  1. Well since it complaint time....I find the seat cushion to be overly firm. I wish there was more padding/spring in the seat . Perhaps the heat/cooling seat has to be firm to work. But., to me, a little plusher would be better.
  2. Thanks for the info Ellent. However, I prefer to "walk on the wild side".
  3. So, how do you tell which bulb is about to burn out if they are both working?
  4. This is a product of crash dummies. The seat/headrest is best for dummies to withstand the crashes. Since dummies dont have to drive very far they dont mind the headrest. Since I , despite what my wife sometimes thinks, am not a dummy, couldnt get used to the headrest I had to turn it around. Therefore I put my life in my own hands. Perhaps I am a dummy, but I'm a comfortable one and captain of my fate......
  5. Hurtman, I'm sorry for you & your wifes loss. Even those of us with kids can feel your pain. Be well.....
  6. I have used Mothers Mag polish on the stainless steel tips on the Mountaineer for 5 years and it cleans tar & other gunk very well and the tips shine. Any good stainless/chrome cleaner will do wonders.
  7. Thanks Tribby. I thought it would be too simple to just make the switch to another speaker. Guess I'll have to spend some money to get the tweeter going.
  8. Just an FYI. I used the HIR bulbs (high beams) in my previous car for 3+ years. When I sold the Cad. I changed the HIR bulbs to the MKX. The HIR bulbs are worth every $ as they last and provide a great/bright high beam. HIR high beam is a "must have" IMO. As is HID for low beams...
  9. I have the OEM speakers that I replaced in the 07 MKX. They have the crossover elects. mounted to the speakers for a separate tweeter to plug in to. My question is; can I remove the crossover elects. and put it on another speaker to use a seperate tweeter with another (better) speaker? Thanks for any help or info, Bill
  10. Just to let you all know this is the same colored wires for the 07 MKX. What kind of veh. & yr. do you have?
  11. I used to only wash my black cars by hand or at Quarter washes that had horse hair brushes. Now I go where the price is good because I know that each spring I going to have to break out the buffer and swirl remover compound to put the paint back in condition. Sorta wish I had never cared about the paint/swirles but now I cant stand them. No matter what...A MI winter is going to cause a workout in the Spring. So, you might as well wash any way you want......
  12. My 98 Mountaineer has "instant fuel milage" readout. Would like the same thing on the MKX. Take it away and then bring it back with a spotlight!!! (Co. people)"No one will notice anyway".
  13. OK...There are rear console (high) vents and rear floor (low) vents. If you have it set on any floor setting for the front there will be air to the rear floor vents. Dash vents in use & rear console vents get air also. I didnt realize there were rear floor vents also. (never sat back there) Dress the kids warm, layers ect..........
  14. If I remember right, the air only goes to the rear if the front dash vents (maby defrost also) are in use. So, floor heat only = no rear air.
  15. Just go get some of that Price-Hill; Three Way Chile. That will warm you up and life will seem better.
  16. Where should the tweeters be placed? I'm always learning.......
  17. I dont think any of those gas saving things work. A waste of your money.
  18. Those were the only pics I took because the rest of the job is not hard at all. Just uncapping (behind the door pull and the handle) unscrewing (all around the door panel) and popping a couple of clips. Best to remove the silver covers and electrical plugs for the window & lock buttons before removing the door panels. Keep the tweeter/lock panel near because you will need it to place the new tweeter in a position that will clear the panel clip & lock button. There is not much room for error. Replace the door panel after tweeter & crossover mounting and then replace the covers for the tweeter & door switches. I used the male/female bullet type plugs for the connections (lubed w/dielectric grease) between the door panel(crossover & speaker) and the door connections. I dont know if this is the best way to do the install but it works for me. Let me know if you have any questions. Later, Bill Edit: No dynamat or foam speaker thingies.......
  19. Well I got the speakers changed today. There is a noticeable difference in the sound. I like it! The tweeters were a PIA to mount as there is not much room to fit them in. I had to clip off the mounting studs for the OEM speakers and drill a hole for a bolt and put a screw in the other bracket mounting hole. There is a great place for the crossover in the door. I cut out some of the stratiform so the fit was not too tight and there was room for the wires to exit. All in all, not too hard. Just wish it had been warmer that 30 deg.
  20. :P Right back at ya....Happy New Year to all of us! :party2: &/or :beerchug: Bill
  21. So. KLC, got your speakers yet? Mine arrived today. Will try to do the install tomorrow. Just pulled the pass. door panel to get a look and build confidence. Will keep you appraised.
  22. What is it?!? A guy puts in a dash kit and a fight breaks out. I dont see any one asking for opinions or a "how do you like it?" Let it go...Cool down....Use your head...Grow up..... You all know the phrases. I think of this site as a friendly community of people who want knowledge and sometimes help or to just show others what they are doing with their Edge/MKX. This type of derogatory comments has no place on this forum. IMHO although, as noted, no one asked.
  23. I have been thinking about this also. After reading your posts here I just ordered the same set. Now to find a warm place to do the install. Thanks for the info, Bill
  24. I like it. Looks better, to me, than the silver painted plastic.
