  1. Yup, a lot of cars now feature the new turn signals for lane changes. Just tapp and the blinker blinks three times for a lane change, but since we both live in Mass, probably a wasted option. Why signal your intent to change lanes. All kidding aside, I do use the feature and broadcast my intent to others. Rain sensing wipers seem to work differently from the rain sense feature on my departed Vovlvo. The Volvo, I pushed the button and the wipers only wiped when a set amount of mositure gathered on the windshield. The wipers changed speed based upon the water hitting the windshiled. The Edge, I've moved the wiper to the first position and it's varied it's time for a wipe. I think you're right, once we finally see some rain we'll see the wipers work differently.
  2. I live north of Boston near the NH border. Like drevv, we've received a lot of snow. I find the car's a tank in the snow.
  3. My screens speed along most of the time, but every once in awhile the system gets crabby and takes it's time. Sometimes when I push the command button, takes the system time to respond. I think she's waiting for a bribery gift from Jareds. I sure wish we had a task manager so we could find out process is consuming resources.
  4. I'm hoping in the future we can add our own custom POIS, but never researched. One of these days I'll post a comment on Sync site.
  5. I've experienced the shaking on a couple of different cars. Snow packs up in the wheels. You need to remember to clear off the snow from the sides of the car, wheel wells and and wheel openings. Yup, a pain, but no way around it unless we live in places without snow
  6. Received an answer back fro Thule CS - "Yes, we do have a fit for this vehicle. You will need the 480 Traverse foot pack, fit kit# 1530, and the LB58 load bars. And yes...this does include the models with the vista roof."
  7. I just checked the Thule fit guide on their site; no mention of a 2011 Edge. However, Yakima shows a fit guide for the 2011 and the components match a 2010. So, from Yakima's point of view same roof. You may want to contact Thule and put a bug in their ear. I need to order racks in a couple of months to transport my kayaks. I too have a BAMR roof. I originally wanted a 2007 Edge when they first came out, but both rack manufacturers took several months to release a rack system for the BAMR roof. I instead drove a Vovlo for few years just to transport my boats. I like a glass roof so I can check on my boats; great way to see if they shifted or disappeared. What do you plan on transporting? You may want to contact Thule and put a bug in their ear. I'm sending them an email and asking. Hopefully, between the two us Thule will release a rack. I own a lot of their equipment.
  8. Yup, I've done the same by touching the circle, etc. I thnik as we use the systems more we'll find shortcuts, etc to performing undocumented functions and probably start a thread documenting the features.
  9. Writing user interfaces or GUIs always prove challenging. You';; find some users like the screens and others hate it. I've seen a lot of high end cars with buttons all over the place and I wonder what CR thinks? I only agreed upon CR's comments re: the close head rests. I'm now used to them, but experienced a lot of initial neck pain until I found my sweet spot. The more I use MFT the more I play games to torment it. You need to experiment and find shortcuts to the various voice commands. Also, I rarely touch the screen anymore. I truly don't think CR gave the car the necessary time.
  10. Glad to see everyone got out OK
  11. Please see the dsicussion here - http://www.fordedgeforum.com/index.php?/topic/6445-upgrading-to-full-navigation/
  12. I picked my Edge up December 15 and the car's exterior's never clean. I've gone through six snow storms plsu a rain/ice one. The snow banks at my condo's parking lot behind my car tower over ten feet. I'm having a ball building snowbanks by shovel. Weather guy's say another storm's headed in Tuesday night I want to wash my car so it stays clean for ten minutes. BTW, I love driving in the snow and tormenting Camrys. Aslo, great heating system in the car. Oh yeah, I like staring at weather maps with radar when I'm sitting in a parking lot. See, too much of the white stuff drives you crazy :kuko:
  13. Yup, I've seen it and I'll live with it. I beleive it's a minor software bug, but no idead how to submit a bug report to Ford wihtout heading to the dealer.
  14. I'm jealous, a nice, clean, detailed car. I'll trade you some snow, road grime etc.
  15. Wait until you hit the panic button a couple of times. I know, I've done it by accident.
  16. I too noticed the differences in temps when outside temps fell below zero Saturday. Driver's console said -5 and 8 inch console showed -4. Minor software bug unless they used two different sensors which I doubt.
  17. I came from a Volvo so naturally checked out a Volvo XC60. I found the Edge a better value and I do see a lot of Volvo's features in the Edge. Also, looked at an Audi Q5, but walked away because I didn't like its size; just too small.
  18. Fantastic, another Kona Blue. Yes, great color! You'll see the brushed aluminum door sills when you enter the car on the LTD. They say Edge. I suspect the SEL's just used plastic or a painted surface. The brushed aluminiun dresses up the door sills a bit and helps protect the surface.
  19. Just for grins, I checked mine finding - Sync Version 2.4 Confirmed installations BT4T-14D546-AG BT4T-14F496-AG BT4T-14F497-AG SYNC compatible software BT4T-14F603-AG I picked up my car three weeks
  20. Hoping sometime in te future an upgrade provides options to load our own POIs
  21. I live in Lowell. We got 15 inches. I went to work at 5:15 AM and made some of my tracks on the road. Snow plows tried to keep up, but failed. Snow fell at 2 -3 inches per hour. Car slide a bit a couple of times, but mostly acted like a tank. Have fun driving in the snow.
  22. Ah, snow! Weather guys forecasting 12 - 18 inches of the fine white power to fall after midnight. I'm heading to work around 5 AM and plan on playing. I've already driven my tank in the snow from a previous storrm and its great.
  23. I've encountered the system maintenance message twice in the past three weeks. IMO, I don't believe they're doing actual maintence, but the message appears during the reboot cycle and indicates the system's terminating processes and clearing memeory for a fresh start. I believe in both my cases I caused a reboot while in the nav screens and kept pushing buttons If I'm correct about the maint message probably not the best phrase to display.
  24. I've owned several Garmins and I do like the nav system in the Edge. The mappings fairly accurate around where I live, but when I head to Maine I've fouind a few inaccuraciesin nav mapsf. I know where I'm going so I can find my way around. Here's some details on the nav compared to Garmin - Garmin shows a turn by turn list of directions. The Edge's nav "seems" to hide the same info in a View menu, but still not convinced. The Edge nav shows POI for every exit along your route when you choose a View. Actually, very useful! Both Garmin and Edge nav do text to voice turn instructions. However, the Edge seems to do turns a bit differently. The system alerts you to a turn in x miles plus the street name. However, just when you turn you'll hear a tone. I fidn it a useful feature. The Edge nav shows a progress monitor when you're approaching your turn or destination; great feature. Map screen on the Edge you can choose different zoom settings by selecting an icon for .50, .25, etc. I love the feature; so mcuh better than my Garmin where I need to keep hit the plus or minus to zoom. When you approach a turn or exit ramp on your route the Edge's nav screen splits showing the map on the left and the actual exit on the right . You'll see the actual turns in the blow up. POIs - hard to find on the Edge. If I remember correctly, on the map push the menu biutton or whatever; just don't remember at the moment. However, the map show a mx of three different POIs chosen from a the options list. No way to add custom POIs. I do hope Ford adds the feature in the future. I know we can download customized POIs for the Garmin from POI Factory and other sites. Ok, I'm done. I know I forgot a few things, but I'm getting carried away.
  25. I read just a bit on the new app, but thought, I wonder what or when we'll see some cool stuff for our cars?
