  1. Well I had a chance to monkey around with the existing headrests. It appears the leather is stitched and glued permanently to the foam so there is no getting accessing to the top of the posts. The posts themselves appear to be aluminum so I was able to bend them maybe 5 degrees. I really wanted to go about 15 degrees but after staining like hell to get 5 I just settled for now. I had to remove the headrest and place it on the floor. I used my knee to put all my weight on it while pulling up on the post with my hand. I even had to have my wife push down on my baclk to give me extra force down and leverae. I nearly gve myself a hernia. Once reinstalled in my Edge I noticed minor improvement so I will likely try to bend them some more eventtually.
  2. Headrest Update. Well I tried the the Fusion headrest which was the right color and stitching but the posts were too wide. I tried the Taurus and Taurus X which also had the right color and stitching but the post were too thick in diameter (although the width was just right). The Escape was my last hope. I never got to the point of checking the posts width or diameter because it didn't have the white stitching. This is starting to sound like the Golden Locks and the 3 Little Bears Story right? :-) My next step is to investigate bending the posts about 5-1 degrees on the Edge's existing headrests. I'll let you know how that turns out.
  3. I plugged in my 2 gb flash drive which was full of songs and it worked instantly. And it was fast too. Unlike when I put 100+ mp3 songs a CD, the MP3 could search and skip thru songs as fast as you could push the button. Basically makes the 6 disc CD changer obsolete and irrelevant in my opinion. I ordered a 4 gb flash drive from Newegg for $30 shipped. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16820233027 With the ability to pull up music so fast I decided I wanted more selection.
  4. Ouch, just talked to the Ford Part Dept. $270 for a set of '08 Taurus headrest and $240 for the '08 Escape. I'll check them out on Friday and see which ones I like best assuming the posts line up.
  5. Thanks SALEENS7 but I opted for the DVD Ent System. Those headrest look good though. I'm pretty sure pulling a set from the Taurus, Escape, or other Ford will work. I just need to determine how and how much.
  6. I sit in a very reclined position as well. They still annoy me. Not to mention they are too tall. I just don't like them.
  7. Great, now prepare for the earth to start spining slower and slower on it's axis. Plus you have to roll your clock back this weekend which will add another hour to your wait.
  8. OK, I can't find any real differences between the '07 and '08 model headrests. The '08 still tilts forward and are nearly 3 stories tall. I remember reading where one poster swapped them out for his Ford Escape headrests which were a perfect match in color and post width. When I take delivery on Friday, I plan to yank a headrest out of a 2008 Escape from the lot to see if it will match the charcoal black leather in my '08 Edge. Assuming it fits and matches, my next task will be to find out how much a set of headrests will cost me. Also where to buy them. I will probably glance at the headrest in the Taurus, Taurus X, Explorer, etc. I believe all will have the same post width and matching leather color. Any suggestions on where to buy some replacement headrests and how much they might cost? By the way, although they are much smaller in size, the rear seat headrest tilt forward as well. Assuming you want to recline the seat back a bit and rest your head back, you can't really do it comfortably.
  9. Well I couldn't tell any difference with the headrest. I didn't have a chance to do a side by side comparison but I made a point to inspect each one on different occasions and the 2008 headrest seemed just as annoying to me as the '07's.
  10. My 2008 Edge will arrive at the dealer early next week. I turn in my Ford Five Hundred on 10-30. I plan to take delivery of my Edge on 11-2. The last fews days feels like a month. Normally the days go by so fast I find myself wondering where they all went. Now that I'm waiting for my Edge it's as if time is standing still.
  11. What exactly changed on the headrest? Are they not tilted as far forward as the 2007 model?
  12. He meant he got Loaded at the local bar after picking up his new Edge. Loaded doesn't always mean Fully Loaded. i.e. Herbie: Fully Loaded Now Herbie had it all. :-)
  13. Two things Ford has likely done to improve braking is better tires and a stiffer suspension to reduce nose dive in panic stops. Those are safe assumptions. I have yet to read anything about specific changes made in the braking system.
  14. Did you get the $1000 rebate? Do you know the lease residual %? i.e. 52% What color did you get? Did you opt for the Wear-Care coverage?
  15. It's all in their damn computer. I have personally seen the computer screen at my local dealer and it showed more than a dozen 2008 Edges due in this month. Some have already arrived. Others here have already bought a 2008 Edge and received $1000 rebate which also is in the dealer's computers.
  16. I don't think those are residual numbers for a 3 year lease but rather a 2 year lease.
  17. Remember the Limited comes standard with the 18" chrome clad wheel. The 2007 model charged you $750 for the 18" chrome clad wheels but not so on the 2008. I'm sure it's factored into the base price. As for the chrome part, we know Ford has been using chrome cladding. Some may liken this to a hub cap because it is simply an artificial chrome appearance. However it is much appealing than a hub cap. For one thing, you need not worry about it flying off on a hard turn. Plus the chrome cladding is more durable (i.e. won't fade from the sun). For all practical purposed it's the same a chromed aluminum rim. Most people will never tell the difference unless the lean down and tap the chrome with their finger. The shallow hollow sound gives it away. I haven't confirmed but it most likely covering an aluminum rim. The added weight dynamics of a 20" steel wheel would be too detrimental to acceleration and braking.
  18. The guys over in this forum are kind enough to lookup your build info if you provide your VIN http://www.blueovalforums.com/forums/index.php?showforum=80 I even got my window sticker. http://mysite.verizon.net/res1ac97/2008_Edge.pdf 16 City / 24 Highway, Sport Suspension with 20" wheels confirmed
  19. Have you tried updating your iPhone? http://www.apple.com/iphone/softwareupdate/
  20. So what % is that tint on the front windows? It's look like about 30% cause it's slightly light than the rear windows.
  21. That's why these are called Chrome "Clad". A traditional chrome wheel is chromed steel which is much heavier than a aluminum rim with a chrome clad cover. Trust me, you wouldn't want the added weight of a 20" steel rim. The impact on MPG and braking would be significant. Also remember part of what you're paying for in the in the option is an upgraded Pirelli tire. At least on the 2008 model.
  22. Holy crap. The EPA Hwy MPG dropped to 22 mpg from 25 mpg!!! That can't be soley due the 20" wheels. Can someone please check a 2008 without the 20" wheels and see what the Hwy Mpg reads. Maybe the figure was recalculated to comply with EPA new stricter real world way of calculating MPG ?
  23. You can find the Dark Ink Blue on the 2008 Taurus. I saw it and actually mistook it for black. Only upon closer inpection did I realize it had a hint of blue in it. I guess in the sunlight it might be easier to see the blue but in the shade it looks virtually black. I didn't like it.
  24. Don't fall for it. It's just a rebadged '07.
