1004ron
Welcome. Its likely that the installer trashed the rain sensor - have you tried it with it not in Auto? Who installed it, AutoLite SafeLite? . Edited Wednesday at 08:29 PM by 1004ron
JohnT396
The windshield was done by safelite. It's my daughter's car and I don't know if it has auto mode or not. Will check. It's a 2014 platinum model. I'll follow up. Thank you...
1004ron
SafeLite botched a chip repair and three windshield replacements following that. The insurance instructs the installers to use the cheapest glass, unless you insist on OEM. From your description it appears they've fouled the rain sensor and it will require a new one, and a possible a new windshield if it an issue with the cheap Chinese one they typically use. JohnT396
So far, no progress. The "Auto" feature is not an option for the wipers. Right now, we are replacing the alternator and having problems getting the serpentine belt on. Seems we are having various electrical problems all at once.
1004ron
Ford list a rain sensor for that model, so the report that it doesn't have an Auto mode for the wipers is surprising. https://ford.oempartsonline.com/oem-parts/ford-rain-sensor-lu5z17d547b See if the below thread is any help for the serpentine belt. JohnT396
This model/level doesn't have "auto" on the wiper switch. So I'm going to order a new switch. It looks easy enough to replace. Pretty sure this will do it. As far as the serpintine belt, thus one routes to the ac compressor and alternator. Very difficult. We used the tool to release tension, additionally 2 large screwdrivers and crowbars to move the tensioner further than the tool would take it. Then we had to pry the belt around the tension pulley.Never have I had this level of difficulty for a belt. Switch is due next week, Thursday.
