  1. Yes I saw it. It was BS. I could see where they blacked out the Ford Blue Oval on the grill but 3 bar chrome grill is hard to miss as a Ford signature product. Ford should file suit to have this pulled. Why didn't they use a Lexus RS350? Is it because they are trying to imply that Ford is less reliable. I just love how they show the typical steam coming out of the radiator as if the thing overheated. Pleeze. I've seen lots of car commercials where the camera angles do a pretty go job at keeping you from easily identifying the vehicle. This commercial showed the Edge in clear site. Not good.
  2. Well the Limited comes standard with the 18" Chrome Clad rims. It costs $895 MSRP (or $760 invoice) to upgrade to the 20" Chrome Clad rims with the Pirelli tires.
  3. Hey Folks, I know the 20" wheels will come with Pirelli's but I'm starting to have second thoughts. I actually placed my order last wheels with 20" rims. I still have plenty of time to make a change. I'm driving a '07 Demo now for an overnight road test and I have so say the 18" Chrome Clad Wheels look very nice and do fit the Edge well. It's making me wonder if the extra cash for the 20" is really a necessity. And before some of you say "Just go for it dude", please consider I'm already getting the DVD Nav and DVD Ent so I'm pushing my budget. My primary concern with the 18"' is the tire brand. The 2007 Edge wasn't known for having the best tires. Since the '08 is due to start being built in about 10 days I'm guessing the tires may already be sitting around at the plant so I was hoping someone could provide a definitive answer as to the brand. Thanks in advance.
  4. Well I can tell you the Dark Ink Blue and Light Ice Blue are both used on the new 2008 Taurus. Go check them out at the dealership.
  5. My guess is it means they may on have say 1000 Sync units on hand with additional inventory not expected until later in the year. So the first 1000 Limiteds will have Sync. After that they made be delayed until additional Sync inventory arrives.
  6. Yea, the SYNC is cool and a must have IMO. I'd like to see a few improvements though. Faster response time, ability to store music in the system (say 1 gb minimum), more natural sounding voice, and even different voices. I borrowed my buddy's $499 Tom Tom last month and have to say I was very impressed with the number of voices to select from. Granted this is computer generated but you should at least be able to change it up a little. I wonder if that Sync voice is the same on used for the DVD navigation?
  7. Bras just scream 80's. Besides, Bras can actually cause more damage than they prevent. If water gets under the bra and sits, it can cause the clearcoat to cloud. Also, fine grains of sand and dust get beneath the bra a rub fine scratches into the paint after time. Rock chips are gonna happen. It the cost of driving on the road.
  8. I ordered mine today. A loaded Limited. If it gets built without the Sync then I won't be taking delivery. I'd hate to have to wait 8 weeks to find out though.
  9. OK, I did a stare and compare can on detect 2 differences in the center stack and steering wheel from the '07 model. I see the chrome rings around the temp controls and also a chrome strip on the steering wheel controls. Aside from the red stitching and red leather those are the only differences I see.
  10. High Risk...High Reward. If I have to wait a few weeks extra then so be it.
  11. I can tell you that the 20" will come with Pirelli tires. Not sure about the 18". I think the 20" looks better in that is fit the Edge's size better, without looking pimpish.
  12. What do you mean by Nav radio? Satellite Radio or DVD Navigation? Why exactly are you saying it's high risk?
  13. I'm certain they are not power folding mirrors although that would be nice. By the way, what is Job 2 as compared to Job 1 ?
  14. Sometimes a little rust and corrosion can cause the shutter. Ever notice how your discs looks a little rusty a couple days after after driving thru a rainstorm, assuming you go without driving it afterwards. Corrosion on the rear brake pads on my 2005 Five Hundred was so bad they had a recall. It felt light you described but more pronounced. It first surfaced after I went on vacation for 2 weeks and it sat in the garage. I guess the rust and corrosion had time to build up without being removed thru normal braking. Once you get too much it may take a few hard stops to wipe it off.
  15. I just watched the Sync video demo on this site as well. The voice activated stuff seems a little slow to me.
  16. I wouldn't exactly categoried those as "power" folding rear seats. Aren't they more like "spring-action" folding seats? It ain't like they power fold back into the upright position. BTW, I'm glad to see there is no cut out handle on the hatch. That would have been ugly IMO.
  17. I never said I thought Dark Amethyst was a good color. Only that is was a divergence from their typical colors. It probably didn't sell as well as they had hoped so they dropped it.
  18. No offense DirtEddie but I'm sure we'd see just as many critics saying "I can't believe Ford puts out the same old boring White ever year. Don't they have anyone in Ford with any creativity?" You can't win either way. Personally I think White is boring is looks like a gov't vehicle. It's not like Ford didn't offer other light colors. i.e. Creme and Light Sage I give Kudos to Ford to offering Copper and Amethyst. You wouldn't have seen a bold color like that in the past. Ford's just trying to stay current.
  19. I'm guessing the Vapor Silver will be very close to the Pewter.
  20. So how much different will the Vapor Silver be from the Pewter Silver? I'm not seeing really any difference in the comparison shots I can find. I wasn't a big fan of the Pewter because the chrome accents tend not to pop like they would on other colors. I'd love to wait until I can see all of these new colors on the Edge but I want to order to get the exact options I like and this is time sensitive since my current lease expires 10-30. I'll probably just have to roll the dics on the Vapor Silver.
  21. I plan to order the 2008 Edge in August and have decided on every option aside from the color. At first the Dark Ink Blue got me excited until I saw it in person and discovered it basically looks black. Next I thought the Light Ice Blue might be my next choice. Elegant, classy, and upscale. However when I saw it on a Taurus X yesterday I thought it looked rather feminine. I was hoping for a deep metallic blue like that on the Lexus RX350 but instead it looked more like a Power or Baby Blue with very little noticeable metallic. In fact the paint looked flat from more than 6 feet away. Granted it was in the show room and not the sunlight but I just don't think it's a guys color. Since I plan to get the 20" chrome rims and the charcoal interior, I'm now leaning towards the Vapor Silver. I just wanted to get your thoughts on the Light Ice Blue. You can find it on the 2008 Escape, Taurus amd Taurus X. Please advise.
  22. What say you all with the DVD Nav about this excerpt from the Edmunds MKX review? "Scanning the small navigation screen is difficult, as the location icon and three large buttons shrink the display to near-useless proportions."
  23. Do you own an Edge or have driven one with the Camel interior? I have the Five Hundred with the Camel dash and I can tell you the reflection is fierce on a sunny day when I'm not wearing my polarized sun glasses. Cleaning the windshield is missing the point. It all has to due with the color of the dash in combination with the angle the windshield is in relation to the dash. It has nothing to do with what folks are choosing to focus on. For example, many Audio/Video enthusiasts tend to shy away from Plasma TVs since they use a high gloss reflective screen. While it works great for night time viewing, the day time viewing sucks because every light source in your room reflects off the screen thus washing out the image. The viewer is not making a conscious choice to look at the reflection nor can he make a conscious choice not to look at the reflection. The problem is inherent in the angle. Just the right angle brings out the worst reflection. Those who think Ford can fix this sort of a complete redesign are mistaken. A darker dash will minimize the reflection significantly. The only other thing I think might could help is a Polarize windshield. However that might present two problems. 1) High cost 2) Strange affects looking thru polarized glass while already wearing polarized sun glasses.
  24. With the addition of the Limited comparing apples to apples is a little hard. The '08 Ltd comes standard with Sync, RSS, Homelink, Audiophile, and 18" Chrome rims. This options total about $1870 (assuming Homelink at $195 and Sync at $295). Add that to the base price of the '07 SEL + and you come out $30,940. So that would mean a Limited priced at MSRP $30,320 would provide a package value savings of $620. Of course that may be less when you start talking in terms of invoice pricing. But the bottom line is the Edge seems to be priced lower rather than higher than the previous model, at least in the higher end line.
  25. OK, I'm all in. I can't tell you how many fights my wife and I have had over the years when we travel and get lost. You know the story. Man gets lost, woman tells Man to pull over and ask for directions, Man denies being lost, fights commences, no sex at the next hotel stop. :-)
