  1. Well after having my screen taunt me I decided to try something. I notice that the "insert USB" message was popping up after about every 5th time I'd start to get out of the car. Today on my way back from lunch I noticed it popped up after starting the car, which it hadn't done before. So while the car was running I inserted the USB stick...nothing no love. I thought about it and came up with the idea that if I can get the screen to come on while the car was running maybe a NEW USB stick would be the answer. Turns out it was. Cycled the key about 5-6 times with the new USB in the slot and BAM! Back to life. Everything seems to be working fine. Siri works, texts work, nav works, I will probably keep my appointment next Tue with the Dealer so they can check everything out.
  2. That screen only pops up when I remove my key. The USB stick even lights up and my phone (when plugged in) makes the charging sound. As soon as I turn the car on it all goes away, and the USB ports become inactive. Had to reschedule for next Tue as the APIM didn't come in.
  3. So I'm all set to take my Edge into the dealer after them telling me the screen was dead due to something going wrong with the update. Then I see this just before I opened the door to get out at work this morning. Weird stuff.
  4. Service Person said, "I need a new screen". Then told me that is "should" be covered under the APIM warranty. I asked "should" or "will be covered"?? She looked at the paper and said yeah its covered. So I go back Thursday at 2pm for the repair. Can anyone confirm the coverage of the APIM warranty she referenced? Thanks-
  5. Yes, I started the update it showed the normal message I hit ok. Showed the download bar and went back in the house to eat dinner and clean up the kitchen. Gave it about 30 mins went out to check and it was black screen. Went back inside thinking it needed more time. Gave it another 30 mins and went back out, nothing. Stopped by the dealer next to my office and they said their myford tech would be in at 2pm today. So I'll go back by at 2 and see what's up.
  6. Tired the update...looked like it started just fine, went in the house came back out an now I have a black screen. No response from touch screen, no response from the USB ports. no ambient lighting no console lighting period. No audio function either. USB stick isn't flashing. Looks like I will be swinging by the Ford dealer in the morning. Great-
  7. You are correct. The red arrow is the tip of the threads of the screw. I used a dremel tool to cut a slit in the screw and back it out. It was easy to start with the tips of my fingers for reassembly then worked it the rest of the way in with the flat tip driver. That one and only screw holds the little plastics arm in place which holds the camera in place.
  8. Does the new camera go out completely? There is a known issue that if you swap cameras you will lose the guide lines.
  9. Let us know how much the dealer charges for the reprogram.
  10. I've gotten so used to seeing the image upside down, I'm not sure I could park it if I got my camera fixed. LOL
  11. AWESOME! I still need to do this but funds are tight with daughter number 2 on the way. Glad it went smoothly for you. If you take it to the dealer please let us know the price to reprogram. Also can I get a part number for the camera, cause I remember there being 2 listed under different dates.
  12. Buffeting has been present on every car I've owned. Chevy, Ford, Mazda, Honda.
  13. Does it stay in the entire time? There is a setting for a delayed shut off.
  14. You should def send these vids to Ford.
  15. So you took the time to look up this forum, create a user account, sign on just to say your getting rid of it. Makes sense.
  16. For anyone that is having camera issues and wants to swap out the camera (if thats the defective part) here is what I did to get the camera out. First remove the 4 screws in the hand grip area of the lift gate. Next pop off the big interior panel. Kinda have to tug a bit but is will come off. locate the 6 nuts across the back of the trim piece and remove. Now find the the 2 plastic push clips on either end of that row of nuts. Squeeze with a needle nose and push out. Undo the small black wire connector and the flat grey one. I popped out the plate lights and wire harness prior to any of this.. Now that its off the ONLY way to get the camera out is to remove bracket holding it down....this is tricky. This is the bracket. It has one star head screw holding it in. You will see the back of it in that hole. Getting to the front will only happen with tiny tools. OR...you can do what I did and Dremel a slit in the tip of the screw and use a tiny flat head to back it out. No guts no glory LOL I reassembled in reverse order..camera/ bracket/ screw(if for some reason you royally screw up in removal I suggest a very small nut and bolt combo to reattach the bracket) wire harness/ lights.... So one thing I noticed when ordering a new camera is that there is 2 listed a older dated one and and a newer one. Im going to try the newer one and see what happens. I base this fix souly on reading other forums and people having this issue fixed at the dealer, stating that the fix was replacing the camera and reprograming it to get the guide lines working. DISCLAIMER: I take no responsibility for anyone who screws their car up. Attempt at your own risk!
  17. I've noticed on occasion when I thumb the volume up level with just one push it sends the volume to the max. Nothing I do will stop it other then turning off the music altogether. But it only happens once in a blue moon.
  18. I wish they could have made the rear floor flat like 2011 I have now. Not a big fan of the center hump. Definitely not a deal breaker though.
  19. After searching for this code C1001 - ODDTCS Vision system camera online I found another ford forum maybe it was explorer or ranger....but anyway there was a long thread about the rear cameras. Seemed to fall right in line with what people are posting here, camera goes wacky dealer wants anywhere from $250-$500 to replace. Most of the folks over in that forum that had their cameras replaced reported that this fixed the issue. They also said the new camera needs to be formatted/programmed so that the parking guides will appear on screen. I found a ford parts site that has the camera for just over $100 shipped so I'm going to order and replace mine. I'll let you all know what happens. Here is the link to that forum.... http://www.explorerforum.com/forums/showthread.php?t=318879
  20. Leads me to believe they know the issue, and know it must be a pricey or tedious fix, but don't care enough to even try. Had a situation with my first gen Mazda 3. Weak point in the dash caused a massive crack dash needed to be replaced but my local dealer said it was just too much work. LOL They even gave me copies of the official "how to replace" instructions. If I wanted to do it myself.
