  1. Did anyone notice that Salesman started to say the DVD Nav comes "standard"?
  2. OK, I researched everything about the Edge to the nth degree but I admittedly know little about DVD Navigation in general. Here are some of my questions? -- Does the system come with a DVD of Maps? -- Will I need to buy additional Maps and at what cost? -- Is there a monthly service fee? -- Does the system use GPS to show where you are on the Map? -- Does the system give you verbal commands on where to drive once you set your destination? -- Does this system alert you to traffic jams and road construction? -- Does the system show landmarks and rest stops and such? -- The 2008 will add Voice-Activation. Is this a big deal?
  3. We have the 2006 Explorer and it's our 4th Explorer since 1995. It has a tight smooth ride, quiet interior, and good power in either engine. It truely is the best Explorer ever. With that said I'd still lean to the Edge. I'll be replacing my Ford Five Hundred in 2 months with the 2008 Edge. My wifes drive the Explorer. I've driven the Edge several times. I love it nimbleness compared to the Explorer. It's easier to get in and out of compared to the Explorer. Access via the hatch is faster (cause the lift gate is smaller and lighter). It's easier to park because it's about 1 ft shorter than the Explorer. It really does have everything the Explorer does aside from the 3rd row seat. Plus it does get significantly better MPG than the Explorer. The vehicle may be free but do you have to pay for your own gas? The Edge will still get you more looks and comments from friends and strangers (if you like that sort of stuff). The second row seat will recline more the those in the Explorer. You can't get the BAMR (Big Ass Moon Roof) on the Explorer.
  4. Thanks for the suggestions but I plan to lease so I can residualize the cost of the rims. I'm really only paying for about have the rims cost so the thought of dropping $1500 for a rim tire combo is more than I'm willing to spend in that area. I like flash but within a reasonable budget.
  5. It's hard to do an apples to apples comparison in those sizes. I did find that Bridgestone makes the Dueler H/L 400 in both sizes and the price difference is a mere $24 per tire. The Goodyear Fortera 245/60 R18 and the Goodyear Eagle RS 245/50 R20 were priced exactly the same. I'm not really seeing much here to justify the pricetag.
  6. Sh!t. Now I found this demo of the Sync on an MKX. It uses what appears to be a radio with a larger display screen but I think it looks very cheesey in comparision to the DVD Nav's LCD. If this is what I can expect then the will relutantly fork over the extra cash for the DVD Nav.
  7. I suppose that is possible but that would be extremely cheesey. Plus the screen on the radio is extremely limited in size. Half the time the song title can't even fit without scrolling horizontally. I will say now that if it takes ordering the DVD Nav just to get the LCD to take full advantage of the Sync then I'll be getting the DVD Nav.
  8. I found the Sync Demo on YouTube http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jiUiJaIlLRg It clearly shows the LCD screen used to view Caller ID, Text Messages, and Track Listings. Maybe I'm answering my own question here but I don't see how you could possibly use those features without a LCD. I can see the Edge in the Demo has the DVD Nav buttons to the right of the screen. And also, the way the menus are laid out on some of those demo screens, I'm gonna say it has to be a touch screen.
  9. I know there was a lot of previous discussions on the 2007 tires. Specifically that the Continental tires on the 2007 would be replaced in 2008 with another brand to improve stopping distance. I plan to get the 20" rims on the Limited and told my Sales guy that I thought the $895 price tag for the 20" Chrome rims over the 18" Chrome rims was kind of steep considering the '07 model Ford only charged $750 to upgrade from an 18" Aluminum rim to 18" Chrome rim. My Sales guy said the added cost was probably due to the larger tires however when checked it, I found out that 245/60 R18 and 245/50 R20 have exactly the same dimensions. So it's not like you're paying for more rubber...in actuality you get less rubber and more rim. It would have been nice to at least bump the size to a 255/50. For $895 it better be a darn good brand. Can anyone confirm the brand yet?
  10. So if the 2008 Limited comes standard with Sync does that mean it will have a in-dash LCD screen even if you don't opt for the DVD Navigation? I think I recall watching the Sync Demo video on their website and it did show an LCD screen. One has to wonder if you do get the DVD Navigatoin, how busy will that screen get if it's controlling your iPOD, Phone (i.e. Caller ID), all the while trying to utilize a map on the navigation system. Also, will LCD be a touch screen? What size screen will it be? Sorry to sound so ignorant but I have never had DVD Nav before and the Sync is new to all of us.
  11. I got them from my sales guy who read them right out of his ordering system.
  12. I now have some pricing information on the 2008 Limited* _______________Invoice___________MSRP Base Price---------$28,525---------------- $30,320 20" Chrome Rims-----$761-------------------$895 Power Life Gate-------$417-------------------$490 DVD Entertainment--$1101-----------------$1295 DVD Nav---------------$1696-----------------$1995 Sirius Sat Radio-------$166-------------------$195 *Limited includes Sync, RSS, Homelink, 18" Chrome rims, and Leather
  13. I'm glad to see the 2008 Limited will be decked out with standard options. i.e. RSS, Homelink, Sync, 18" Chrome Rims I'm curoius however how much this will push the base price to? The '07 SEL+ base was $29,070 and I'm guessing the '08 Limited will be around $31,500 given the standard options. I also wonder how much more the 20" Chrome rims will cost over the standard 18" Chrome rims. Maybe $395 more?
  14. What exactly is the "One Touch Integrated Start" mentioned on page 2 of the 2008 ordering guide under standard equipment.
  15. You know what would be nice would be some sort of small reservoir tray that could catch the water. Then the water could just stand until it evaporates or spills out a little at a time while driving. The reason I say this would be nice is cause my garage floor has been stained making it waterproof. When the our vehicles leave, that little puddle is as slick as ice. Sometimes you can't see it when the garage door is shut because there is no obvious reflection. Then there are the times you step into the garage real quick wearing only your socks to get something and step into that damn puddle. We are only taking about maybe 6-8 ounces of water so how hard would it have been for an engineer to have designed a little catch tray?
  16. A new Limited Edition Model Standard One-touch Power up(and down) driver's side window Chrome accent strips around window model Optional 20" Chrome Rims (previsouly only 18" Chrome rims available) Power Lift Gate HomeLink Sync Red Leather Seats and Stiching interior appearance package Turbocharger (just kidding)
  17. Isn't that the strip of molding at the base of the windows stretching from the side view mirrow to the rear quarter window? I can see it's chrome in this photo. http://www.fordedgeforum.com/index.php?aut...=si&img=377 And in this 2007 Edge it's black. http://www.fordedgeforum.com/index.php?aut...q=si&img=83 Th chrome accent looks nice. More like the Mazda CX-7 and CX-9 look actually.
  18. Why would you want to remove the Emblem? The only emblem removal I can endorse is removing the Taurus emblem and replacing it with Five Hundred. :yup:
  19. My understanding is that the '08 ordering guide is due out sometime in July. Job1 (initial production) should start early Sept. The '08s should start hitting the dealer lots in mid-Oct. You might still be able to order an '07 now. If you can it should only take about 4 weeks from order to delivery.
  20. OK so I went to my local dealer today to catch a glimpse of the Dark Ink Blue I'm considering ordering for my '08 Edge. According to the dealer's website they had two '08 Taurus' (1 black and 1 blue). When I got there I only saw 2 black Taurus'. I asked the salesperson for assistance. She said they only had 2 blacks and no blues. On my way out I stared again at the black Taurus under covered area. I stepped closer...closer still....leaned in to within about 1 foot and low and behold, it was dark ink blue. It would have to be a pretty sunny day I think to bring out the blue in that paint color. Although I haven't seen the Light Ice Blue yet (currently on the '08 Escape and Taurus) I think I might be leaning towards that color instead. I'm not a fan of black and dark ink blue is much closer to back than it is to blue. Too bad the dealer didn't have any Ice Blues to preview but I think I will have to see both side by side in the direct sunlight to make my final decision. But you can bet 95 people of out 100 people will mistake ink blue for black. And with that in mind, it's not a pretty black either. My first impression was it wasn't black enough. Kind of like Steve Martin's tux in "Father of the Bride". On the flip side I was worried about the Ice Blue looking to feminine since I'm a macho beefcake and all (just kidding). However if it looks refined, classy and upscale like the Blue Metallic I've seen on the Lexus RX 330 then I can live with that. If you're considering ordering this color site unseen, don't. I highly advise you to preview it first on the Taurus.
  21. So does that mean the ordering guide will be available on the website on Monday?
  22. Not that I'm complaining but I don't see a hatch handle on the '08 media pics. I recall reading that people complained about this and Ford was to install one like the MKX has. Can I trust the media pics are correct? Personally I think the handle on the MKX is ugly to I'm glad not to have one on the Edge. I plan to get the power liftgate anyway.
  23. When comparing some of the media pics of the '07 and '08 I noticed the center stack no longer has the brushed nickel appearance around the center air vents. This is positive news since that area wraps up all the way to the dash and around the dash tray. That means less reflection. Also, I'm not 100% sure but it looks like the shiney chrome on the shifter handle has been replaced with a brush matte strip. If only they'd replace the shifter base plate with the matte appearance as well.
  24. Any news on if the DVD Entertainment System will be available in the Headrest for those owners who also want the Vista roof? I'm not referring to the Dealer installed version but a Factory Installed option. As for the 20" rims. Any benefit to having them or are they just for show? Won't they actually cause a slight bumpier ride?
  25. Looks' nice but can your Mustang transform into a Robot? The new Chevy Camaro can. :-)
