Bobcajun
I just bought two pair of Infinity Kappa 682.11cf to put in my 2013 Edge SEL with the premium audio system (basic). So I read that I will need to process the signal coming from my speaker trought a DSP or LOC and pass it trought an amp and finally to my new speakers to really enjoy them. In addition maybe add later a powerred sub but for now just to have a good sounds from my speakers will be nice. So here's my options: Audiocontrol LC6i Audiocontrol LC7i JL Fix 86 Mosconi Gladen 4to6 DSP Helix DSP Kicker Fron Row So of course, when I was looking for feedback online all the comments that a read was very positives on these and after a while more poeple was complaining. For exemple: The JL Fix 86 and Mosconi Gladen 4to6 DSP will be the volume control of the radio because you needs to keep the factory HU volume to 4/3. For the Audiocontrol LC7i, the accubass was too punchy if you listen to rock/metal music, wich I listen all the time. The Audiocontrol LC6i should be fine but it will not correct the bass drop when volume is high. So with you experience or knowledge what kind of setup should I get and I don't want to break my bank to enjoy my new Kappa speakers at theirs potentiel. Thanks! Bobcajun
Does a speaker wiring adapter like the recurve of this video exists for an Edge? I don't wont to cut or tap existing wiring to redirect the signal to a DSP. https://youtu.be/Q4BeH6A6IYA?t=11m43s Thanks
Bobcajun
Any recommendation for a good 5-channel amp to power the Kappa speakers and eventually adding a subwoofer?
enigma-2
Not a recommendation but may provide a starting point. https://www.crutchfield.com/shopsearch/Automotive_5_Channel_amplifier.html
Bobcajun
Thanks! I will look at it and maybe call local dealers!
truckroot
I have the exact same speakers installed in my front doors. I used the lc7i to get RCAs to my amp. The speakers themselves are what I found are "punchy" due to their sensitivity levels and frequently response. I used the crossover on my amp to take some of the bass out. The speakers just hooked to the factory amp were punchy. I tried bass blockers (trying to avoid having to hook up an amp just for the crossover) but didn't like the sound. Amped up they sound amazing.
Bobcajun
Good to know! I was planning to put lc6i ou lc7i powered with hight level output speaker then add a 5 channel (for sub) amp. In this setup the speaker will only have mid and treble. Or trying to figure how to do a good install of a double din like Apline, Kenwood or Pioneer nav system by using a IDataLink Meastro RR to keep car wheel and sync features. This way I can connect a amp directly to the new headunit an have a better signal. The only thing I cannot found is the good dash-kit for the integration. I was checking on buy a OEM from ebay dash-kit for an Edge with 8 Inch display but not sure if it will works flawlessly.
Bobcajun
Here my othe post about my second option: http://www.fordedgeforum.com/topic/22443-idatalink-maestro-aftermarket-touchscreen/?p=172238
truckroot
That's a rough route to go. I looked into a dash kit when I decided to upgrade the audio but didn't like what was available. I have the 8" screen MFT with the HVAC and heated seats controls on screen. For me, costing out the: HU, dash kit, Maestro/iDataLink, adapter harnesses, back-up camera, and microphone was way too much money. I was able to get two amps, four coaxial door speakers, and a sub for less. My end goal was better sound and I am OK with the look/function of the factory HU. Your situation may be different in that regard though. The quality of the signal from an aftermarket HU would not be higher than that from the lc7i. It is a powered LOC as opposed to a passive one with capacitors.
