  1. I had not intended to wait this long for the update but had more pressing matters that I had to do which kept me from taking the Edge in. I have also seen improvements with the earlier releases and hope this one helps. Biggest problems I have are the calendar showing the date as December 2030 and the clock not being correct on GPS and on manual it keeps changing.
  2. Called dealer today to set up an appointment for the 2.8 update and was advised by the service advisor that their radio tech had been told that another major update was coming out next week and advised me to wait till then. Will go next week and get whatever they have then. There seems to be a new update every week!
  3. I think this is showing up for everybody. On the Owner to Owner site it was reported to be a result of the Sync site upgrade over the weekend.
  4. Were you able to get a discount on the Sirius? Mine is coming up for renewal and the Ford special renewal rate ain't so great or special  I have read that if you wait until it expires or call and say that you are going to cancel that you can get a discounted renewal.
  5. Haven't had the update yet., still on 2.4. Will be at least a couple of weeks before I can get it done, schedule too busy right now to interrupt for the upgrade. Getting my 1970 BOSS 302 ready for a MCA Mustang show and then a short trip, but after that I will be calling the dealer and get the upgrade done.
  6. Keep us updated on the results. I won't be able to take mine in for a couple of weeks but sure would like to know if the update fixes the problem.
  7. The update process has gotten a lot better then it was at first. Just be patient and don't take your vehicle in when you are pressed for time, just in case! As far as I know no one has reported not being able to finally get an update. It did take me 2 weeks to finally get my update but when then actually did the update the 2nd time it only took about 4 hours, some are reporting 2 hours now. Some have had to have the entire module replaced however when the system failed but that is a simple plug and play as the come programmed with the latest. I am going to get all the updates I can because I think Ford will eventually get all the bugs out and the system will be what it is supposed to be. Right now the only real problem I have is the clock but there are a few things that could be improved.
  8. Does anybody have any information on this Service Bulletin? The calendar is the major problem I have with mine.
  9. When they updated my system they did it just outside the shop and I was able to observe from an outdoor waiting area. I am confident that I could (with some basic training about their systems) do the update as well as if not better then the tech. I build and mess with computers as a hobby so I may have more computer savvy then some but from what I saw I don't think it is that complicated to update the system. But you do have to have minimal knowledge and the DESIRE to do the job right. I did get to talk to the tech that did mine and I think he has the knowledge and desire but I don't believe that he was getting enough information and direction from Ford about the procedure and what it was actually supposed to do. I agree that Ford and the dealer need to get together and provide training that leads to certification for their tech. There is too much variation in the updates being reported here, some are getting it done in less then 2 hours and some are taking days.
  10. Training them to do the update right the first time, It is obvious to me that some of the Techs are missing something when they do the upgrade and training to check your work after it is done. When the Tech did mine I had to remind him to check the Nav system and sure enough it was not working and as I was about to drive off the Tech came running up and told me he needed to run a screen calibration. He had just talked to the Ford guy at the factory or wherever he is and found out he needed to calibrate the screen after the update. To me that is lack of training either from From or the dealer. Ford should develop a procedure that is part of the upgrade that includes checking all items that should be working before turning over to the customer..
  11. It is absolutely ridiculous that they are still doing this, I cannot believe Ford is not training the dealers better and giving them a checklist to make sure everything is working like it should. My dealer did the same thing to mine back in December when they upgraded mine to 2.4. Fortunately I caught it before I left and they fixed it. If the dealer will call Ford they will walk him through the process.
  12. At least it it getting closer , mine thinks it is November 2030. This is a fairly wide spread problem and appears to be growing in numbers.
  13. Got my update letter today. Edge was purchased in October 2010. Are they staggering the updates? On a semi related topic: The Syncmyride.com site will not work correctly with Internet Explorer 9 or Firefox 4, I cannot access the update portion of the website with the new versions of the browsers, tried it on another computer with the old versions and no problem. Appears they keep the website updated about as well as they do MFT.
  14. DST is what is causing my problem with GPS time. The system thinks it is November, 2030 and their is on way to manually set it. And the system will not not set the correct date. I am thinking about pulling the fuse. Will take it in for the update when I get a chance.
  15. Does your clock work correctly? and is your calendar correct? I am going to have to call my dealer Monday, My wife missed her Soap Opera today because the clock was off :yup: and wants the clock fixed! I know I can set it manually and that is what I have done for now, but I am getting tired of waiting for the fix and now this.
  16. Working just like it is supposed too, should have preloaded your brakes for you also. Have had mine activate a couple of times under similar conditions.
  17. Really don't think this is a firmware upgrade, but I agree it is not reversible. Eventually (sooner then later) XP will become obsolete and you will have to update. And if you want to get the full benefit of the MFT system you will have to update it eventually. These updates do add improvements and make the system better. Yes there have been problems but Ford does seem to have most of the bugs out of the update process. I upgraded to 2.4 and will upgrade to the 2.7 and later to get the full benefits of the system. I believe the upgrade is good through January 2012 so there is time to watch how it goes.
  18. Very good and lengthy discussion about screen protectors here http://www.fordedgeforum.com/index.php?/topic/5669-myford-touch-protective-film/page__hl__%2Bscreen+%2Bprotector Here is the web site of the product http://www.nushield.com/ I ordered one and I am well please with it. There cleaner is also very good. I find the film to be more resistant to finger prints then the original screen and can't really tell the difference in response with or without the protector.
  19. First is not always best as I learned the hard way. Last time (update to 2.3) was not fun. I was one of the first (I actually think the first) that the dealer did. They kept the car for 3 days the first attempt before they gave up and sent me home with a non functional MFT. Only control I had for temp and radio was through the dash panel and steering wheel. It was over 2 weeks before the dealer finally figured out how to do the upgrade and it still took him 6 hours to get everything working. I will get it done as soon as I read about a few successful installations, although I do believe the dealer has the procedure worked out now. The dealer actually has a very good tech, I met and talked to him during the previous sessions, and most of the problems were with the Ford server. Once that was straighten out it went fairly smooth.
  20. Probably not, but I still am going to pout about it Anyway, after the last cluster *&%$ I am not going to be a BETA tester for this one  . After I find out a few more details and see how the updating goes I will go for it :hyper: .
  21. My calendar shows a date of November 4, 2030 and as far as I can tell there is no way to set the date. And as a result of the date being off my clock is now an hour off unless I set it manually. At one time the calendar was correct, I don't know when it got off but when I first noticed anything wrong was when the time suddenly was off by an hour and I traced it to the calendar.
  22. I feel left out No LETTER! Maybe tomorrow. If not, Guess I will have to call my "LOVELY" service rep at the dealer and see if he knows anything and if he will admit to it if he does . I really need a fix for the calendar and clock. My system has a date of November 4, 2030 and therefore the clock is off by an hour.
  23. To me it just looks like they have temporarily removed the antenna shaft for the commercial.
  24. That is correct, but you need to do it before 12 months (12,000 miles?) or it will cost you an additional $100.
  25. On mine the AM reception just suddenly quit while driving on the highway, could not pick up any AM station farther then 10 miles away. FM reception was not affected as bad but was better after the antenna module was replaced. Dealer should be able to check the strength of your signal. Edit: To add module to antenna as it was actually the module in the overhead console that they replaced not the external antenna.
