  1. :lastyear: Your problems have been overly documented and duly noted. :beatdeadhorse: Hope you have better luck in the coming year or loose your IP. :poke:
  2. Lets try the "search" function on this website. Lots of info out there/ in here. Too much to go into now. :yup:
  3. Measure the voltage at the alternator (14V) and then at the headlight plug (12V). Where did the two volts go? Lost due to inadequate wire size. OEM wire is marginal at best.
  4. I got my wife dual exhaust w/ S.S. tips for her Mountaineer. I'm pretty sure she is thrilled as she was just speechless.

  6. MKX has projector headlights which keep the light down and away from the oncomming cars. Edge doesn't. Go with the 35 watt. It is still a ton of lumens more than he has now. Then use the HIR bulbs for the high beam. I got mine on ebay and they are impressive......
  7. http://www.mobilehid.com/4300k.htm Above is a site that lists the appx lumens for the different Kelvin temps. Stock bulbs are appx 1,000 lumens.
  8. I bought one from Ebay that had the auto dim & compass & courtesy lights for about $60. Used of course but it works great in my sons Civic.
  9. I dont quite understand your question. Light output of 3000K is yellow and 43000K is white. Any K higher than 4300K is going into the blue spectrum of color. If you need good fog lights I would suggest the Hella Micro DE. http://www.fordedgeforum.com/index.php?showtopic=4160
  10. The "average driver" needs red dash lights flashing and maybe a shock through the seat bottom to alert them to a malfunction. I also would like to see more gauges on the dash and would like to thing I would monitor them. Although, when the head gasket blew on my Cad. at 75 mph. on I-69 I didnt notice the temp. untill the red light came on. Maybe I'm an average driver......
  11. When I bought my HID kit from Retro it came with a harness & capacitor and it fit and has worked great. No problems. I gave them all the info on what I wanted and the veh. I had and they did the all rest to provide what I needed. After reading your posts about caps & wiring ect., I wonder if you were not part of the problem. Hay, we all make mistakes and I could be making one right now.......
  12. This is not to be disagreeable but just to pass on my opinion. I got the HID from Retro and am extremely pleased with the results and their service & help. I opted for the 35 watt bulbs @ 43000K. I thought that since the optics for the projectors were meant for halogen bulbs I didnt feel confident that the brighter 55 watt bulbs wouldnt produce unwanted glare from the headlights to oncomming drivers. I have not seen the 55 watt bulbs in action so, I really dont know. They could be fine.....Others here have used 55 watt so maybe you could ask them. I went with the 4300K color bulbs because they put the most light on the road. Any higher K colors are less lumens and not as bright. I had a Cadillac and started with 6000K bulbs and soon changed to the 4300K and really noticed the difference in the light output. This is the best modification to the MKX for safety & drivabillity I know of.
  13. The "bud vase" is a dead givaway. However, it can be countered with some "Yosemite Sam" BACK OFF mud flaps.
  14. My MKX had deer damage and while at the body shop and front end parts were removed I brought the valance home to see about upgrading the fog lights. It seems that our fogs are a Ford style that are used on many cars & have been since 2004. Dont know the Mfg. They look like Projector type fog lights. However, on closer inspection, they are some style that has no name other than cheap. There is only a small slit that the light is emitted from. So I removed the OEM fogs. You need to take off the chrome front surround and take them out through the front of the valance. After eyeballing the mounting, I elongated the hole in the mounting bracket (drilled it out) of the Hellas so the light could be positioned in such a way that it was adjustable/aimable. I used some "L" type stock that I had as a mounting bracket. Flat stock would work as well. I can reach one side of the lights to tighten the "hold down" bolts and drilled a hole on the other side of the housing to be able to reach the opposite side to snuk the lights down once they are aligned. Will post some "after" pics when installed on the MKX. Double pics....???? Hella DE fog lights
  15. Why not just pull the fuse for the roof (so it doesnt get opened by mistake) and put the racks on the roof rails?
  16. Got the estimate for about $5,100. plus whatever they will charge for painting the valance and rear black portion of the bumper body color. Thank goodness for 0 Deductible deer coverage.
  17. If you want yellow color beams than you want 3500K/3000K HID bulbs. 4300K is what all OEM HID bulbs are.
  18. My wife hit a deer last night on M-66 @ I-96. Foggy night and the HID lights allowed her to see the deer soon enough to hit the brakes and do less damage. She was almost stopped. The deer got up and ran away. She was able to drive 20 miles home. The car at the body shop now. No estimate yet. So its a good time to get the front & rear valences painted body color. Gotta find something good about this.

    Newbie here

So was the fan button. All you were missing is the ability to change the air direction from the dash vents to another source. But then I have only used that setting when the temp was 90+ Deg. getting into a closed car.
  20. Interior and puddle lamps come on at unlock when the headlights are disabled . Try the lights in the manual position as opposed to the auto lights. May be a bad/weak ballast. PIA no matter what....
  21. This (Flex) is trading UP? A year newer veh. only. Not better just different.
  22. A pulling then pushing then wiggeling while pulling motion while the paperclip/allen wrench is moved around with pressure should release the clip. Strength should not be an issue.
