  1. That sounds about right. I'm sure a dealer install hitch is available but still won't won't have the bigger battery, radiator, etc.
  2. I've watched the Sync Commercial on Youtube http://youtube.com/watch?v=jiUiJaIlLRg and it looks interesting. It clearly indicates compatibility with the Apple iPod. However, I wonder if it will be just as compatible with the Apple iPhone? I'm seriously considering the iPhone and the Sync system. I'm not yet sure what the price tag will be on the Sync system in the 2008 Edge but I think I'll pass regardless if it isn't fully compatible with the Apple iPhone. At first I said to myself "Hey, both the iPod and iPod are Apple products so if works with one why not the other?" Then I said to myself "Crap, Sync is powered by Microsoft and I know that they are always battling with Apple in some fashion". Case in point, the very popular and free iTunes software isn't Vista compatible. Well it might be by now but Apple wasn't in any rush to come out with an update to make it work on a Vista PC. I know this was a stab at Microsoft's Vista. Now let's say they probably already know about the Sync system and want to sabotage it as well be ensuring the iPhone won't work with that either. If I had to pick, I'd pick the iPhone. It has much more capability than the Sync system.
  3. One thing I don't like about these headrests is that are too tall. They are more Portrait than Landscape in shape. I believe Ford will be offering a DVD Entertainment System in the headrests in the '08. I would guess the headrest would have to be a little wider because the current size wouldn't support even a 7" LCD screen. The new system may be similar to the Ford authorized dealer install system shown below. I'm pretty sure those are diffrerent headrests.
  4. OK here's the Headrest DVD Entertainment System shown as a Dealer-Installed Ford Licensed Accessory in the brochure Ford mailed me. I can tell by the shape these are not the factory headest. I'm not sure where the DVD is inserted however. Does the LCD screen flip down and the DVD is inserted back it? I like the look of the system. I hope the 2008 is optioned with something similar. By the way, does anyone know if the Limited might come with Memory Seating? That's another option I've come to love. Also, I've read that the Edge didn't have a hatch release in the cabin. I guess that won't matter since I'll likely get the power liftgate anyway.
  5. Don't gets sucked into the whole E85 thing. I don't have the energy now to go into the whole story but essentially. - The cars aren't anymore fuel efficient. - The E83 isn't really that much cheapers - E85 fuel don't burn are clean. - E85 takes more energy to refine than petroleum. - Using corn for fuel raises the costs of many food products due to increased demand. Don't flame me if you think one or more of the above isn't true. They may not all still be true today but these are things I've read about E85 over the last 1-2 years. The money you save in fuel will be spent and them some on increased food products. Corn price have already gone up 40% in the last 6 months due to rising demand. What doesn't have corn syrup in it these days? It's not the Holy Grail that many would have you believe. Hybrids are the next best alternative right now.
  6. How is the MKX Liftgate different? I know the 2008 Edge will have a Power liftgate Option. Is that what you're referring to?
  7. I'm interested in what someone mentioned earlier about the Rear Seat DVD Entertainment System being in the back of the headrest for 2008 rather than mounted in the center headliner. This makes perfect since so Ford can then make more money on options by selling customers both the Vista Roof and DVD System in the same vehicle. The only added cost would be the 2nd LCD screen. Yesterday I received a large marketing mailer for the 2007 Edge complete with a photos of the Genuine Ford Dealer installed Headrest DVD Ent System. It's looked sweet. I will scan in the photo and post it. I'm curious if the new factory installed DVD Ent will be exactly the same? I'm still not clear on where the DVD's go in either? Another observation is that the standard Edge headrest are more Portrait shaped while the headrest shown with the Dealer installed DVD LCD screens are more landscape shaped. When inspecting the Edge at the Dealer I inquired about the dealer installed DVD system but they couldn't really answer my questions since they hadn't sold one yet. I couldn't envision the LCD mounted in the existing Portrait shaped headrest because it just didn't look wide enough to fit. I don't like the tall look of the headrests anyway so that's another reason I'm hoping the factory installed DVD actually use the landscaped shaped headrests. Also, when the wireless headsets aren't used where does the sound come from? The car speakers or small hidden speakers next tot he LCD screen?
  8. Well it's appears from the Fleet website that they added Sync, a power liftgate, tire pressure monitor (which I assumed it already had) and a Limited model. Good news so far. No mention of cooled front seats which someone brought up earlier. Also, it's not clear on the website if the Rear Seat DVD Entertainment System is dual headrest or not but that's what I'm hoping for. It's also be nice if the RSS was hidden now like on the Expedition. Any idea on that one? They dropped the Light Sage, Pewter, Carbon, and Dark Amethyst. Added the Light Ice Blue, Dark Ink Blue, White Sand Tri-Coat, and Vapor Silver. Wow that's the most change in paint colors I think I ever witnessed with Ford. I agree with the color changes. I won't miss any of the 4 that are going away although I'm not really sure how different the Vapor Silver would be from the Pewter. For me the chrome accents (especially the grill) just doesn't pop when you have a silver vehicle. I'm already starting to imagine myself in a Dark Ink Blue Limited with Charcoal interior.
  9. Ford will be installing a parachute and an anchor to properly address the panic stop braking issue. Seriously, I have to agree with Jorich919, Ford needs to address this. I've moved on to other things in the meantime assuming they are likely addressing the issue for 2008. I already passed on the 2007 Edge due to the brake issue even though the earlybird lease turn-in program would let me out of my 2005 Fird Five Hundred right now. I was all set to do it too but the brakes were a deal breaker for me. My wife's 2006 Explorer stops in 125 and weighs 458 lbs more than an Edge so don't quote me stats on other CUVs that take 140 plus feet cause that's no excuse. The Edge should be able to easily obtain 120's from 60-0 given it's weight and anything less with today's technology is simply unacceptable. I'm like a 8 time Ford owner. I have deep customer loyalty but safety is the one issue that will turn me away. One improvement I think Ford is doing about the brakes is switching to better tires. But that should probably be only 1 of a 3 or 4 pronged approach to improving them in my opinion. The brakes is this vehicles only real weakness. It would be a colossal and I mean COLOSSAL mistake for Ford to sit back and do nothing on this issue. I'll state openly right now that if Ford can't at least get this to stop in less than 130 ft from 60-0 than I'm buying something else and probably not a Ford. Maybe a Nissan Murano or Mazda CX-9 although I have't done the research yet. Yes I know they cost more but that's how strongly I feel. I rather they jack up the price of the Edge by $1000 for the '08 model and give it best in class brakes. Look at this and tell me you don't have concerns. The Edge quite possibly has the worst braking in recent history of all CUV's and SUV's alike. Can we once and for all drop the premise now that the Edge has braking similar to all it's competition? 10. So here is the Mazda CX-9 in Stormy Blue Mica
  11. Nissan has a color called Midnight Blue. Is it darker than this? And here the same color on a Nissan Xterra. It's amazing how different the same color can look look under different settings. The Murano is obviously a photo by Nissan Marketing on a sunny day. The Xterra by a car dealer's pic on a rainy day. Nissan also has a Majestic Blue shown here on the Altima. I like it but it really only looks a tad bit darker than Ford's Dark Blue Pearl Clearcoat Metallic. It all depends on the amount of like as you can see in the 3rd altima pic. It looks nearly black in in the shade.
  12. Here is the Dark Blue Pearl Clearcoat Metallic Although I'm excited about a darker color than this for the Edge, I'm not so sure I would like a blue so dark it appears almost black on all but sunny days. Is this a good representation of the light blue you mentioned?
  13. Will that Blue be darker than the Dark Blue Pearl Clearcoat Metallic that Ford currently uses? Will it be available on the Edge or are you implying the MKX gets the dark blue? I'm guessing the revised spring and strut rates might be enacted to improved braking. Are there any other braking related improvements confirmed? Things I'd really like to see are Hidden RSS, Homelink, Limited Model.
  14. Any more news on expected changes for the '08 model? Do we confirmation on Headrest DVD Entertainment System. I'd much prefer that. Plus any word on improvements to the braking system? That alone is making me hold off on the '07 model. Not to mention I'm not jumping up and down about any of the current paint colors.
