Please don't associate us or the Edge with those hoopty cars driving around with entirely too large of a wheel installed on a POS car. This is a factory rim. Sure it looks nice but it also will provide a firmer ride with tighter handling and cornering. Maybe even better 60-0 braking since the front end will dive less during emergency braking. So it's not just about the looks alone. I happen to prefer the style of the spokes on the 20" rims over the 18" rims. I don't classify these as "bling bling pimp my ride" rims like the 22" and 24" that some others have installed. Plus the Pirelli tires used still have a decent amount of sidewall. Unlike the baloney skin tires I've seen on some pimp-mobiles, gangster cars, and rice-burners.

A sport-tuned suspension limits body roll during cornering. Probably accomplished thru with a bigger rear stabilizer bar, stiffer springs and dampened struts and shocks.

I have been informed that the 20's come with a sport tuned suspension to match. RayoVac had no complaints about the ride and even noted it felt firmer than his wife's 2007 Edge. You will still be able to make changes to your order up to 10 days before the build date. You can get the build date from you salesman maybe a week or so after you place your order. If you were to place your order on Oct 28th. Expect a build date of about Nov 19th. So you could still change the rims if you wanted once more reviews come in up until approximately Nov 9th. I should have mine by Nov 1st and will give a thorough review. By the way, mine gets built tomorrow on Oct 8th. :-)

The tray the sits atop the dash just above the NAV screen. It's more or less sqaure in shape with the side closest to the windshield being curved or convex.

Hey RayoVac, can you provide some clarification on the color of the dash tray? Is it silver like it was on the 2007 or does it match the charcoal black dash? Also, I'd love to see a picture of those Pirellis tread pattern up close.

Oh and I forgot to ask if you got any rebates and if so how much?

Darn, that dreaded handle. I for one am not a fan of the liftgate handle. I think it interrupts the smooth appearance of the rear end. Besides I thought the liftgate was twice as easy to open and close than on my wife's '06 Explorer. I got the power lift hatch so I don't really need the handle anyway. Sad to see the head rests didn't get changed. I'll either be replacing those or putting them in my bench clamp and bending those posts back about 10 degrees. Trust me, it can be done. I ordered the Silver too but I didn't opted for the roof rails. Knowing I'd never tie anything down to the roof I fiigured they'd just add to the wind resistance. OMG do those 20" wheels add some bling factor. Please be sure to post some comparision pics of before and after tinting. I'm assuming you'll be tinting the front side windows right? Please indicate if you go with the 20% or 30% film. I'm thinking 20% will match best.

On the 20% tint, did they give you a choice between carbon and titanium?

Does your tint have titanium in it for better heat reduction?

Good Hands, are you saying you had tint put over the already factory tinted glass? I was quoted $50 for the front 2 windows. Legal is 30% and it comes in Titanium and Carbon. The installer said Carbon would be a better color match to the rear windows but the Titanium is better at keeping out heat. I'm thinking of going 20% however cause it will match the rear better in regards to shade. It's not legal but I think they will still install it but just won't warranty it. I wish they made a 25%.

I still don't see that the Ford website has been updated to include the 2008 Edge or it's incentives. The 4th quarter incentives on the 2007 Edge total $2000 for purchase and $1500 for lease. I'd like to see at least $1000 on the 2008 Edge.

It's been reported that the 20" Wheels will come with Pirellis.

What do you mean my wishing the steering wheel tilted more? You mean tilted down or up? How was the lower lumbar support? I found it lacking it a bit in my 1 day test drive.

Now that we're in October I'm expecting to see the Edge 2008 and whatever incentives it will carry appear on the Ford website any day. It would be nice to get at least a $500 on the RCL. By the way, my '08 Edge is due to be bulit in just 6 more days.

My dealer requested a $500 check but they are not cashing it until I actually take delivery. It kind of a good faith gesture.

They key word here is "Dealer" installed, not Factory installed. What exactly are they installing and for how much?

What about the 2008 Edge Ordering Guide. That's been available to Sales and the public for the last month. If he isn't resourceful enough to locate the guide then he doesn't deserve your business in my opinion. The 2008 has been in production for nearly 2 weeks now. I'm sure he's just acting dumb cause he'd much rather sell you something on the lot now. He's either faking or incompentent. Neither is acceptable.

What is the 3D Carbon kit? Do you have links and/or pictures?

So do we know yet what tire brand Ford is putting on the Edge with the 18" wheels? Will the 18"'s on the Limited receive a different brand than the 18"'s on the SEL?

I'm not convinced any added weight of the 20's over the 18's would result in anything significant enough to be realized in MPG. For all I know Ford could use aluminium rims under the chrome clad on the 20's and steel wheels under the chrome clad on the 18's. The weight could end up being the same or less.

How do 18" wheels cause you to get better MPG over the 20" wheels? You should be able to expect delivery about 8 weeks from the time you place an order. Why not order now and get it in Nov. :-)

Well I got my build date today, 10-8-07. The sales guy estimate it should be on the dealer lot 2 weeks later.

Voice navigation is not available on the 2007 model, just the 2008 model.

So the folks in the OAC start building the new 2008's starting today. Let's follow along with any news on production issues, new options, photos, etc. I for one have an '08 on order so I'm very interested.
