Temperature gauge erratic/AC does not work right
edgemaster replied to edgemaster's topic in 2007 Edge & MKX
So, I replaced the fan assembly and now the driver-side fan runs again. I disconnected the upper left of the radiator hose and removed the air filter housing. Taking out and replacing the fan assembly took all of 5 minutes. Thanks for all your help, guys. Cheers, Ed -
Never mind. Found the yellow nut just below the lower water hose.

Hi, I need to remove all the coolant in my 2007 Edge. I couldn't find a petcock at all. Do I have to remove the lower water hose to drain? Thanks, Ed

Temperature gauge erratic/AC does not work right
edgemaster replied to edgemaster's topic in 2007 Edge & MKX
Well, I checked the fan motor for any kind of resistance but it seems to be an open circuit. For good measure, I applied 12 V to the open fan connector and it didn't run. Seems to be solid proof. I'll order a new fan assembly. Thanks for all your help. Ed -
Temperature gauge erratic/AC does not work right

By what are the two fans controlled? I don't mean the controller unit but what event/signal triggers one or the other fan to run or to stop? -
Temperature gauge erratic/AC does not work right
edgemaster replied to edgemaster's topic in 2007 Edge & MKX
The temp gauge sits mostly straight in the middle of "C" and "H", fan running or not. Only every now and then (maybe once a month) the temp gauge goes to hot and is back to normal after waiting 15 minutes or so. The engine never seems to overheat during that time. Could it be some kind of sensor? Shouldn't the engine check light come on? Or are there failure codes stored inside the OBDII system without that light coming on? -

OK, engine warm, no driver-side fan. Replace the fan assembly? -

Did that! The fan on the driver side does not run, the one on the passenger side does. Are both fans supposed to run when the engine is cold or only when the engine is hot? -

Thanks for the quick response. Is there any way to test that? Would the temp gauge go all the way up without the cooling fan? -
Hi, My wife's 2007 Edge acts up. The AC seems to work only at times and the temp gauge shows all kinds of temperatures. I had it tested and the egine temp is okay, there's enough coolant in the system, everything seems to be fine. Could it be some kind of sensor? Shouldn't the engine check light come on? Or are there failure codes stored inside the OBDII system without that light coming on? Where should I start searching? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Ed

Replacing headlights

They are foggy on the inside. -
Hi, My wife's 2007 Edge headlight lenses are kind of foggy in some spots.. I polished the outside real smooth but it seems to be on the inside. Is there any way to replace the plastic cover (or take them off and polish the inside) or do I have to replace the complete units? Seems like overkill to me. Thanks, Ed Sorry about that typo in the headline. Couldn't figure out how to correct that.

Geez, where are all the Edge experts? Is there nobody who can tell me where the air inlet for the interior airflow is? Ed -

Maybe the air inlet in the engine compartment is blocked with leaves, etc. Can yo tell me where this inlet is located? Thanks, Ed -
My wife just had an oil change done and they told her that her 2007 Edge had the same inside tire wear problem. I can understand that the front wheels might get out of whack every now and then but all four wheels? Is that even possible? What should a decent 4 wheel alignment cost anyway? Thanks, Ed

Hi, Can someone tell whether over-the-door handles can be installed in a 2007 Edge? We used to have them in our Escape, they helped tremendously getting in and out of a seat when one has leg problems. Thanks, Ed

Can't it just be pushed down where it came from? -
Windshield rubber strip question
edgemaster replied to edgemaster's topic in Interior, A.C., Heat, Interior Trim
It goes all across the width of the windshield. -
Guys, The other day I noticed that there is a soft rubber strip wiggling its way out of where the windshield and the dashboard meet. Can I rip it completely out or should I try to push it back in?

Hi Guys, The other day I saw a new Jeep SUV that sported a nice aluminum rear bumper protector. Alas, I didn't get the exact model. Does anyone have any hands-on experience with one of those?
