  1. I am sure she does but if she is like my wife the sunglasses are rather large and have extra stuff on them that make them less than practical. But oh how she loves her Bvlgari with Swarovski crystals.
  2. Ha this makes me think of that music video where the guy called a phone sex line and he has his own mental image but the reality is quite different.
  3. Yeah I knew what it was, just not sure that is the issue since the system was much better on 2.8. Seems like too much of a coincidence that the day after 2.11 was installed the APIM crapped out. But with that said my unit did take at least an hour to upgrade vs the 40 minutes Ford said, so maybe it was marginal to begin with??
  4. Are you sure the GPS antenna is on the roof? I thought there was a thread somewhere that indicated it was under the dash cover dead center.
  5. I would like a heated wheel, fogs and auto dimming side mirrors too. But I would also like to have factory HID as an option on other models and better interior materials and fit.
  6. I would agree with Akirby. Originally I was going to pass on the nav because of the same issues but the two options I had were either not cost effective or no simple enough for the wife. I was going to run a car computer and output to the MFT but the module alone was over 400 bucks. Also the wife tends to make a lot of wrong turns and needs a GPS to be ready right away. So portable devices get to be difficult in this respect unless you always leave them connected. But with that said our unit has a horrible lag. Just this morning I was comparing it to a TomTom unit and it is always 50 feet behind your actual position. It makes it difficult to know which turn is the one you want in a busy interchange. Currently the dealer is replacing the APIM; I doubt this will help this issue since I think it is an antenna issue but I a hoping it gets sorted soon. If they can get this right I would say the integration of the system is worth the added cost. Also it should be noted many other people are not seeing the same issue I am and if you get a vehicle with nav make sure you test it first. I never actually tested our vehicles nav except on delivery and sitting in the parking lot you don't see the issue.
  7. Well dealer called earlier and said the Ford techs recommended changing the APIM to see if that helps some of the problems. Not sure what that means really. Don't know if they ran a diagnostic on the APIM and found something wasn't working right, if they couldn't get the missing files installed correctly or if the files were present but it still didn't work right so they are going to try a new APIM??? So I have a boat of a loaner (Grand Marques) for the evening and they expect it to be done tomorrow. I'll keep people posted on the progress and if it helps any of the issues.
  8. There are tons of places online that sell Ford's extended warranties. At least for my configuration Flood Ford had the best pricing, but if you do a search you'll find other links as well.
  9. I am sure people at Ford do check out forums from time to time but I do not think they have someone that does this full time or to get any sort of meaningful info from it. As for you comment about your experiences being less than satisfactory....I agree completely. I did recently get in touch with someone that seems to be helpful and facilitate things getting done but it has taken some time to get to this point. And to be honest nothing has been fixed yet but at least I feel like I have someone trying to help. This might be the only thing that salvages my first Ford experience.
  10. I am not 100% sure but if you look at aftermarket units they claim to cover all years. Though I will say I purchased a Valley 2" hitch that they said fit and others here confirmed it fir but it actually hit the exhaust. Bolting points were exactly the same just interference due to exhaust can changes. Oh one other thing I believe the OEM units require you to cut the bumper cover, that is why I went aftermarket since they are designed to sit just below the cover.
  11. Well I got some more info from the seller. I had sent him some photos of our 2011 cargo area showing that it appears to be different than what they show in the Ebay auction and requested more detailed pics of the install. He wasn't able to provide those but did provide this picture of the installation and translation. Parts A, the rear cargo cover B, The base connecting with the car C, The rear base connecting with the car D, handle bar of the rear cargo cover E, rear seat of the car F, REAR hook working with part C G, the car door Install guide step 1, fix B1, B2 & A, make sure the distance between A & E is 2-3cm, locate the B1 at place of proper height. step 2, after fixing the B1 into the car, ask another person to pull the cover to proper location of the rear cargo box door, make sure the distance from F1 to the car and distance from F2 to the car is equal. another person locate the B1 & B2 at the same height place. step 3, pull D to the proper location of the rear cargo box door, and locate the C1 at the same hight place of B1 step 4, hook the F1 on the above of C1, pull open the cover then fix C2 There is install parts(screws etc.,) coming with the cover Just not sure I am willing to spend $100 on something that will require me to screw into the cargo area, especially when I can't confirm the fit is good in the first place. Oh well, thought this might be useful to someone who is more adventuresome than me.
  12. Well I finally got someone from Ford to call me back regarding all the issues we are having with this "upgrade." Just not sure what to think about what they are telling me now. I had originally done the upgrade to 2.11 myself with the upgrade being confirmed on SMR. Since then I have been in touch with SMR support and tried everything they suggested and then some to no avail. Finally they suggested that I bring it to the dealer. As mentioned previously they claim to have reinstalled 2.11. But now talking to this guy he confirmed with his SME that I am missing (4) files. He set up an appointment for me to have it addressed Thursday, which is great since last time I asked the dealer to come in for MFT they were busy for a few weeks. Anyway, while I really hope this fixes the issues we are seeing or at least most of them I am just dumbfounded how SMR site can confirm the update, dealer can claim to do it, I can contact SMR support and no one notices this till now??? The only thing I can imagine is that as the CS agent explained to me not all the groups have access to the same info. He was saying that SMR tech support is different than IVT support etc etc. What I don't understand is I have worked for several large and small companies with different divisions in different countries and we all had access to the same servers. Why couldn't Ford do this? I'll keep you all updated on what happens but I guess I won't really know if this is successful for a few weeks. Seems like it really craps out once a week, yesterday it rebooted for 15 minutes straight.
  13. There is a button on the wheel that looks like a handset being placed down. At least on ours if you press and hold this for a second or so it ends the call.
  14. Yeah unfortunately the system is only updatable via purchasing updated data. But with that said Ford is saying they will be supplying a new SD card the first quarter of this year along with new MFT sofware.
  15. I would say it doesn't hurt resale for those purchasing 2013 and on, but for those that purchased prior to that it does affect it. Especially if they continue to open their ordering this early. The 12's just showed up around September and already three months later you can order a 13 and you don't think that will affect their value? People expect model years to be about a year, not half a year, so they are artificially aging the prior models by having an early release like this.
  16. For a CUV of its size I do think it rides very smooth and is really quiet, can't really complain there. We may eventually install some sport springs just because the country roads here really bring out the body roll. On the MFT...it is a mixed bag. Sometimes it is great and I enjoy having it others I want to punch my dash. I truely hope the rewrite fixes things but if I were you and didn't have to get something now I would wait to see what people think first. I kind of wish we didn't buy the Edge when we did because the first few months really set the tone for what you think of the vehicle...at least for us. My niece has an older Escape and while the Edge's interior is way better I still think Ford could have done better with the materials and a few of the fits. But to be honest this was probably done to help differentiate the MKX. I am just a little dissapointed because our 2001 Audi A4 has better materials and fit/finish and would have thought domestic manufacturers would have closed the gap to an older model by now. My Key seems like a nice concept but our little guy just turned a year so I doubt we will still have this vehicle then. GPS is OK. I am dissapointed we spent $750 for it since I find it to be less reliable than a stand alone unit. Not just because of the MFT issues but we have had complete freezes, others have had the same and had to have SD cards replaced. Problem is the freeze seems to happen in specific locations so you may never know you have the probem until you really need it. We have also had very poor routing which seem to vary based on direction of travel. But the biggest problem is the location seems to be off anywhere from 50-150 feet. This is probably and antenna issue but is very annoying. Back up camera is nice but again tied to MFT so sometimes it works sometimes not. On the electrical issues and concerns over repairs...I think this is very valid concern based on my limited experience with Ford. If we decide to keep the vehicle we will be purchasing a Premium Care plan online to cover the vehicle to 125k miles. We tend to keep our cars a while and I need to know they won't be a money pit for a while. Right now I don't have that confidence with the Ford. Audi's tend to have a reputation for needing a lot of repairs but so far this Edge has had 5x's the issues for the same mileage and I am not including MFT glitches in that. As a side note. since this warranty is offered by Ford it is the only one I would consider. You might be able to save a little with another company but with this economy I feel better putting my money in Ford than a small company.
  17. Am I the only one that has an issue with manufacturers pushing out new model years way too soon? I really don't understand what the purpose is, why not just have different builds like the 11's or do as some manufacturers do and have a 12.5 model. Most manufacturers are very concerned about resale value/ residual value because it helps them sell/lease cars but doing this kills both. I just don't get it.
  18. I believe the 2010 and prior hub size was 70.5, 2011 on it is 63.4. Not sure what those Fusion hubs are but if they are 63.4 you may want to just try to sell them to someone and buy some new rims. I was going to get a full set of winters from TR. Rims aren't that expensive and if you get the tires too they mount them for free. Just a thought if you don't want to bother getting them machined.

    Front defroster

From the original post he did mention the air temps coming out of the other vents was already at set point or a mix there of to reach it. So the vehicle was warmed up. As for additional data for you unformtunately I haven't noticed the issue you are talking about but I probably will now and I don't have a temp device to help..sorry.
  20. Nie...been to your site before when I was researching stuff. Any chance you'll have any specials for forum members? If not still nice to have someone hear to ask questions of and get support on parts.
  21. Congrats. The MFT has been rewritten and Ford claims they have removed some of the clutter and moved the most used items closer to the driver/top of menus. It is expcted to ship out to customers in the first quarter of 12' so that should help you out a bit.
  22. Congrats on the purchase....if the wife has as big a smile as your daughter then your golden.
  23. You say it replaces the light....if this is true you may want to doublecheck your local laws. Some states may require all OE lights to be functional.
