beachparty
Does anyone know if the spare tire could be mounted underneath the car to free up space in the cargo area?
pxb006
Not sure how much useful space you would gain by doing that, but I can't think of a good method to do so.
bbf2530
Does anyone know if the spare tire could be mounted underneath the car to free up space in the cargo area? Hi beachparty. :D While almost anything can be done with enough money, know-how and time, it is doubtful that this could be reasonably accomplished. First problem, it is unlikely that there is enough room to tuck a spare tire (along with the necessary carrier and other hardware) under the back end of an Edge. Since the Edge was not designed with an under-car spare in mind, there will be too many under-vehicle components in the way and not enough room. Second problem, designing a carrier and the necessary hardware to raise, store, lower etc., a spare tire. Not saying it is impossible, just much more work than most people will be willing to take on for the limited benefit. Good luck. :beerchug:
ablb
Does anyone know if the spare tire could be mounted underneath the car to free up space in the cargo area? Pay a visit to a local CUSTOM muffler shop, that HUGE stock cat back will have to go. Probably end up with a true dual exhaust running down the sides with mufflers located in front of the wheels. Like this http://www.louscustomexhaust.com/ should cost a few hundred $'s Then get a spare tire set-up of off something like a F150. like this. http://www.forddirectonline.com/partlocato...amp;catalogid=2 Be sure to measure twice, maybe 3 times and don't forget to measure how far DOWN the spare will hang. ab Edited August 12, 2009 by ablb
kempie
Get a rack for the top and put the spare up there.
carcondo
I have turned my spare over so I can use the offset of the wheel as storage. Bit of a PITA when you want to check the tire pressure is only downside.
