I bought an 8G 5th generation Ipod Nano from Amazon for $129 including shipping to leave in my car. It works great and the car detects it as soon as it's plugged in and you can control everything from the main screen. :yup:

Choff I am so excited for you! :happy feet: I hope they get that boat unloaded quickly! I'm sure you are dying... it's so close and yet you can't drive it yet! That's how I felt when mine was at the distribution center 20 miles away for 3 days! Believe me it's worth the wait! My 8 year old nephew was most impressed with the ambient lighting this past weekend. He thought it was coo!

Awesome! My Edge got to the distribution point on a Tuesday, was released to Allied Systems Ltd on Wednesday and it got to the dealer on Friday. It was only 20 miles from the distribution center to the dealer. From what I was told they wait until the car carrier is full before leaving the distibution center. I hope you get your Edge soon!

I'm still reading the posts so I'll be here to give you a big Yahoo when yours finally arrives in Alaska. :shades:

Finally got mine last Saturday! It is awesome and I LOVE the color! Here are a couple of pics.

I'd prefer it without the wood too! Just wasn't an option. So if it has to have wood I think this isn't so bad. Here are some better pictures with the BAMR open and some natural light. And I threw in a shot of the adaptive cruise control too.

Wilson, Mine started out on Canadian National and then transfered to Norfolk Southern too. I called Norfolk Southern's Voice Trace Direct 1-800-241-9230. Say trace and then give them the railcar number. It tells you where the railcar is when it's due to move again and it's next destination. I called just to make sure it would work... it said your Edge is in Decatur IL scheduled to depart tonight around 10 to it's next stop in Missouri. It's getting closer!

I've found a few quirks... I don't think that the voice recongition likes my voice. :wacko: I think I'm speaking clearly. Yesterday I said "Climate, Temperature 75" and it said "Temperature 85?" I said no. It said, say yes or no. I finally said cancel. There are some things that are visable only when you first turn on the car. Like add a phone. I had the car on and we were trying to add my husbands phone and could not find the 'add a phone" option anywhere. I turned the car off and turned it back on and the homescreen showed in the upper left square "add phone". I was listening to my ipod when I got a call. Once the call was over instead of going back to my ipod it went to the AV jacks and I had to touch the screen to get back to the ipod. I get a lot of warnings, bells and red lights, when I'm pulling in or out of my garage. I guess it doesn't like me parking next to the lawn mower. :yup: None of these issues are enough to make me unhappy with the car. I look at it as just a period of adjustment. It's a great car and I'm still so excited to be driving it! :hyper:

Wilson Do you have the railcar number? Once I had that, I tracked it on the Railroads website.

I asked cyberdman about the "lock" and this is what he wrote back. It isn't locked, they just finally put some well-needed and long-overdue controls on this forum so that you can't just sign up for the forums to start bombarding this request forum and then leave forever when you're done with us. This request forum is a privilege, not a right and not to abuse for your own personal needs. You need to already be an active forum member to use this forum. Right now it is only set at 10 posts, personally I think that is too low, but at least it is something. Unfortunately this forum and that forum don't share so there's no way to know how long you've been a member here. I actually joined that forum first when I was looking for info about my Edge. I found this forum later.

I am an Interior Designer and in my opinion if you took the "wood" out of the Edge and the "wood" out of a BMW X3 you wouldn't be able to tell which came from which or which was real and which was plastic. Technology has advanced enough that even the plastic look real. Just my opinion. Choff I'll take a better picture and post it for you.

Wilson, Here's a picture of the key fob so you can see the actual size of it. I don't think it's anymore cumbersome than my old focus key and fob together. I love not having to fumble around to get it out to open the doors when my hands are full. Just walk up grab the handle doors unlock and you're good to go!

Choff I think the wood looks good. To me it looks as good as the wood trim in a BMW or Mercedes and adds a nice accent to the dash. Here's a picture of the dash I took in the garage with my phone/flash. Not the best picture but you can see the wood. I'll try to take a better picture in natural light today.

I just got my 2011 on Saturday. I think the attenna is small enough that it would be fine in a touchless carwash. The other kinds with roller and stuff I would take it off. I'm pretty sure it just unscrews.

I love the Vista Roof aka BAMR (Big Ass Moon Roof) :shades: I've had two Mustang Convertibles and had a moonroof on my Focus. This is like the best of both with less noise. Today I had the roof open all the way and all the windows down. The deflector helps with the wind noise and I didn't feel like I was being blown to bits. I also saw a comment that someone cut their finger on the metal around the vista roof so I had the dealer look it over and run his hand around to make sure there were no rough spots. It all checked out. The roof is nicely tinted too so even when it's closed you can keep the shades open without feeling like your being cooked. Also the tinting even on my Bordeaux color makes the roof blend when it's closed. I can't imagine not having it!

We've had a beautiful sunny day today here in St Louis. I had the BAMR open and the windows down! Just as a FYI the voice commands don't work too well with the wind noise even though it wasn't that noisy. The microphone is up by the visor. So far everything seems to be working great. I used the "Services" voice command to check for traffic on my drive home. Set home as one of my places on syncmyride. Took a few minutes then was told about construction, the flow of traffic, approximately how long it would take me to get home from the place I was and an alternate route and how long that would take. I set the adaptive cruise control. I love that it shows up in the left hand screen and it shows the speed you've set and the gap (1-3 car lenghts). It even shows a little car and then when another car is in my lane within the gap I've set it shows that car too. My car slowed itself down to maintain the gap and then speeded back up to the set speed very smoothly when the lane was clear. I love the blind spot sensors and the back-up camera. They both have really come in handy. Everything seems so intuitive I've only had to pull out the manual a coupe of times. I even figured out the garage door opener. :hyper: My dealer said that you have to buy a chip to make the car a WiFi hotspot. He also said there was a work around to use the touchscreen as a dvd screen while the car is moving. Someone was talking about that. Hope you all get yours soon!

Finally! After 4 long months I got my 2011 Edge Limited in Bordeaux Reserve Red Mettalic today! All I can say is it is awesome! :happy feet: Took it out for a spin of course. The engine is so smooth I was doing 70 before I knew it. Luckily I caught it before the policeman behind me decided to bring it to my attention. :yup: It is so quiet and the ride is awesome. It took 2 tries to connect my phone... but it was my phone's fault... I didn't have the setting right. And I had to go to the manual to figure out how to lower the voice volume on the navigation. FYI just say Voice Volume decrease. Now if I can just get the Homelink to recognize our ancient garage door opener I'd be all set. My only negative... the cargo cover SUCKS! I have never seen anything so pathetic. I'm glad I got the rubber floor pad and bumper cover but the cargo cover... come on FORD it looks like someone sewed it in their garage. My sticker hasn't changed since the first time I printed it out on 8/18. My patience is wearing thin... everytime I go by my dealer they have more new Edges and mine is still not there. They are selling them as fast as they get them in. I saw a 2011 SEL there today in BRRM. When I looked inside it had the touch screen all taken apart. I was sure glad that one wasn't mine. At least thanks to cyberdman I have information. I'm all for ordering them via Amazon.com like Wilson suggested. Maybe then the dealer would take notice and provide some customer service. Isn't that why we go to the dealer! My car has been 20 miles from me since Tuesday. Yet when I talked to the dealer yesterday and asked him the status he said it was still TBD. WTF!! My dealer must think I'm stupid. He's always telling me things that I know aren't true. You'd think they'd try to get my car here as fast as they can just to get me out of their hair. I wish I would have gone somewhere else. Not once since the day I ordered it, May 13th, has he called me. I've been the one calling to ask if he'd heard anything. I told him I had my VIN. I told him when the build date was scheduled. It P s me off! And to think he'll get a commission. The commision should be split between me and cyberdman! Okay enough of my complaining. As long as I get the car in the end that's all I want. It's a good thing I'm a Ford girl!

I ordered mine May 13th and it wasn't built until Aug 31st. It all depends on the priority the dealer gives it and the how many allocations the dealer has. Almost 4 months later I still don't have it... I'm hoping this week. I know it's hard to be patient!

I didn't think it was huge when I held it. I'd say it's about 3 inches long. But like choff1138 I'll have it in my purse so the size doesn't really matter.

Hi Ron, For whatever reason, the accounts don't cross between the fordedgeforum and the blueovalforum. I found that out when I tried to login one time. So I just duplicated my account at blueovalforum. FYI the guy cyberdman is out of the office until Friday so you'll have to wait on any updates.
