girinula
Hi Guys I have a 2011 edge sport. I kind of feel the brake had some issues because it felt spongy and very soft so I recently took my car to the dealership and had a brake booster replaced under warranty. Right now the brake feels normal. However, the new booster still won't hold vacuum for very long. It seems to lose vacuum slowly overtime. If i drive it to work and park it for 8 hours, the pedal is still soft after work. But If i park it in my garage for like a day, the brake is hard when i try to start up the car. I also have a Honda accord, I can park it in my garage for 1 week and the brake pedal is still soft when i step on it. I'm just wondering are you guys all experiencing the same or this is just me? Under normal circumstances, how long should the brake booster hold its vacuum? Edited May 4, 2015 by girinula

girinula
That sounds normal for my 2011 mix. So your pedal is hard in the morning after parking it for a day? Edited May 4, 2015 by girinula
enigma-2
I had my booster replaced under (extended) warranty this week. Pedal was spongy and I had to pump the pedal before. Now it's firmer and I don't see it loosing vacuum after setting. You may still have a leak in a connection or hose somewhere. Honda is known for a"soft" pedal. Of the Honda's I've owned I always hated the brakes.

If park it overnight i still have a soft pedal in the morning. But if I leave it for more than a day then the vacuum is completely gone - a rock hard pedal. However, my pedal during driving feels great, very firm and responsive. It bugs me a lot as my accord was parked in the garage all week long and i went to start the car, the vacuum is still there. I don't know if it is a ford thing or i have a leaking hose on my edge sport.
tamugrad2013
I have tried to get it to a dealer here in Odessa during the 2nd week of June and they gave me the run around about how they can't set an appointment even three weeks out (which I think is total bs) This is three different dealerships. I called a dealer in College Station, TX and they said that they would look at it on the 27th of July after I move down there for work and would have it diagnosed in one day, and if it will take longer I will have a rental covered under my premium care warranty that same day. At least it sounds like I am moving to an area with a great dealership. Also thank you for the replies. The service department in College Station said he thought it was the brake booster after giving the symptoms I was having. He also said that it was BS that the three local dealerships here wouldn't take an appointment and would take 5-7 days just to look at it.
