lazyace Posted October 31, 2019 Report Share Posted October 31, 2019 I have a 2012 Edge Sport. I have had this vehicle for a little over 2 years now. My door locks have now developed a mind of their own. Sometimes they will unlock with the fob or the door keypad and sometimes they won't. At times, even the inside door lock switch on the driver's door won't work. If I turn the key from off to the on position and back off again, open the driver's door all works again. I have rebooted the my touch Ford sync computer numerous times but haven;t had any success solving the "possessed door lock" system. Ist there another computer I can reboot that controls the locking system? If so, how would I go about rebooting that system? Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

It could be as simple as the battery in the fobs or the vehicle battery itself. Weird behavior is typical of a battery starting to give out. Check cold cranking amps, not just voltage. Tho typically a Battery Saver message comes on Sync if the battery is failing. Did you get such a message? It is also possible the Remote Keyless Entry module is causing these problems. The reported incident rate is very low tho. Could be a short in the wiring itself leading to the driver controls. But have not heard of it causing issues like you are seeing. I guess I should have mentioned that I replaced the key fob battery thinking at first this would solve the problem. Also, I had a new vehicle battery installed this past May. The problem with the locks began before the new battery install so that shouldn't be a factor. Any idea where the Remote Keyless Entry module is located? Perhaps if I were to drop power to it and "reboot" it that might do it. Worth a try but I have not a clue as to where it is located. coeperc Posted October 31, 2019 Report Share Posted October 31, 2019 I'd be skeptical of the driver door latch assembly which is a known issue on these cars for the dreaded 'door is ajar' warning even when the door is closed. If the door lock computer thinks the door is ajar it will constantly try to keep the doors unlocked and will mess everything up creating conditions similar to what you describe. Had this been about a year ago I would have totally agreed with you because I too had the door ajar problem but I found and used the work around I read on this site utilizing a reed switch on the appropriate wire in the door and it worked like a charm. Sorry but I can't remember the original poster's name on that particular fix but it solved the problem and I am very grateful for the workaround. Fefe Posted October 20, 2022 Report Share Posted October 20, 2022 (edited) Keep in mind that all cars have a physical key used to lock and unlock the car. It might be hidden in your key fob or exist as a separate backup that came with the car. You should use it to lock the car for a while till locksmith e1 solves all the issues.
