How do I permanently deactivate the reverse sensor. I can deactivate park assist when the vehicle is on, but it automatically resets when the vehicle is turned off.

I have a bike rack permanently installed on the back, and would like to deactivate park assist while it is on.

Anyone know how to deactivate it permanmently?

RTFM. Page 104 of the owner's manual:

Reverse Sensing System (Park assist) (if equipped)

This feature sounds a warning tone to warn the driver of obstacles near

the rear bumper, and functions only when R (Reverse) gear is selected.

1. Select this function from the

SETUP menu to disable the reverse

sensing system feature.

2. Press the RESET control to turn

the rear park assist OFF. When R

(Reverse) gear is selected, PARK ASSIST OFF will be displayed.

If I read his post correctly....he does this and it works...

...until he turns the car back on after he is parked somewhere.

IOW..it automatically resets when you turn the car on.

yes. This only works while vehicle is on, and is then reactivated.

Would like to know how to permanently deactivate.

Unless there is something the dealer can do, my only suggestion is to rip the sensors off the back ;)

My only suggestion was in the menu as suggested before.

You guys aren't paying attention. What you are doing is waiting until the reverse sensor activates, then turning it off. This only works while the vehicle is running and resets once you turn it off.

You need to go into the SETUP menu and turn it off there, per the owner's manual instructions. This will turn it off permanently.

Tried doing this with vehicle off, doesn't work. Other features are permanently changed, but the reverse sensor seems to always reset itself.

You should go into the setup menu with the vehicle running and in park and change it. Then go back in and check it. If it won't let you turn it off or it comes back on tell the dealer it's not working. Could be a bug.
