  1. I f'ng hate mine!! I disable it every time I drive. You used to be able to disable it and it would stay off but that's been changed unfortunately.
  2. The FWD transaxle can't handle the torque of the 3.5 EB; it was tested years ago. Probably the same issue with a diesel.
  3. Do yourself a favour and research winter tires. It's all about traction and stopping distance due to a softer compound construction. They may save you sliding into the back of someone on dry, cold roads. Seriously, read up on it.
  4. I've never liked the look of it...too large. I usually keep my cars 6 or 7 years and it's now been 3 years. The GC will have a redesign by then and hopefully some more diesel choice too.
  5. There are 2 steps here: cleaning & removing the wax and then dressing it again. Black wow is a great product but the trim needs to be cleaned first. Use Dawn or PB or whatever to clean it, then allow to completely dry. Then do BW or Ultima Tire and Trim (my go to product).
  6. You're complaint that on auto with it set to hot, the air flow only comes out at the feet? It's supposed to! On Auto, it is resorting to heat mode, which comes out at the feet. Go into the climate system and select floor and console if you want it to come out that way; don't use auto. Sorry if I didn't understand what you're saying.
  7. At this moment if something happened to my MKX, I think I would replace it with the Grand Cherokee diesel. I drove one the other day and was really impressed although there was no new tech that isn't already in my Lincoln. I just really like the diesel.
  8. A warm welcome! I came here after trading in my FX35.
  9. With the forecast calling for below-freezing temps this week, it was time to switch to the Winter Wheels. I got these a few years ago and I am a firm believer in their safety. It was raining out at the time, so washing the car was out of the question. I removed one wheel at a time and then cleaned it front and back, including the back of the tire so I could letter it. Then the barrels got a coat of DG beta sealant followed up by Permanon shot from a paint gun. The faces already were coated with OG, so they just got sprayed with Permanon. It took a lot longer doing it this way, but the new ones went away clean and protected and the winters will stay clean for probably one day <sigh>. Here's the Summer's all ready to hibernate: Here are the Winter ones. The tires are Blizzaks. I got the set from Belle Tire in Detroit almost 3 years ago.
  10. Dr pepper, I'm in Canada so I don't get that. Although having said that, I got a US lifetime subscription that only covers the radio and nothing else.
  11. I upgraded my i5 to the ios7 yesterday and when I got into the Lincoln today, my phone wouldn't pair. Turns out, for whatever reason, the upgrade turned off my bluetooth. Turned it back on in settings (on the phone) and it paired up immediately.
  12. Just an FYI for Canadians who live close to the border: if you get them at Belle Tire, they'll store your off seasons for you. Customs can't charge what they don't know.
  13. The dealer performed the TSB on my MKX about 6 weeks ago. Clunk is history. They didn't want to do it at first but I basically made them, LOL.
  14. Welcome and congrats from a Windsor member!
  15. A warm welcome from the banana belt of Ontario.
  16. Tarminator rocks! I've got a 5 gal pail of it.
  17. The Detroit area has some amazing HD stations, namely WCSX and the D.
  18. Actually, it does not look that bad..you're lucky! I would try some rubbing compound like Meguiar's 105 and a micro fiber. Just keep rubbing until it improves. Don't go overboard, as the coating on those is thin, but for sure after a few attempts, it will clean up substancially.
  19. OK, we drove down to Virginia for a vacation, and the cigarette lighter outlet next to the centre console (NOT the one inside it) is not working. I suspect and want to check the fuse for it, but I'll be damned if I could find it listed in the owner's manual. Can anyone direct me to which fuse # controls that? 2001 MKX.
