And don't forget the 2015 Edge was originally supposed to be on sale last fall and was delayed. If it's important to you - wait for the 2016. Atom Posted March 14, 2015 Report Share Posted March 14, 2015 I got to sit in a 2015 Ford Edge yesterday. It was a preproduction model, being shown by a Ford Training and Product Specialist. I could have gotten the "Training" and "Product" reversed. He said that the Sync 3 is all new hardware. The way he was describing it, with his hands, it will be much longer, vertically, than the current MFT LCD screen. Due to the hardware difference, he does not believe that the MFT can be software upgraded to Sync3. He downplayed the Sync 3 by saying if I am going to waiting for the latest new techonology, I will always be waiting for something else. cab2g Posted March 16, 2015 Report Share Posted March 16, 2015 I know salespeople will say anything to get a sale, but the same guy who made the 20 minute video describing all the new and interesting features of the 2015 Edge (which was also 100% accurate) posted a video on Sync 3: The interesting part is that he says the 2015 Edge will be upgradable to Sync 3 without a HW change. I know this contradicts what Ford said. However, it makes sense that they wouldn't design unique hardware for the 2015 model year only. akirby Posted March 16, 2015 Report Share Posted March 16, 2015 It's possible the 2015 Edge gets the new hardware with MFT but it's more likely they'll simply swap in the sync 3 hardware with sync 3 when it's ready since the hardware is interchangeable. Otherwise you've just created a third hw/sw combination that must be tested and supported at least for some interim period.
