  1. Another poster had issues with the lift gate working on a slope-I don;t remember how much slope, but the thing wouldn't work to close and they had to close it manually. So, I don't think you have anything to worry about.
  2. I haven't looked at the schematic for this, but it sounds like a limit switch. I would guess there are two, one for each direction (e.g. full forward, full back). Again, this is just a guess. TW
  3. About two years ago the passenger side came loose and actually came apart-the rubber wore through. Mine is an 09 Limited. When I took it to my dealer to get it replaced, the shop manager said they weren't really needed. After some discussion, they replaced both-I figured if one went bad the other was sure to follow. About two months ago, the passenger side came loose from the front. I ended up using just a dab of super glue on the front, between the accordion looking thing and the bracket it fits in. No problems since. However, if Ford is still using these, they must have some purpose. TW
  4. Silicone should be fine. A little goes a long way, as well. A lot of dust bunnies can get to the rails, if (like me) you keep the BAMR open at every opportunity.
  5. I forgot to add, the thing would close to about 8" from complete closure, then stop and retract a bit.
  6. About a month ago my BAMR wouldn't close. It had started getting slower this Spring, when I first started using it this year before this issue. My dealer fixed the problem in ~ 10 minutes, by squirting a little lubricant in the tracks and working the thing back and forth. I also sprayed some garage door lubricant in the tacks and around the moving parts I could access. I've had no issues since. Also, the dealer said spraying lubricant is a recommended maintenance item. TW
  7. One more thing, you get (or at least used to get) a larger radiator and transmission cooler with the factory tow package.
  8. Yes, But you can't tow with the Sport. While I don't tow much, I still want that option. And, while I have no complaints with the engine in my Edge, I would just like to have the "modern" engine.
  9. Does anyone know if this will be a factory option? Thanks, TW
  10. This would be a good thing for the dealership to check during servicing.
  11. I drove in ice a couple of weeks ago and made it just fine. My ride is an 09 with FWD. I replaced the worn out factory tires with Michelin. My wheels are the 20" plastic ones.
  12. The edge was my top pick, I have an 09 I bought new and am now looking to replace it. After seeing the 2.7 EB availability, I may just change to an MKX.
  13. 2009 Limited bought new here. I wanted the BAMR and Nav. I really like the 20" wheels. I'm thinking of buying a 2016. We'll see. TW
  14. I bought my 09 new a little over 5 years ago. It is a Limited Edition with the 20" fake chrome wheels, navigation and BAMR. It is the first vehicle I have ever bought that has had zero issues within the first year of ownership. I have owned new Hondas, Nissans, Mazdas and Lincolns but all had some issues (although most were minor). I like the ride, it has minimal road noise and handles fairly well, especially for an SUV. Most important, it is comfortable. I did have to replace two seals on the BAMR, but that was two years ago and replaced under warranty. I will buy another Edge, probably in two years. JMHO, TW
  15. Central Arkansas here. We have also had a few 100 degree days with high humidity. I have no negative issues regarding the BAMR and would defintely buy it again. YMMV, TW
  16. Hi and Welcome, I just bought mine the first of the month. Love it so far. Cheers, TW
  17. JUst under 19 with just under 14K miles. TW
  18. Yep, My bad. There are color and packaging changes. My GUESS to the differences in the gas milieage is in information on mileage turned in from the 09 model year. I know looking through the sales catalogue for the 10's different EPA estimates are used throughout. Some pages list 17, some 18. Maybe Ford "fudged" a little for the 10's. JMHO, TW
  19. Hi, According to my local Ford Sales Manager there is no difference between an 09 and 10. Some my argue that the 10 model has a Synch upgrade (and that’s true) but the dealer can provide this upgrade for around $50-if not for free. The package selection is different between the two models years but the individual equipment is the same. So, if like me you are looking at price, incentives and new features-I would go for the 09. It’s the same vehicle, a little cheaper (around $ 1,500 depending on options) and has better incentives. JMHO, TW
  20. I have the Tri Coat and love it. I had one small area that needed touch up on the little plate that holds the Tag Lights on the back of the vehicle. That's the only thing I have found-so far. I have noticed this color is hit-or-miss on vehicles. On some the color really shines-on others it is quit bland. Maybe it's hard to apply? YMMV, TW
  21. OK, I called my parts department today. The spare tire cover costs around $80. Each (of two) sides that go around the spare costs around $145 each. So, the whole Cargo Managment System will set you back close to $400 if you go that route. I thin I will look into the spare cover but they can keep their side panels. TW
  22. I like PLedge-but the extra moisturizing formula. I have used Pledge for the past couiple of decades on the interior of my cars. It smells kind of nice too. TW
  23. I believe the Sport is based on the SEL-it's what the little marketing thingy shows. TW
  24. I am also intereted in the factory system if it's not to high. My dealers says they are on the Ford Site, but I haven't been able to find them. He also quoted a price of around $80, which I would defintely buy at that price. TW
  25. Hi, Turning off the OD for the transmission is to allow for the motor to add bracking when going down hills. So, I would deactivate OD when going down hills and turn it back on for slight grades or level land. As fars as chaning oil/transmission fluids I would follow the Owners Manual and replace them them sooner than you would otherwise-it lists oil changes at 5,000 miles for towing/heavy use versus 7,500 miles normal operations. YMMV, TW
