more surging and bucking, but it definitely is not a very refined transmission, even if everything is working properly. I drive my wife's RAV 4 8 speed and it is absolutely seamless. Smooth and predictable every shift.
  10. Very good point. When the OE puts a drain plug in, such as in my 2019, they redesign the case with a thicker bulkhead to support the drain hole. I think fluid level is more important than an actual change. If the level stays full, the fluid will be good for a long time. I just changed mine after 147,000 kms, and the fluid was actually in really good shape. It's easy enough to maintain the level with just a fill plug. I'd be more itchy to change it if it sees hard use in hot conditions.
  11. Public service announcement for an issue that scared the crap out of me today. Noticed a couple puddles of oil in the driveway today. Checked the usual suspects (my old trucks, and nothing. Looked under the edge, it was soaked in trans oil. Located the leak high up on trans, but could not get my hands on it from underneath. It pumps out hard at idle in park. Removed airbox, battery and battery tray, and the offending part is a solenoid mounted in the start/stop accumulator. It is held on by 2 small Allen head bolts, has a 2 wire electrical connector and can leak an astonishing amount of oil. The pics show the 2 failed blue O rings on the solenoid. Also shows the solenoid itself and the hole where it belongs. Not hard to get to There are a couple ground wires under the airbox on the frame. Mine were greenish, so I took them off, cleaned and lubed them and sprayed with battery terminal protector. . So, if this happens to you, it's not the end of the world. **Also Posted in 2.0 Ecoboost forum.
  12. I know it's an old thread, but the glass on my 19 Titanium fully exploded while I was driving it last year. Thankfully the inner screen was closed. A million little pieces of glass to pick out of the inner roof frame.
  13. Thanks for the write-up. I'm doing mine tomorrow while I have it in the air for the trans fluid.

  15. Good video here for the 2019+. Gives you a diagnostic method to narrow down the actual issue.
  16. Good lord! How does a fluid change and reflash cost 650??? I'm in Canadia too, it seems most stuff costs more but that's a big one.
  17. I think we need a survey of all the people here who have complained to their dealer about this... Question: who here has complained and had their dealer say "really? We've had no other complaints and Ford isnt aware of a problem". I'd guess everyone had that response at first. It was the same response I got to my exploding sunroof, but i had already printed out 30 separate examples that i quickly grabbed off google. Gave it to the service guy for some light reading.
  18. I only replaced the DPFE sensor. Good thread on it here: https://www.ranger5g.com/forum/threads/whats-inside-a-dpfe-sensor-pics-inside.26792/
  19. Welcome to the party...If you read back a few pages, someone discovered that moisture gets into one of the EGR sensors which is the cause of the bucking for some people. Others have actual transmission issues, but the EGR sensor solved it for me. So, it could be coincidental with the purge valve issue, but the engine management systems all interact to some degree, so I wouldn't be surprised if the purge valve is causing your problem. My take on it is that the turbo 4cyl engines are very sensitive to sensor inputs. Before boost hits, there is not much torque being produced. If a sensor delays or diminishes boost, the engine requires more throttle input which definitely affects transmission shifting.
  20. Dont cut it open...for the lift (low pressure) pump, just drop the tank! I haven't done this particular vehicle, but many, many others, and it's never a horrible job.
  21. Welcome! I have a 2019 Titanium. It's my first "modern" vehicle (post 1990) and I was really worried if I would ike it or not. Well, I love it. Some quirks, as any vehicle has, but its comfy, reliable, zippy and good on fuel. Serviced the trans and PTU early on, and I change the oil/filter when display is at 40% life. I have put lots of miles on it, 3 air filters now, 2 cabin filters and that's about it. Turbo was replaced/updated under warranty because the wastegate lever had worn out. I wish that was a maintainable item. Otherwise, great stereo and seats and lots of gadgets. Going to add a factory tow hitch. Aftermarket ones hang too low for me.
  22. Excellent! Mine has been a couple weeks now, and I just put 1200 kms on it for a work trip. Still no sign of the bucking issue it had. The 8 speed trans combined with a turbo four in a beefy little vehicle does make for a touchy first 3 gears, but I can live with that. It may not be the most refined combo, but I believe it works well. Prior to the egr fix, I could not hold it at steady light throttle without horrible bucking and watching the tach bounce around. Even in neutral, it was impossible to hold the throttle at 1500 rpm. The rpms would just take off on their own. Fuel mileage is better and I actually enjoy driving it now.
  23. You should still be under warranty. I couldn't hear the attachment, but if you are hearing a loud high frequency ticking noise, it is probably the high pressure injection pump. It sits right on top of the engine, a bit offset to the drivers side and has a small foam cover on it. They can be noisy at times, I dont know why , but they seem to quiet down when warm.
  24. I have the same vehicle. 143,000 kms. I bought it with 53,000 on it and it has had the same driveability issue since I've owned it. Turbo replaced, trans and transfer case (PTU) oil changed, most recent trans software update done. None of it helped driveability. Thanks to this thread, I bought an EGR pressure feedback sensor and installed it today. Bought the complete assembly with the bracket, hoses and clamps, from the dealer. For the first time since owning it, my Edge is buck-free, no more lag, weird trans shifting etc.
