  1. hmm you're not getting it - seems like some posters feel the need to mention the color of their vehicle when describing a problem with their car. red and black seem to be posted most
  2. it's too bad you're passing on a great deal like the mkx because of the radio service! the sirius radio channel selections are better as long as you don't get a red or black mkx ...
  3. it's a smokin' deal if it's alloy/carbon! course it depends if it's fwd or awd, and options, what's this edge got? be sure you can live without the bamr, sirius, nav or dvd before you sign.
  4. Having purchased in August 07 doesn't sound like an early production vehicle. Have a look at the plate on the driver's door pillar and it will tell you what month/year it was built. If you do find others with similar problems, check their build date. it would be interesting if they were built during the same period. A little more ammo for you ...
  5. i hate to see a fellow edge member in such a tizzy, so i can offer the following quick fixes - item 1 - drive in reverse item 2 - drive in reverse just keep in mind you may not to drive this way on even and odd numbered days
  6. we had seen our edge at a local dealer here in vic. since i had dealt with coastal in the past i asked them to put a deal together. long story short - we got it cheaper than the dealer here offered, plus they paid for the ferry and cab expenses! we first seen it on the lot march/07, the build date is nov/07. it has the bamr, nav and sirius, and that was all we needed. it's a ton of fun to drive - just turned 10k, and no problems. i posted earlier about a road trip through Washington state and the edge was great. it still gets lots of attention, i let everybody who asks know what a cool ride it is hope you get yours soon and enjoy it just as much!
  7. Hi rick have you been following the threads regarding the various a/z, d x plans? check the x plan pin request. you might be able to get a great deal going that route. Also http://www.fordedgeforum.com/index.php?sho...ic=844&st=0
  8. welcome fuelcell! you might have found this post already, but just in case - [/url] Which dealer did you order your edge from? colour and options? i picked mine up at Coastal in Burnaby. happy belated birthday!
  9. Europe, eh? no wonder i can't pronounce your user name! j/k (and a bad one too) Good Hands - good catch on the Wednesday - Monday thing. keep up the good work!
  10. hey, either you're up really late, or your a west coaster? i have another question - when you got the new tires, how much did the tread width increase? Ford advertises the Edge as a sporty crossover, i suppose compared to others in its class. But you're right about the handling. it feels a little top heavy when taking a brisk corner. We had brief little issue with a transmission clunk upshifting slowly from a dead stop, but it was only for a couple days and hasn't occurred again. Other than that, our Edge has been absolutely great.
  11. + 1 ! I checked out your gallery ... how much did the springs lower your edge? (apologies if the question has been asked before).
  12. Welcome to the club! Definitely agree the Edge is a step up from the Liberty. Tell us more - colour, options ...
  13. yup, i can see the family resemblance! j/k hehe
  14. ok, ok ... i figured if i said 'buy canadian' you wouldn't know where i was buying my cars ... and the spookiest hallowe'en to all!
  15. hello and welcome to the Ford family. i have believed in 'buying american' since i got my driver's licence. hope you enjoy your edge as much as we do.
  16. try this link - i think it will help you ... don't forget to match the overall diameter of the 18" wheel and tire if you change to 17" rims. http://www.mustangforums.com/m_2219956/tm.htm good luck
  17. ahh, another ford fan ... welcome so what colours/options for the Edge?
  18. Welcome to the forum! It's been a great place to read and share others' experiences with the Edge. Hope you have an enjoyable and trouble free ride. We also had an Escape, an '05. We had a peek at the '08 Escape, but it looks like a mini Explorer. The Edge has been a lot of fun, and we are totally happy with it.
  19. yup, sometimes these things require a little advance planning ... I did a little shopping on my own after work when the Edge first started showing up at the dealers. I really liked the alloy (carbon) SEL, so I grabbed the wife one weekend and went to one of the dealers. There the choices were alloy with BAMR and nav, and alloy with roof racks and no nav. Guess which one we got ...
  20. here's what i've experienced - i posted earlier about a road trip over the rockies and back to the west coast - and the Edge was flawless. up or downshifting was pretty seamless with the 6 speed auto. I tend to think rentals get abused somewhat, so there's no real way to test the performance unless you take a new one for a drive. The rental may also have been an early production unit, which does suffer some growing pains. Later units cleared up problems like windshield glare. Our edge is an sel fwd, alloy (built 11/06) with charcoal interior. the dash is trimmed with brushed aluminum. Driving anytime of the day doesn't create any glare. gotta get the BAMR, that's what sold us! we really didn't needthe nav system but the unit we picked came equipped with it. You seem to be shopping across a wide range of cuv's. bear in mind the bmw and inifiniti are high end models and should perform better. the murano is 5 years old and needs a do-over. for the price, package and styling, i think the edge is the right choice. we looked at acadia and outlook, and they just didn't click. one last thing, i'm a firm believer in made in america (and canada). let's keep our guys working. let us know where you are, and what your choice is. doug
  21. hello penn! there's tons of interesting info and lots of edge fans here. now, if we can find a way of trading that 300c on a ford ...
  22. Bolt pattern on Mustang/Fusion/Escape/Edge is 5 x 114, so wheels are interchangeable. Two things to watch for - overall wheel/tire diameter - if you have 18" wheels you'll need lower profile tires to ensure your wheel rotation remains the same. the Edge tire pressure monitoring system may not function if Fusion wheels are not equipped with it. PS - I have a set of 2005/07 V-6 Mustang alloy wheels for sale!
  23. We recently went on a road trip across Washington state and drove 12 hours straight thru both east and back west with stops for gas and snacks. The new 3.5 l V-6 ran flawlessly through the Rockies and down the Washington Interstate. We had 2200 miles on the clock, and total distance travelled was 1800 miles round trip. The speed limit on I-90 is 70, so I averaged about 75 mph from the Snoqualmie Pass to Couer d'alene. The engine was still a bit tight, but we got 28 mpg. The six speed automatic was almost seamless thru upshifting and downshifting. It took a bit of time to adjust to the fact that a larger heavier vehicle takes a little more effort in braking! The new V-6 is a big improvement over the Escape we had in '05. The new engine and body styling sealed the deal for us. Merging into traffic is almost as fun as our Mustang! It is advertised as a sporty crossover, but we find it a tad high centred and soft for highway cornering. The leather seats are flat and firm, but need to be more bucket shaped like the Mustang. Other Edge owners have complained about the dashboard glare on the windshield. During our road trip, driving both east and west during daylight to night time hours, we did not experience anything to complain about. (Build date is 11/06) The rear liftgate is a tad heavy to get started opening, and I see that Ford will offer an automatic assist for 2008. The only other wish is one piece chrome wheels with fatter tires. We are very happy with our Edge, and enjoy it everyday. We always get asked 'what's the Edge like?'. I tell them it's a very cool ride, and they should test drive one next chance they get.
  24. Hi Andrew - nice to meet you. I had the stripes put on at a local trim shop I go to. It was $250. They had done hood-deck, and door stripes for my GT. I since seen an Acura MDX with a similar stripe job, a bit like the new Mustang side stripe spacing. Send some pics if you get stripes on yours. By the way, what happened to your Jetta? Doug
  25. Hey, how come Dillon gets to ride in the Mustang and Max is hoofing it? No wonder he's eyeballing us! What do you have for a Mustang?
