1. A warm welcome from an Ontario member!
2. Collinite for the win; it's amazing stuff.
3. In the future, coat your wheels with Opti Guard or CQuartz Finest. That will give them the protection you need. I'm in Windsor, just across the River from you and my 2.5 year old wheels are pristine.
4. Hahaha...if you think that's appealing now, get yourself some Ultima Waterless Wash (UWW) and mix it up in a spray bottle and do the car after you wash it.. You'll be feeling the paint for like an hour!! I love UWW!!
5. Andy, let me know how it works for you. I've used it twice so far and it hasn't performed for me as well as it has for others. A heat gun is beneficial for it. Optimum has one (for leather) but it's a lot more $$.
6. Either CarPro or Amazon. CarPro is good b/c you can get some IronX which you should never be without (especially with white or silver!) and also the clay block is great for gentle claying once a year. Corey's shipping is both extremely fast and very fairly priced too.
7. I had it happen to me when I would be cornering and would be off the gas and then get back on it in the corner, it would engage hard. They set me up with this gadget with a button to push whenever it did it and I drove it for a week. Wouldn't ya know, the goddamned thing never did it once!!! Kinda like going to the dentist with the hurting tooth, I suppose. Anyway, it will still do it once in a while, but it's so seldom, I just ignore it.
8. In 2.5 years, I've had 2 on me go too. First driver, then recently the passenger. Ford is buying some shit bulbs obviously.
9. I've used Zaino and many other leather conditioners. The Ultima Interior Guard is the best. Just to give you an idea, I detailed an S500 that a guy has owned for years. The day after putting the UIGP on the leather, he called me and asked "What the Hell did you put on my leather?" I thought he was mad and asked him if he was unhappy with it. He tells me "Hell no, they've never felt softer....I love it!" I use it on my MKX. I highly recommend it.
10. Agreed, those guys, at least the good ones, are magicians!
11. I use Varsol but any cleaning solvent will do. I think Wally World sells one called Kleen All or some such thing. The solvent will dissolve the sealant.
12. I bet he looked good with that big ole "L" on his forehead!
13. Yikes! That is some strong shit! Sorry that happened to you. The painting is your only option.
14. I've tried many different cleaners to remove 501 from pads, and in my experience the best combo is: 1). Soak in solvent overnight 2) wring out 3). Wash with APC to remove solvent. Nothing else works as well. Just my opinion, but when you see what a bitch it is to remove the 501, you get an appreciation of how strong the sealant is in that product....think of it...it's meant for boats submersed in water for months!
15. I completely enjoyed your post! I LOL'd many times. You, my friend, are a gifted writer! I am delighted that you took the leap of faith based on info gathered here and also that your results were so great. Without trying to sound condescending, I am proud of you. As far as the IX goes, if you see purple, even on the ground, that means it was interacting with contamination on the surface. Otherwise it stays clear..that's how you know. For cleaning DG 501 or 105 out of your pads, I suggest using a solvent. Let the pad soak overnight and THEN use APC on it. Squeaky clean after that. Again, my sincere appreciation for taking the time to write a brilliant article!!
16. Try a strong APC like Zep Citrus cut at 4(water):1(product). If not, use a VERY mild polish.
17. <blockquote class='ipsBlockquote'data-author="chiefc2" data-cid="94984" data-time="1365469571">
I made the mistake of using metal chrome polish on the chrome wheels of my Edge Limited. They seem to have a haze on them. Is there any way to bring them back to new ?

18. Like any product, just make sure you follow the directions. The surface needs to be clean and dry.
19. I'll tell you about a product that will blow those others away, AND has good wear protection. You can use it on fabric or leather. Check out the video too! http://www.carpro-us.com/cquartz-fabric-leather-coat-100ml/surface-protection/ Video
20. I forgot to say, once they're clean, apply Collinite 845 wax to them. Use it for your paint too.
21. They won't be raw aluminum, they'll be coated. Clean them as per normal. Zep Citrus APC cut at 4:1 should do it for you. After that, car wash soap if you keep on top of it.
22. Cool. Glad to help. Looking forward to the pics.
23. Congrats on your gorgeous new ride! I just stream my iphone5 or plug it in directly.
24. Edgieguy was selling a set a while back. Hopefully they're still available or check EBay.
25. Good for you with your purchase. I'm going to spend a bit more of your money, lol. Go to CarProUsa (owned by Corey who's a friend of mine and also a B of D at L2D. He sells the IX and also get the clay block. Easier to use than clay as there's no kneading needed, you can drop it on the ground and not have it ruined (just wash it off) and you can do many cars with it. These 2 products should remove that crap on your paint and then the DG 501 will bite into it. Here's links to both of them: http://www.carpro-us.com/iron-x-500ml/vehicle-decontamination/ http://www.carpro-us.com/polyshave-decon-block/wash-decontamination/ Take pics and let us know how it goes for you. We love happy endings.
