Electrical Gremlins

Recommended Posts

Gremlins - not the kind made my American Motors in the 1970 and 80's mind you. My 2 week old Edge LTD without navi - has Sirius. Im driving to work this AM. Listening to the radio, etc. Changed from SAT to FM. When I was on the FM for a few minutes - the radio completely powers off. I didnt touch anything near the radio. I reached over and powered the unit on and everything was fine again. Anyone else have any of these gremlins to report? What's going on here?

OOhhh, you got a fun gremlin - sounds like a faulty head unit.

Mine has never done anything like that.

Sounds like warranty work if you can repeat it semi consistently.

Good luck

I also have Sirius without nav. The same thing has happened to me once. Last week I was listening to Sat and the radio just shut off with no one touching it. Turned it back on and it has been just fine. Just waiting to see if continues to happen before I say anything to Ford about it.

As a rule I dont believe in the supernatural but I just knew I wasn't imagining it!! Thanks for the confirmation. Anyone else have this issue?

this is an easy one.. this is the cars way of telling you "are you :censored: crazy? who wants to listen to :censored: FM radio when you can listen to SAT radio".. then it simply revolts on having to listen to crap FM and shuts down.

I hope this helps ;)

Were you stopped with the engine off? There is a 10 minute accessory delay - after that the radio will turn off by itself (regardless of what you're listening to). If the engine was running then I don't have an explanation.

No, I was driving at the time. That is why I am waiting to see if it becomes as issue before I do anything.
