Ron Cambridge
I recently purchased a 2022 Ford Edge Titanium I just noticed it doesn't have a spare tire, there is a pump in the back area, however if a tire is physically damaged and it cannot be pumped up what are my options I am looking for a spare tire on a rim I called my ford dealer and spoke to the parts person and I was informed that Ford does not have any spare tires to sell to use as a spare??
Wubster100
My 2021 SEL has a spare tire donut. Do you have the storage space under the trunk for a spare tire?
dabangsta
I had to upgrade my 17 inch spare to 18 inch (I have FWD and upgraded the front rotors to the larger ones), and I found a lot of never been out of the vehicle spares from 2 or 3 year old vehicles. Mine was out of an MKX, and it had never been mounted or out of the cargo area. Even though it is 4 years old, since it isn't hit with UV rays, it should be fine (I have the original 1989 spare in my Cougar that I put on my Escape to get it to the tire shop). I was wanting an 18 or 19 inch aluminum rim with the T rated spare tire, but apparently sellers think they are gold plated, not worth the extra cost for a lighter combo. Also a lot of the ones for sale were the "kit", wheel and tire, jack and lug wrench, attaching bolt and holder. Just be sure it is an 18 inch one since you have AWD. Ford could sell you the rim only, and you can get a temp rated tire elsewhere if you want new, but unlike some other vehicles, they don't seem to sell the kit, that was optional on all trim levels for 2022.
edgeidiot
I know this will seem snarky and I apologize. Is the difference in weight between a steel and aluminum spare tire wheel at the most be 15 pounds? You probably know that Ford made spare tires optional with a charge of $100. I think it became optional on the Edge in 2021. It now comes with a compressor and sealant kit which I am sure weighs even less.
Samurai Edge
That kit will be good enough to get you to a tire shop but I would not take days to make up your mind where to go. IIRC, once that sealant is used, you may not be able to re-use that damaged tire. Has to do with the sealant all over the inside of the tire. Best option? Determine the size needed for a spare tire and buy one with a wheel that fits your car. And remember, spare tires are designed for temporary use, no more than about 50 miles before the tire degrades. I know people have driven a lot longer than that on a spare tire, but you are taking a chance of perhaps getting into a bad accident because when things go wrong, they go wrong at the wrong at the wrong time in the wrong place. edgeidiot
You need a T155/70R18 sized tire, a wheel (KT4Z1015A) which is sized 18" x 4", 5 Lug, 4.25" Bolt Pattern, and the jack with components. From the attached diagram, you only need the jack, mounting stud, wing nut and wrench so that it is secured in the well. The mini spare became an option around the 2021 model year. For some reason, Ford included the mini spare with some new Edges, but charged $100 (see the attached window sticker.) It was not included at all on others. I would search your local salvage yards for these items. Be careful that you find the 18-inch tire and wheel, not the 17-inch combination. Since the model refresh in 2015, these items have remained the same, so there should be plenty of availability. windowsticker.pdf
