  1. I don't know if you're aware of Autoality's Detalers' Club, but if you order any products, you will save an absolute TON buying from it. We have a ton of guys on L2D that belong. They all have one complaint however: they kick themselves in the ass for not doing it sooner!! http://www.detailersclub.com/store/pc/home.asp
  2. OK, I called my local (Canadian) dealer who wanted $45 (+13% tax!). I was only able to find one online source, however, it was 1/2 the cost of the dealer markup. I ordered 2. If anyone is interested, here's the link: http://www.autopartstomorrow.com/part_numbers/380550-climate-control-seat-filter
  3. I would check on a site like Tire Rack, etc to see whether the same winter wheels will fit both models.
  4. Jared, like many others in our Edge/MKX community, I was heartbroken to read your story. I love the one pic with Riley and his diploma...he just looks so proud!! I wish you the best on getting justice and dealing with your terrible loss. Godspeed.
  5. Thanks for the link, but, no it's not the air cabin filter. It's a round one under the seat for the climate controlled seats. The dealer has one, but it's $45. I was hoping to find one cheaper somewhere. I must be searching for it incorrectly.
  6. After reading Joe's thread about the restricted air flow from the seats and seeing Akirby's response about the filter, I went looking online for an aftermarket option. According to the manual, it looks round. The only aftermarket one I could find was from JC Whitney, but it was square. Any leads on one?
  7. Joe, I think it does come out of both, but it comes out so lightly out of the back, not nearly as strong as the bottom. The only time I really felt it come out of the back is when I had hurt my back and it was really tight...it was more sensitive to the cold then I think. Ummm...just to be clear....I'm not advocating that you hurt your back to feel the cooling, LOL.
  8. Yes, thanks. We had a package with RCI and ended up using it for an 8 night trip to Virginia. Looking forward to the R & R!!
  9. Welcome from one detailer to another!

    hi

Mike, welcome to you both and congrats on your new ride!
  11. Thanks for posting this. I had heard about it on L2D. It does not appeal to me, as I've got samples of things people have sent me that I haven't even tried yet. I'm so used to grabbing for what I know will work, I don't like to take the time to experiment. I'm usually on a tight timeline too.
  12. I don't know what to tell you. All I can say is you should never count on a wax to improve the look of the paint. Only polishing will do that. 845 needs to go on thinly and it will last a long time. I like the look it gives, but since I've gone to coatings, I haven't used it in a long time.
  13. Congrats on your purchase.
  14. Glad to help and even though it's frustrating to find those rust spots now, better while under warranty than after! I'll share 2 links to show the idea behind sheeting as a final rinse method. The first is a video from my website which was done to show the power of Optimum Opti Guard after being on a car for a year. In this case, I actually use a watering can which is fine as long as you're careful not to bump into the paint. http://www.flawlessreflectionsautodetailing.com/nano-coatings.html The next one is a video done by a guy named Junkman. He has some helpful videos but is or was a shill for Adams products. Nonetheless, the video does show it. In words, you want to rinse the car first normally to remove all the soap. Then you let water run GENTLY from the hose starting from the top and then work your way down. Always work from one end of the panel to the other (preferably from high side to low, let gravity work for you, not against). It can be done pretty quickly. Absolutely worth the extra effort when you see how little water remains. http://m.youtube.com/#/watch?v=WAmb9DWdnFc One last thing. At this point, you can convince your neighbours that they were right about you all along that you are crazy when you break out the leaf blower to dry the rest of the car without touching the paint. (The less you touch=the fewer swirls in the paint). I would recommend one solely for this purpose so you have no risk of blasting any foreign material onto the surface. The 2nd option is to use AW or UWW sprayed onto the slightly wet surface and then dry the combo of rinse water and UWW from the surface. Why? Protects the paint with the lubricity of the product. Dry with a soft mf drying towel and you'll have a slick, clean, defect-free surface.
  15. Do you have the TSB #?
  16. A couple of things come to mind. #1, you can't judge the protection by the slickness. Slickness goes away quickly, but I'll share an easy fix for that in a minute. You judge protection by the sheeting ability of the paint when it's clean. Dirty paint will never sheet. I use and recommend Duragloss 901 shampoo. Very reasonably priced, available locally and very effective. If your paint isn't sheeting after 501 and 845, I'll be blown w away. It's a bulletproof combo. Now for #2, slickness. I'll recommend 2 products that are cheap and will give you not only slickness, but when used as a drying aid, will help protect against marring too. Either Duragloss Aquawax (again available locally) or Ultima Waterless Wash (UWW). The Ultima comes in a 16 oz concentrate and you dilute it 1/2 oz to 22 oz of water! UWW wins for slickness, but not by a lot. If you do the flooding method to rinse your vehicle, not much water will be left. Spray either AW or UWW on each panel and dry with a soft drying mf. Safe drying technique with added bonus of a VERY slick surface. I do ONR washes a lot in the summer and follow that with UWW. Another great option to consider. Hope that helps.
  17. A little late in reading this, but happy to hear it. Lol @ love potions!
  18. I've never done it, but you can use a heat gun CAREFULLY to try to even them out. Check for vids on YT.
  19. What are you saying? The MKC Looks WAY better than that thing. Neither do I think that will be the new Edge.
  20. I have seen test mules of the new smaller version of the Lincoln running around Dearborn....I think it will be called MKC. I've been looking for new Edge or Lincoln mules. None yet unfortunately.

    Turn in man card?

Buy it so you can be our bitch....hahahahahaha.
  22. Liquid Colli is easier to use. I bought some of the paste wax and didn't like how it was to work with so I traded it away. 845 and the Metal wax are extraordinary IMO.
  23. This is what I've been using lately...or Opti Bond. I apply with an air gun. http://www.autoality.com/store/pc/viewPrd.asp?idproduct=421&idcategory=203 Here is a job I did last week using it: http://www.live2detail.com/showthread.php?4934-1981-380-SL-A-Mini-Restoration
