Oxy82
Hi, I am looking to buy a Ford Edge and trying to work out the versions of Sync Systems. I can see clearly the difference with Sync 2 and 3 in some adverts ass the software looks completely different. But on some adverts on auto trader they say they have Sync 3 but the images of the screen look different. Is it possible to have sync 3 with this interface? I am looking to ensure it can be software updated to give Apple Car Play functions and I have read that Sync 2 is a whole swap out. I tried asking a car dealer who told me auto trader pulls the information from the VIN and is quite accurate but wouldn't actually check for me. Hoping for some help Thank you Colin
dabangsta
That is SYNC with MyFord Touch (SYNC 2). The Edge had that 2013-2015 2013-2016. 20172016-2020 is SYNC 3. 2021+ is SYNC 4A. 2007-2012 is SYNC with voice activated nav. Only 2013 and newer, SYNC3/4a support Carplay. I don't know if the early SYNC 3 in this vehicle needs an updated hub for CarPlay (I don't think it does). There are various options if it has SYNC2 and CarPlay, very DIY or kits to SYNC 3, or some add on boards. Edited to fix year range, I got it wrong (I focused on SYNC Connect and not SYNC) Edited Tuesday at 04:35 PM by dabangsta wrong wrong wrong year ranges

Thanks, I updated it because I was wrong. 2016 might require a USB hub update to work with CarPlay (had to swap it on a 2016 Escape, but not a 2017).
