Have you tried disconnecting the battery to reset everything?

No, but that's a good suggestion. I called the Ford Sync 800# on Thursday and she said it's not functioning properly and to take it in. I'll try the battery first.
2. LOL @ drinking from a fire hose! It sounds like you've made some great decisions for pads and products. I love white B & S pads for paint cleaning. They aren't too aggressive and they really show what you pull out. As far as a machine goes, if your budget allows, I strongly recommend the Rupes 75. Comes with the right sized BP for the B & S pads and is an amazing machine. The others aren't in the same league. I have the bigger Rupes. If that's too much, I would say the Griots due to its superior warranty. The other thing I can't recommend strongly enough is to join Autoality's Detailer Club. Your first order will save you WAY more than the entry fee, especially if you're buying a machine (but he doesn't carry the Rupes-go to Kevin Brown at Buff Daddy for that!). Looking forward to seeing you at L2D.
3. Akirby, I don't care what the circumstances are that set it off, I don't like it. I choose to have it turned off. Prior to this last update, I could shut it off and it would stay off. Not now. I was hoping to find some other way to do it to disable it until I want it back on.
4. Sorry for the late response. The 4:1 mix of DG 501(or 105 or 111) to DG 601 concept was introduced by me to the detailing community a few years ago working in concert with Dr. Jerry Bailey at Duragloss. The mixing of the two is strictly a time-saving measure. I was doing Funeral hearses at the time and it was a great benefit to me due to the square footage of those beasts. As far as doing it, I suggest going to a dollar store and buying yourself a cheap plastic squeeze bottle (like a Ketchup bottle) and try to mix up just what you think you'll need. The mixture will thicken up after a few days and eventually will gel into an unusable solution. You will love what it does. IronX rocks. Period. Safe on everything. Don't worry about it getting on other external surfaces. Don't use it in direct strong sunlight (like 100 degree weather) and you'll be OK. You just don't want it drying on a surface. Spray down with water or with a power washer after letting it dwell. Follow that step with a clay bar for the win. As far as using a Random Orbital machine (a DA), is it necessary? No. Beneficial. Yes. You will pull shit out of your 6 month old paint using DG 501 and a white LCC or Buff and Shine pad (Autoality.com) that will disgust you. There are plenty of videos about how to safely use a DA on YT. With that pad and product, you are guaranteed safe. It would be a good investment for you. Look into getting a used one too...Craig's List or whatever might save you some $ on one so even if you don't use it for a while, you won't regret buying it. Having said that, it IS easy to use and you will be glad you bought one. You are always welcome to join the detailing forum Live2Detail on which I am on the B of D. You will always get answers to your questions there.
5. That's perfect. DG 501 is a fantastic cleaning product

7. Before the latest update I could shut it off and it would stay off all the time.
8. I hate this feature and had it turned off via the left side control screen. It seems after the update that it turns itself back on every new ignition cycle. How do I KEEP it disabled?
9. Use Collinite 845; you'll never look back! Warning! Don't let the low price fool you, it's strong stuff.
10. That engine sounds interesting. I went hunting for the torque #'s but only saw it in European measurement. Do you know what it's rated at? That would be great in the new design for Edge/MKX.
11. When it comes time to replace my MKX, I will probably end up with another SUV. I really want an oil-burner for my next one....I think it makes so much sense for an SUV to have it. I've been reading reviews of the new Grand Cherokee with the 3.0L diesel and 8 speed auto trans. Other than trucks, you hardly hear anything from Ford about diesels. Maybe all their efforts are being chanelled into EB engines? With the new CAFE standards, I think you'll be seeing many more on the market. I'm going to drive the diesel GC when it comes out this summer; I'm looking forward to it.
12. He looks like a very happy baby. Congrats!!
13. Awesome cars! So, not only are you the "new guy", but you're the FNG too!! Thanks for your service and welcome.
14. Is there a recommendation to lube something periodically? If so, I'd love it if someone took a pic of where and what product to use. Hopefully a slicker track will put less stress on the shitty motor.
15. I have not used any of their line. I have Opti Guard on my MKX. I am also a heavy Duragloss user. To me, the surface needs to be protected. That is done with a strong wax like Collinite (or better, Colli over DG) or the best option is a coating like OG or CQuartz Finest. Sorry I can't be more help a out Dodo.
16. Where in Ontario are you? You should consider CQuartz Finest or Opti Guard. Both are coatings which are miles ahead of any wax. I'm in the Windsor area and can suggest folks farther East.
17. I'm sorry, but I would recommend against doing that. The plastic will scratch easily. I use 0000 steel wool for a lot of things, but not on those wheels.
18. My brother in law works for a company who supplies heated wheels. He said it would have been easy to heat the wooden part also but Ford did not want to spend the extra $$. I have black interior with the dark wood and I love it. Looks very elegant.
19. Mark, how can I say this politely....there is a lot of misinformation on AG. You really need to evaluate the source of some of those posts. My friend Richard Wright tried to remove his 845 and it took several washes with Dawn and APC to get rid of it. Psycho ex-girlfriends are easier to get rid of than 845, hehehehehe. I don't buy the dissolve it thing one bit.
20. The DuPont stuff will wear off quickly leaving the 845 behind. 845 is actually quite hard to remove. It will still be there in the summer I would bet. You will have a hard time removing it even with dish soap! It's that strong! The reason it's called "insulator wax" is that it was designed for wiring and electrical things that were outside 24/7. It was made to be very strong and it is.
21. Sorry, just want to clarify. You won't get better protection from a wax than 845. Don't use Meg's over it. The AW or UWW would just for tactile smoothness, that's all.
22. BTW, I wouldn't top it with anything. Maybe another coat of 845, but that's it. Use DG Aquawax on it as a topper to make it very slick. Or Ultima WW.
23. Mark, I'm delighted it worked well for you. You'll be using that bottle for years, LOL, a little goes a very long way. Wait till you hit it with the hose, you won't believe your eyes!!
