will not play ANY video while in PARK
wlepse replied to Ryan Breitkreutz's topic in Audio, Backup, Navigation & SYNC
I never tried the video since I can barely get MFT to work for other operations I need, but I'll try to dig up something that outputs analog video and see. -
Thanks. Glad that it is that clear and not something you need to have access to their system to see. The first time I noticed the sound it wasn't particularly loud and they said all Fords do it. While I wasn't happy with that answer I did a quick search and a lot of people were saying the same thig so since they are new to me I didn't know. But recently as it has gotten colder I am hearing it more and really want to push the issue to get it checked out. Just not real happy with their fix but it is better than the alternative.

Noticed ours is ticking but how do you confirm your build date? I can't say I necessarily trust my dealer to tell me if it applies to ours so I would like to know before I go so I can push the issue if needed.

Or try a 2000 Mazda Millenia S, you have to remove the intercoolers to get access to the plugs and then you have to have tiny hands to get in there unless you want to take even more stuff off. Unfortunately I have sausage fingers so I had to take more stuff off.
-
Good luck I tried to do the same and the dealer flat out refused. Those wheels do look pretty nice though.

I don't have 22's to trade but might help if you put your location down and if you're willing to ship.

OEM HID part Information
wlepse replied to ovcrash's topic in Glass, Lenses, Lighting, Mirrors, Sunroof (BAMR), Wipers
On the 2011 and up the high low is controlled by a shutter inside the housing so the bulb doesn't move. Sometimes you can hear the flap move. As for the differences in bulbs the D3S has the ignitor as part of the bulb and the aftermarket kits either have it as part of the ballast or between the ballast and the bulb. The aftermarket bulbs are likely to have somewhat more variability as well in terms of color, brightness and focal point. -
No glove compartment light??
wlepse replied to JohnPR's topic in Interior, A.C., Heat, Interior Trim
It does seem silly but keep in mind that the lights you speak of are teh ambient lights and are an added package over the standard vehicle. But the good news is if you do a search here someone has a nice write up on how to add lights to the glove box. -
I tend to agree especially in this economy. Even big companies are having trouble so I would rather put my money somewhere that is less likely to disappear.

window tint
wlepse replied to yogregb's topic in Glass, Lenses, Lighting, Mirrors, Sunroof (BAMR), Wipers
OK that is fine...it just seemed like the paint was really thick and may make it difficult for the tint to adhere anywhere near the text and you'd end up with a big bulge. -
Mad photoshop skills...and I love those wheels. How much do the stock wheels weigh?

Stuffed does not make me get a nice visual. Reminds me of some of the unfortunate bathing suit cover ups I saw at the local water park. I am not sure why people think they look good extruding out of their clothing, nor can it be comfortable. -
window tint
wlepse replied to yogregb's topic in Glass, Lenses, Lighting, Mirrors, Sunroof (BAMR), Wipers
To those that had the front windows tinted, did they need to scrap off the painted info from Ford? I don't recall having anything like this on my last car I had tinted but on this car the area with manufacturer name etc is quite big and I am concerned it will cause a bunch of bubbles. -

Ok I am confused...you were feeding dogs ON the counter? I see the Italian greyhound reference in you sig so I guess it is possible but really? -
You can try pulling the fuse or a master reset but to be honest the next time you are in the car it will probably work fine. Sometimes that is just the way MFT works. If it is still non functional after a few restarts I would bring it in.

Hopefully this will be corrected with the new release they are planning on sending out hopefully in January.

Major Upgrade (Rewrite) Details
wlepse replied to netizenX's topic in Audio, Backup, Navigation & SYNC
I think that is a very fair assesment -
Drive faster! J/K...I think I have ours set to 2 and I can hear it increment on occasion but haven't really paid attention to be honest. I do believe that 7 is the highest (ie will change sound level the most). But what I haven't been able to confirm is if it also increment the other voice settings. It doesn't seem to change the voice prompts for nav but they come up so infrequently that I can't be sure.

But what other owners have that opportunity? In the official press release on the update: http://media.ford.com/article_display.cfm?article_id=35502 They have the following quote "While owners reported that they love the system, there were distinct areas where they wanted improvements. Earlier this year, Ford started delivering on their requests, beginning with more instructions and information on how to best utilize the capabilities of the system. Ford launched two programs modeled after what consumers experience when purchasing a new electronic device. First, the company added a new MyFord Touch owner support website featuring how-to videos at www.syncmyride.com. Second, free “SYNC My Ride” personalized training sessions for new owners are now offered through Ford dealers – scheduled at customers’ convenience. " To me that reads that the owners are idiots and don't know how to use the system. While I am sure there are plenty of those out there, that isn't the reason they rewrote this software. As a side note, I had no idea until now that Ford was offering personalized training sessions. Just another thing I have to find out on my own. I understand they can't send out letters each time they find/do something but being that I have contacted SMR several times you would think they would at least mention this as an option. -

Well I guess that is part of my point...there is very little actually in print from Ford. But they have touted that they paid to have dealers set up classes on how to use the system implying the problems were happening from improper use. -
I will admit that while the MFT can suck royally it can also be pretty damn nice. At least for ours it seems to save all of its acting up for one time and while incredibly annoying it is not the end of the world. Overall I would give the system a C- the way it stands now. As for the rewrite...no one knows what it will be like but the initial indications are pretty good that they have made things run smoother and faster. I think there will still be bugs since it is software after all but I think it will be a big improvement. Primarily I would say drive the Edge and let that make your decision. If you like the way it drives and you think the deal is right go for it.

Wow seems like you are more uptight than I am. Yes I do understand how big Ford is and that the dealers are not owned by Ford. I also understand they are trying to fix the problem and have never said they weren't. I am just saying it doesn't sit well with me when someone tries to blame their own error on someone else. Like I said everyone makes mistakes it is how we handle the mistakes that differentiates us. I just think they could be doing a better job communicating with the owners. To Akirby's comment...I agree the end result needs to be that the system works. But I still think there is a middle ground here they could have taken. I think indicating much of the issues were user error is disingenuous. -
Suggested mods (stocking stuffers) for the wife?
wlepse replied to wlepse's topic in Accessories & Modifications
Oh just thought of another one...she had to buy this nice (expensive) omlette pan but often uses a fork to go around the edge. She claims it is necessary because it sticks. I then pointed out that it probably sticks because the fork has removed the non-stick coating. This is immediately followed by the look...not sure if everyone gets the same look when they try to use logic and reason. -

Can't speak for everyone but my biggest gripe is the way they have handled the issue. Ford corporate as well as my local dealer are all passing off the issues with the system on the end users if they admit to them at all. Even with this rewrite their press release comes off as a product improvement to make the screens easier to navigate rather than a fixing the bugs and improving the GUI. Most people only know about this rewrite because of what they have read here. I have never received anything from Ford indicating that there were upgrades available or on the way. Honestly I just hate when people or companies try to avoid responsibility. Every f's up..just own up to it, tell people how you are going to fix it and do it.
