Playlist Order - HELP!! - 2015 Edge

Recommended Posts

My ipod classic 160 thats full of my music has died. With those no longer being manufactured i am trying to find an alternative.

I see that i can create playlists on USB drives but the problem is the order is lost from Itunes. It simply puts them in Alpha order. NOT good.

Is there a trick or tweak to stop it from going in Alpha order and follow the order i created in Itunes?

Here are my steps:
1. Create Playlist IN iTunes
2. Add Songs to playlist
3. Insert USB drive
4. Create a folder fof playlist
5. Copy all songs from playlist to USB folder

Now, when i follow these steps the order ON the USB drive is the same as the order in itunes. When i plug the USB drive into the Edge it sees them in alpha order.

Any help, advice or info on this is greatly appreciated.

I'll have to play with it and see how it works - I just created a new playlist the other day for some new music. It seems like if I have shuffle turned off and I use voice control to "play playlist new" that it plays in the listed order and not alphabetically.

Enigma,

Thanks but Classics are wonky with WIn 10 as there are NO software updates for it as its EOL.

As for the steps outlined. Not senseible.

I will fill a 100 gig ipod easy. My play lists are 200-300 songs big and i often change the order. No way i am gonna rename all those songs with a 01-digit infront of them.

Thanks for the heads up on the link!

Yea, it would indeed be a super pita to rework all those song headers, but I don't think there's any other way. The system is set up to sort the headers in alphabetical order.

One other thought, if you were to go back and wipe the headers (time consuming as well), the system will read the playlist titles and play those in alphabetical order.
