  1. Glad I have the ACC but it did give me a rush recently when I was passing a big truck on a left handed curve and it preloaded the brakes when I wasn't expecting it. I guess the system thought I was closing on the truck too fast instead of passing. That is the only time I have not been pleased with the system.
  2. There was a problem with the Ford website a couple of weeks ago and believe me you don't want them attempting the update when it is having problems. They broke mine the first time and finally got it fixed and updated on December 21. The problem with the site was supposed to be fixed but I would not be surprised if it is down again. Just keep after the dealer and hopefully you can get the update, they need to download the upgrade locally first, so I would make sure they have done that before they start. On the first attempt they did not have the upgrade locally and were trying to download it over the internet to my Edge, didn't work. I am well pleased with the system now and I have had no problems since the upgrade.
  3. Have a 2011 with less then 2000 miles with pretty much the same symptoms. Dealer did a 4 wheel alignment and it helped but did not eliminate the pull to the right. Talked to the Service Manager and agreed to drive for awhile and then bring it back if it was still a problem. It is and I intend to take it back shortly. Pull is not bad but is noticeable. Does anyone know if the TSB still applies? Or did they make changes it the suspension in the later models? FYI: The TSB has been updated to TSB 08-7-3, the only change is in model year included.
  4. What you stated is pretty much the way I saw and understood from the tech doing my update. The downloads are determined my the VIN. It took him over 3 hours to get the Nav system and sync info (i) working after the initial download which took less then 2 hours. He had to contact Ford and they led him through the process. It appears to me that Ford is not sending out enough details to the dealers on how to install this latest upgrade. My system now is fully functional and the upgrade does appear to have improved the system. I did have a checklist with me that I complied from reading about the problems with the upgrade. And If I had not checked it out he would have left without the Nav system or the information system working. I caught that, not the tech.
  5. Yes, response time appears to be quicker and the voice commands appear to be working better. Over 3 hours of the Techs time was spent getting the Navigation System and sync info system working after the main download. He had to install additional files by USB flash drive. This was after talking to Ford.
  6. Just got back from the dealer and finally :happy feet: got a successful upgrade. This is what I have now: Sync VersionSYNC GEN 2 Confirmed installations BT4T-14D546-AD BT4T-14D546-AG BT4T-14D546-DA BT4T-14F496-AD BT4T-14F496-AG BT4T-14F496-BG BT4T-14F497-AD BT4T-14F497-AG SYNC compatible software BT4T-14F500-AD BT4T-14F603-AD BT4T-14F603-AG Everything is working and it only took 5 hours.
  7. My air flow is either through the floor or dash registers, no defroster. Amazing how different cars get messed up different ways.
  8. The service department keeps telling me they will be ready early next week. They have successfully done at least 3 if they are giving me the straight poop. If they don't schedule the upgrade attempt on Tuesday I am going to be an unhappy camper. I don't know exactly what or who to start calling but I will begin escalating the pressure next week to at least an attempt to upgrade it correctly. Have you tried turning on the radio with the steering wheel, that is the only way I can get mine to work and to turn it off I have to lock and unlock the doors, the radio will then go off when the lights go off. At least in the 70's the radio would go off when you cut the switch and you could turn on the defroster. My climate control is stuck on auto and only control I have is with the steering wheel. Man this is getting old real quick. EDIT: Just had a good conversation with the Service Manager (He actually called Me) about the upgrade. They will attempt to fix mine Monday or Tuesday of next week. He believes they have the procedure down now to where it can be completed in about an hour. The biggest problem was getting a successful download of the update, he said it was a 3 GB file, that is a big file for downloading over the internet and from personal experience that can be problematic. When they first tried I guess they were trying to load the file on to my system via internet. With the file now being local they only need to connect with Ford to confirm what options to load according to VIN number. Hope he is right, I do feel better after the conversation and hope he is correct. I also found out that the guy that does their upgrade doesn't actually work directly for the dealer but does this type work for several dealers in the Dallas/Fort Worth area on what appears to be a contract basis. I may have to get in this business, I know I could do as good a job as they have been doing and I have a new laptop and know what a USB cable is
  9. Mine was a quart low when I got it home and checked it with 120 miles on the odometer. Checked for leaks and oily exhaust and saw nothing. Filled to the full mark and have had no further usage. Apparently it was not filled at the factory or the dipstick is off. 2 liter usage is not normal but unless it gets above the liter/ 1600 km mark you may have a hard time getting Ford to do anything. I have not had a new vehicle use oil in the last 20 years or so, used to be considered normal but not anymore.
  10. Seems to be a common problem with the Dallas dealers. Mine finally was able to complete the upgrade on one of there new cars after no success for several days and messing up several ( including mine). They have practiced on 2 and the process seems to be going better, according to the dealer. Will take mine in early next week. Mine is hosed so I don't see that I have anything to lose.
  11. But, I have had mine for about 6 weeks and was in the Sync system until they tried the update. I know it is related to the update but I thought it was semi humorous that not only did they mess up the Sync/MFT they also wiped out my VIN on the Sync site. Gotta have a sense of humor to make it through this. And man is my system wiped. I would not recommend anybody to get this so called upgrade until Ford gets their S&*# together. The 8" screen is pretty much useless, The steering wheel controls do appear to work so I have limited climate control, the phone did sync but you can't answer, radio will semi work but doesn't want to shut off when you turn off the ignition and open the door, Of course no Nav system, Time is not correct and will not allow me to change, Temp is in C and can't change, backup camera dead. Basically anything to do with the touch screen doesn't work. The dealer is supposed to get with Ford Monday and figure out what to do. Sure glad I do have other vehicles to drive.
  12. This just keeps getting better - My VIN now shows as invalid on the Sync site : Please Check Your VIN There is a problem with the VIN you provided. Please check your VIN and try again or contact us for assistance. Validate your vehicle Not only did they mess up the on board system but Now SYNC doesn't like me
  13. "ditto" Was getting ready to post but you said most of what I wanted to say. Posting on Forums tend to be negative as most people are looking to solve a problem when they come to one. You have to filter through the BS to find the real stuff. I for one want to know about the problems as well as the good stuff. Threads staying on track would help but I don't want to bury my head in the sand and hope everything goes away. I didn't have a lot of the problems others were having but I read them anyway and didn't let it get to me like it appears to have on several posting here. The MFT problem is bad and will shortly become a nightmare for Ford if they don't get the update procedure fixed. I fully expect mine to be broken when I pick it up tomorrow and the dealer doesn't have a clue as to when they will have a solution.
  14. I am glad to see that at least someone was able to get the upgrade. If you read my other post you will see that I was not so lucky. I am confident that Ford will eventually solve the problem but right now it appears as if the upgrade is a work in progress. New cars are being delivered with the upgrade so there has to be a way to load it, they just need to figure out how. I think they need to allow the dealer to download the full upgrade and quit trying to do it remotely from the factory.
  15. Consider yourself lucky, wish my dealer had canceled mine. I will pickup my Edge tomorrow and I hope that "MOST" of the functionality is still there. The upgrade did not work on mine, I am hoping that the download didn't even start. The service advisor did confirm that the heating and AC still work but getting much more info was like pulling teeth. He did admit that they have not been able to download the update to any vehicles at any of this dealers site (Has 4 locations) and there were several in my situation. Also hinted that all the dealers in the area (Dallas/FW) were having the same problem. What bothers me is that I asked him before I took mine in if they had done any updates and he said yes. So I am now in a situation where I don't know what functionality I have and don't know when it will be fixed. The service advisor implied that Ford doesn't know when it will be fixed. I think it will be time to talk to the service manager when I pickup my Edge.
  16. My dealer is also having problems with the downloads, bad computers I guess! The dealer also told me that Ford doesn't know what the problem is with the download and when it will be fixed, and this is one of the biggest dealerships in the Dallas/Ft.Worth area.
  17. If you don't like negative news don't read any more. Just got off the phone with the service advisor and the upgrade will not download and Ford doesn't know what to do. I just hope that the attempt to download the update hasn't screwed up the system entirely. It is very obvious that Ford does not have their act together on this system.
  18. Have been reading about all the problems with updates and it is starting to look like a whole lot of the problem is with connection problems to Ford. I believe the secret to your successful update is the lack of disconnects or freeze ups. I know how bad this can be when I am trying to download large files with my satellite internet connection. It can be frustrating. From what I can gather the problem the tech was having with my update was slow download and freeze ups. It appears as if this update is not something that can be totally done locally. Hopefully mine will go better tomorrow or I will be an unhappy camper.
  19. Talked to the service advisor just before they closed for the day. The tech did not get a chance to try the update again today as he was at another location (Dealer has several locations and must only have 1 Sync Tech) but did say that the Tech had been communicating or something like that with Ford. Said that Ford had made some changes in the download that should help the install. Sure sounds like this update is a "Work IN Progress". Hope he is right. My system was working OK but I just had to get the update I believe that Ford will eventually get the bugs out of the update and the system but the big question is WHEN I would not have requested the update so soon if my Edge had not been in for other service, but that is the way things go sometime  Keep telling myself everything will be fine
  20. We are in the same boat, had pretty much the same call, my Edge is spending the night at the dealer for the same reason!
  21. We should know in the next couple of days as there are several that have had the update and several (mine include) being updated now or in the next few days.
  22. FYI this update is not a "QUICKY" I had to leave my Edge at the dealer today because of the length of the update. When I went back to check the status the Edge was hooked up and downloading the update but the Service Advisor said that the update was going slow and that there would not be enough time to do the update and also align the front end today. Hopefully I will get a call this afternoon that the update worked. I asked if this was the first update they had done and they said no but I'm not so sure about that. Will update when I hear more! UPDATE: Just talked to the Service Advisor and the update is not going good, update did not complete and they are going to restart it again. There has to be something basic wrong with the procedure Ford is using or there would not be the high number of failures on this update. They had mine hooked up with a 'long cord" ( at least 30'), I wonder if this could be part of the problem. I just "LOVE" being a beta tester on this system. I build computers as a hobby so I can sympathize with the techs doing the update, but Ford really needs to get their act together on this.
  23. I am scheduled to have the update December 9, 2010. I will post the Sync report after it is done. I suspect that it will update the system to the same as what the newly arriving Edges have.
  24. You already have the update. I am scheduled to get the update this Thursday.
  25. The Navigation system will also help you find trouble spots in traffic. On a recent trip to Dallas it showed 2 areas that had wrecks and gave me a heads up on problems before I got to them. One I couldn't avoid because there was no alternate route but the 2nd I was able to go around.
