2020 SEL - Where to penetrate the firewall?

Recommended Posts

Is any of what you want to do high amperage that needs a fused link right from the battery, or is it all accessory type things, like that dash cam? A fuse tap inside the cabin and not breaching a seal would be better. If going for a amp, then someone recently chronicled their at least partial install, including running large gauge wire to the cargo area.

You should be able to use the search box to find previous posts about installing a Dash Cam. I don't remember that anyone mentioned piercing the firewall. There is a fuse box in the cabin.

Its recessed and at an angle. Cant get to it. I need to get to the battery eventually.

Why do you need to go through the firewall? What is the goal of the project?

To get to the battery, something I will need to do for other projects. Do you have a pic or tell me where I can go through?

Ever thought about drawing power from the r.v. mirror? It's how I connected my radar detector and it works perfectly.

This is the Mirrortap wiring harness i used; (your device connection would use a different harness)

And Blendmount mounting bracket;  (again yours will be different)

The advantage is,+ a ten minute hookup, poweres up when car is on/run, off with key off, door open.
