  1. I submitted a price inquiry / request to one of my local dealers to let them know what I was looking for. they sent me a few emails and the internet sales manager guy introduced himself. I told him what colors and configuration / options I wanted and he said he would look for one like that. the next day, someone (not the same guy) called me from the dealer to make an appointment for me to come in so they can ask me some questions. I was supposed to go to the dealer today, but they don't even have an SEL in stock. if I'm not going to be able to see what I'm actually interested in buying, is there any reason to even go there? so I cancelled my appointment. but I'm probably not planning to buy my Edge for a few more months anyway. I'll give them a chance to sell me when they actually have the one I want, but until then this seems like a waste of time. shouldn't I just have them call me back when they find one? In the meantime I was planning to go to another dealer that does have an SEL in stock, to sit in it or test drive. I'd probably not consider buying it since there's not one the color I want or anything else and I don't care for this dealership but at least I'd be able to sit in and try it out. any similar experiences so far? Thanks!
  2. what about the Edge's optional all-weather mats. not as good? not worth it?
  3. FYI, I've already picked all the options I want on my Edge, and will be buying it sometime in the next few months. but I've been slow to decide on interior color until I can actually compare in person. my ranger is tan inside and since the day I bought it I've liked that color scheme, much more than grey (and slightly more than recent dark grey offerings). but I could be swayed to charcoal for the Edge, if I'm convinced it won't cause the car to get too hot here in Calif. especially with the large sunroof. otherwise, camel all the way (sorry, med lt stone!) I will say I know a guy who had a loaner MKX right before they released them and I got to sit in it. and the inside was charcoal or black and seemed very nice. this one had all options, so it included the glass roof and still seemed OK. it's not like I live in Las Vegas where its' 110F anyway let me know what you guys think about interior choices. thanks
  4. I thought the keyless entry (number pad) was a standalone option. whatever happened to that? so it's a key fob instead?? EDIT: nevermind, I see the entry pad is part of the convenience package that comes with SEL / SEL-Plus trim. anyway I'd like to know if it's a number pad or a key fob since I haven't seen one yet. but I should be able to go look at the dealer in a day or two
  5. yes drive-by-wire systems can be quite an adjustment at first. but these things are designed to "learn" your driving style over time. so after a little while (your first or 2nd tank of gas), it remembers the way that you tend to use the accelerator and after that learning curve tends to be a lot more efficient and responsive
