richzx14
Looking at a 2016 Sport with 401A, Pano-Roof, and 21" wheels. MSRP $47,035. Build date June 2016. Original buyer bought it out of state and had it shipped to him as he wanted Kona Blue. 205 total miles - still has window sticker attached, and has been in his garage. He bought it on Black Friday so only one month old and 35 months of warranty remaining. I have printed window sticker with details. He had job issues and must sell. He has clear title and we have agreed on $37,300 - which is $9,735 off MSRP - but with no sales tax as my state (Nevada) exempts sales tax on private party sales. $37,300 * 8.15% tax would be $3,039.95. VIN = 2FMPK4AP0GBB94044 if that is helpful. I put about 10-15 miles on during test drive and it drives beautiful and that 2.7 TT is awesome!. I have a leased 2014 SEL I will be returning, so quite an upgrade. I think this is a pretty good deal but would appreciate comments/feedback. TIA
pinyin
sounds like a good deal if there is no damage or anything wrong with the vehicle. definitely run a carfax report on the VIN.
richzx14
Forgot too mention - have CARFAX - no accident/ no damage. Also did a close walk around inspection. 1 service history record performed at 2 miles at selling dealer. Pre-delivery inspection completedWashed/detailedEmissions or safety inspection performed
RC Mike
I got a new one for almost exactly that price. 20" wheels, cold weather package. Those are the only differences. I mention that because you're paying for his depreciation. Yes, there's no sales tax, but it's not a new vehicle from a dealer. There's no reason to treat it as though it is. It'll always show as having been sold within months of its initial sale, and that affects the value. Personally, I wouldn't pay a new price for a used vehicle. You've already agreed to the price, though.
enigma-2
Don't know about the sales tax in the state where you're located, but here in Indiana you pay the 7% sales tax when you go to register the car. Think this is true in every state so you may wish to call your local DMV and check. The devil his due.
richzx14
From Nevada DMV website Sales Taxes Sales taxes are not collected on private party vehicle sales that occurred on or after January 1, 2006. http://dmvnv.com/regprivate.htm
All Hat No Cattle
I live here also. Just make sure that the title you get is in the name of the current owner, and that he is the one actually transferring title to you. There should be no dealer's name anywhere on the title. richzx14
Thanks - yes I have the signed off title and there is no dealers name (as this a private party purchase) and no lien holder. I picked it up last night and it drives awesome! Got it for $36,875. No sales tax.
All Hat No Cattle
With a $47035 sticker price, and a $36,875 Total Price, you got a very, very good deal. I am jealous. And don't forget about not paying the $499 Doc Fee that all 4 Ford dealers here charge. I will be looking out for a Kona Blue Sport.
richzx14
Thanks All Hat.. The technology on this thing is very considerable, I am an IT guy and the tech is impressive. Thanks for reminding about the dealer doc fees. Yeah - I hate those dealer doc fees so much - my last two vehicles I either flew one-way (had airfare company business ticket voucher so not out of pocket) to Los Angeles and drove it back or drove with a friend where we both bought the same car ($599 doc fee each) and drove them back. Some dealers (not all) charge up to $799 doc fee, mainly on the higher end vehicles. Very pleased so far.
All Hat No Cattle
Yeah, that Doc Fee is essentially pure profit. They should just call it the Extra Profit Fee If you want to hear some double-talk, ask the dealer exactly what you get for that $499. And compare that to what you got from your private seller, without the Doc Fee. Nothing. Now if my 2017 Titanium, ordered Nov. 4, ever shows up I'll be happy. richzx14
I initially was looking at the Titanium but somehow I switched over to the Sport. Nov. 4 is quite a while ago - what is your order configuration/details? Send on a private message if your prefer, I would like to see what you ordered. Just out of curiosity - why did you order a 2017 vs take a 2016 already in inventory with more rebates/incentives?
All Hat No Cattle
I always order, because I have never been able to find the exact colors and configuration that I want in dealer stock, and I've tried. I gave the configuration below to Ford Country and Gaudin for a 2016, and they both did a 300 mile search and came up dry, both in stock or ordered by other dealers. The main holdup was the Driver's Package. Search all 4 dealers in town today and try to find a Drivers Package in an AWD Titanium, never mind the colors my wife chose. In November there was not a single 2016 Edge of any model with the DP in town. So I ordered. I wanted a 2016 F-150 loaded Platinum with RR paint and Brunello interior, and no moon roof, last January. So I ordered, took 8 weeks order to delivery. Why I am so fussy does not matter, LOL, I just don't compromise any more. BTW, of course the Titanium does have the Pano Roof, but it is for the wife and she loves it. richzx14
Yeah - I have had the same problem with finding exactly what I wanted. I found this Ford inventory search site which was helpful, for the future. Yeah - four Ford dealers in the Valley - I used 92656 and 100 miles search radius on the website below came back with 62 Ford dealers. http://content.dealerconnection.com/vfs/brands/us/nv/henderson_ford_en.html I would have liked to have the Driver's Package as well. The Ruby Red is beautiful, I would have liked that color very much for mine. The Platinum trim level is great, congrats on that acquisition. Have you been happy with it so far? I always wanted a pickup and got my first one at age 47 and since then I have had 8-10 pickups to date. Fords and Chevy's. Don't blame you on not compromising. Did you order from Ford Country or Gaudin? - happy with their customer service? Did you receive rebates/incentives as of Nov. 4 or when you actually take delivery? Have you been supplied a delivery date? The 2017's (All Models) have CarPlay and Android Auto. https://media.ford.com/content/fordmedia/fna/us/en/news/2016/07/25/ford-bolsters-availability-of-sync-3-plus-apple-carplay--android.html
All Hat No Cattle
The Platinum trim level is great, congrats on that acquisition. Have you been happy with it so far? Very happy. The wife has a 2007 Caddy SRX now, and I made the mistake of letting her drive the truck coming back from San Francisco. Now she wants all the tech stuff that the truck has in her Edge, Adaptive CC, BLIS, etc. She's not totally happy that the Edge won't have the massaging seats like the truck. So I tell her that sometimes, life is hard, LOL. Did you order from Ford Country or Gaudin? - happy with their customer service? The truck is from Ford Country, the Edge is ordered at Gaudin. Gaudin promised to lock in incentives on Nov. 4, and I have a final price. But a deal is not done until money changes hands, so who knows. At the worst, I have an X-Plan PIN, so that is my default price. I'm going to Gaudin tomorrow to cash in my $50 Ford gift card offer from the November Auto Show, and test drive a 2017 F-150 with the 10 speed tranny. Hope to have some more delivery info now that the holidays are over. We'll see. BTW, the dealers have an internal search engine from Ford that we can't access. They can even look up what dealers have on order. Edited January 2, 2017 by All Hat No Cattle
