2015 Greygoose
Hi guys, Helping out my father in law Who got to for a ride by a local garage. Picked up his car from the garage and instruments panel was not working, amongst other things. Quicker to state what is working. Starts, runs and drives. Also working are, power seats' rear windows, dome lights and power fit locks. I've visually inspected all fuse. All are good. Alternator was pulling 15 volts. In the process of changing that now. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
Wubster100
To get a better idea of what’s going on, could you share a few more details? What year is the Edge? What engine and trim is it (SE, SEL, Limited, etc.)? Do you know exactly what work the garage did before the problems started? Did the issues start right after picking it up, or was there a delay? When you say the instrument panel isn’t working, is it totally dead (no lights, gauges, warning lights), or are some parts still working? Any other electronics not working, like the radio, HVAC, headlights, etc.? You checked all the fuses visually? Did you test them with a multimeter or just look at them? Also, about the alternator, was it overcharging (15V seems a bit high)? Curious what made you decide to swap it out.
2015 Greygoose
It's a 2015 SEL with the 2.0. I'm not certain what work the garage did. My father-in-law stated that the car was turned over to him with the issues. Instrument panel is completely dead. No other electronics work. No HVAC, radio, headlights, tail lights, turn signals, nothing. Only visually inspected fuses. Will be using a multimeter next time I'm out to install the new alternator. Swapping the alternator as I feel that 15V may be overcharging the battery. Looking for a place to have the old alternator tested, now that I have it out, before installing a new one.
enigma-2 Posted yesterday at 03:22 AM Report Share Posted yesterday at 03:22 AM You ever figure this out? I'd have thought the alternative putting out 15v would have made it a battery problem (that and the multiple failures.)
