  1. I copied the Trailer package info from the Frod Edge specs PDF found on the Ford Edge site. You need to dig a bit on the Ford Edge site to fidn the relevant info instead of jsut clicking a link with a list of package options. Class II Trailer Tow Package includes hitch receiver, larger radiator, upgraded cooling fans, wiring harness with 4-pin connector and trailer sway control (3,500 lbs. max.)
  2. I ordered my Edge Limited Oct 21 and it's scheduled for delivery next week. Yes, I've read all the comments re: MFT issues, but I still eagerly await the car's arrival. Also, Ford will resolve the problems. I do software support and write diagnostic programsd and utilities and know full well the problems facing developers.
  3. I may need to spring for the Ford mats until Weathertech begins selling theirs. I'll add some plastic tarps around the mats to protect the floors. I spend time kayaking and always find ways to track sand into a car. Good mats help keep the carpet clean.
  4. Thanks, Wilson. I see the mats cover a bit more of the carpet than I saw in other photos, but in New England we can get a lot of snow. I prefer deep wells and covers on the sides of the mats to collect melting snow. Hoping WeatherTech begins selling their mats soon.
  5. Congrats! I sent a request to WeatherTech last week and I know a couple of others posters on the forum called WeatherTech. I've owned a lot of WeatherTech items over the years and they're light years ahead of everyone else.
  6. Thanks Wilson. How far up the left foot rest do the Ford mats go? In my Volvo I covered the foot rest with a cheap rubber mat. Also, installed a hard plastic tray then a soft rubber so called deep well floor mat to catch melting snow. The top rubber matt uses two hooks so the mat won't slide up under the accelerator. I too like the softer rubber mats, but looking at the hard plastic mats to cover from the door sill to the foot area and problably add a soft rubber mat for comfort. Unfortunately, I've never found a perfect floor mat; they're all a compromise.
  7. Ok, here's my washing routine which some of you may remind of "nails on the chaulk board" I live in a condo and must wash my car at a car wash. I use a single bucket and microfiber sponge. I dry the car with a chamois and microfiber towels. I use both Meguiars and Turtle Wax Ice. Cars look pretty good. My worst problems because I park the car in a lot, water spots from sprinklers. Ok, done dragging my fingers nails across the chaulk board.
  8. Thanks, but I found a photo somewhere online and realized the front mats wouldn't cover enough of the foot wells. I'll wait for the WeatherTechs.
  9. A great point which I've thought about for awhile. I plan on using some of the invisible bra plastic material under the Thule feet. The stuff's very durable. I picked up a roll of similar plastic material at PepBoys called BodyGuard. Also, I have a few left over pieces from another vendor, I used the material on behind the cockpit on touring kayak to prevent paddle scratches from entering and exiting the boat. Also, adding a piece over the wing over the tailgate window. I rest the bow of the kayak on a carpet placed on the roof when loading and umloading, but sometimes the wind grabs the carpet at the wrong moment. The invisible bra material's a durable scratch preventor.
  10. Ok, you young guys, here's a few more. Many of us grew up without color TV, but instead, just a single B&W for the entire house. I always watched the Winzard of Oz in B&W. Phones, remember dial phones? Yup, no touch tone phones. Also, you rented your phone from the phone company. Where's Lilly Tomlin and her skit about the phone company?
  11. Found a link - http://media.ford.com/article_display.cfm?article_id=33366 which introduces the SDK and embedded in the web page, https://secure.syncmyride.com/Own/Modules/Developer/Subscribe.aspx
  12. Nope, found plastic scrapers with burrs on their blades. I had a metal edged one which worked great, it broke. Ordered an Edge Limited with remote which will definitely help. However, when thick ice covers the windshield................... Also, used RainX for years, but never noticed the ice came off any easier. I use De-Icers which help some. Movng to warmer climates; I'm not a hot weather fan!
  13. I'm turning in a Volvo XC70 once on '11 Limited arrives, but want to keep from scratching the glass when scraping off ice. I managed not to scratch the Volvo's windows, but other cars, saw the micro scratches in the glass. How can we prevent the scratching? Anyway to polish out the fine scratches in the Spring? I've used the Prestone Anti-Ice to melt ice, but looking for alternatives. Plastic scrapers seem to have burrs on the blade's edge and I've filed down the burrs, but looking for some advice. Thanks
  14. Here's a link with photos instead of me trying to describe how the Q Towers attach - http://www.fordedgeforum.com/index.php?/topic/1890-yakima-q-towers-and-bamr/page__st__20__p__41248__hl__%2Broof+%2Brack__fromsearch__1#entry41248 I'm purchasing Thule feet. I already have a set of Thule bars, etc from carrying kayaks on other cars.
  15. Good luck, hope you get the car you want
  16. Wilson, Please post some photos of the floor mats in the car. I've lloked for photos, but only find images of the mats. Thanks
  17. In my Volvo I attached a rubber mat with velcro to the dead pedal so the area stayed clean. I purchased the Volvo all weather mats because I couldn't purchase the WeatherTechs I wanted. I too found water from snow went down the out area surrounding the floor tab. I thought if I buy the WeatherTechs for my Edge on order I'll just add some caulking around the hole. I BTW, just checked the Husky line siner, 2011 Ford Edge now appears under their list of vehicles.
  18. Duh, I missed his point too! I reread the entry and couple of times and still misinterpreted it.
  19. I see the same behavior on my Volvo and I believe it's normal. Fuel consumption values jump based upon road conditions, etc.
  20. Just read a greeat article on AutoGeek describing methods to remove water spots on glass, etc. They mentioned DP High Performance Glass Restorer. I've never used the product, but sounds promising. I live in a condo and sprinklers leave water spots on my glass so I may try their ideas next year if needed.
  21. Awesome! I ordered Kona Blue, black interior Limited, loaded Friday.
  22. I've owned three sets of Weathertech's window deflectors on various cars and definitely agree they're a quality product. Check out the installation video under Weathertech's Customer Service link.
  23. Hi, I'm looking for some info on the nav system used in the 2011 Edge. The Edge is at the top of my purchase list. I know you can download routes created on MapQuest or Google, but can you store the downloads for future use? When driving, how do you locate a destination? For instance, if you're driving towards a state park, but no street address exists for the park how do you locate it? I'm just trying to compare the nav feature vs GPS devices. Any good write-ups you've found on the web? So far, I've only found overview info including a Youtube video by Ford. Thanks
  24. Do some searches for car Invisible Bra or Clear Bra. When I picked up my '07 Volvo I paid for the dealer to install one. I've spotted a small bubble in the plastic, but sure protected the car's hood, etc. I recommend you let someone install the product because it's difficult to work with and fit. Also, pricey, but worth it. I'm looking at '11 Edge Limited so I'll probably go with a plastic bug guard.
