A thought just occurred to me. I guess you could use any rubber/trim cleaner/protectant now that the wheels are dipped. Wonder if brake dust also would be less of a problem?

Would a thin bead of silicone adhesive for glass/windshields around the seams be helpful? This has been used as a remedy for headlights that would fog up.

I am posting this only because the link in Cellbine's post is down. Don't want to violate any copyrights etc. Instructions Remove three screws connecting bumper to inner fender wells on both sides. Next step remove screws holding underbody panel to bumper Remove 6 plastic screws on top of radiator support Pull back inner fender wells and disconnect electrical connectors to fog lamps and running lights Now just pull the bumper off starting wher they meet the fenders. It seems harder than it is because most people start pulling in the wrong place or try to take more off than they have to. Reinstall it the same way you removed it.

Ok. Cam phaser noise MAY be related to this tapping noise. I have listened to some of the YouTube vids out there, not quite the same. Sounds more to me like the old rocker arm/lifter tapping sounds. This may help: http://www.fordedgeforum.com/topic/7693-ford-edge-engine-noise-getting-worse/

There has been a TSB for the transmission range sensor, I think, for prev model years. Could be the same issue.

If I may ask, what oil are you using for the engine? 5W20 or 0W30 or ... Insufficient lubrication or oil that is too thin could be a culprit, that's why I ask.

I guess you are in a wait & see situation for now, unfortunately. Did the dealer refer you to documentation re: the 1 qt/1000 mile use? Owner's manual? Very interesting. Never had that problem with any of the cars I have owned since new.

Leaky turbo or oil cooler comes to mind right away. Are you seeing any blue smoke out the exhaust? Any smell/drips on road/garage floor? More serious implications could be blown head gasket (in which case coolant would be compromised and color of oil/coolant would change due to mixing) or bad piston ring(s) creating blowby.

There does seem to be a noise besides the fuel injectors ticking. Don't know what it could be though, maybe a pulley bearing?
