best location to mount 7 round trailer connector? (have factory tow hitch)

Recommended Posts

I need to mount a 7 pin round plug for my popup (that has brakes).  Has anyone else done this, and is there a recommended mounting location?  I have the factory towing package, and was thinking of attaching it to the factory mount for the 4-flat plug (see picture), but if there is a different/better location, I am totally open to that also!  :)

I opted to use a 7-way receptacle that has a 4-way connector and pigtails for the remaining three circuits...

I decided to orient the flap's spring-loaded hinge on the bottom for improved visibility when inserting the boat trailer plug.

Good luck!
