  1. here is an example of a huge savings over the official invisicord... VALENTINE ONE 1 V1 Radar Direct STEALTH MIRROR CORD Kit for about $10 shipped versus $30 for the official "invisicord". THIS seems like a reasonable price for what that product really is.. $30 seems outrageous. I like the mirror mount, but like the idea of it above the mirror - like kempi's method, which I could easily make my own as I am handy like that - even better as it seems hanging down below the mirror seems like it cuts off some viewing
  2. I suspect you "could" use the flat head from the front method if that is what your implying, but mine were so tight and snug, I would have marred up the plastic trying it slide a driver in between that tight tolerance, so I went through the back
  3. yeah I noticed that crazy price discrepancy, you have to be a tard to pay above retail, and I simply have a policy against buying retail - I don't do it. looks like 200-250 could get you in the door on that unit. BTW, why did you choose that over any other model? Also, is yours 1.7 or the latest 1.8 version circuitry?
  4. I was looking at some cords for about $9 delivered and the mount at 69+5 ship so not much cheaper I admit.... and then like the cord + mount kit for about 89 out the door, or about a wash. They real savings seems to be in the corded power source, but in a bit closer number crunching, it is about a wash BUT, if your like me and use eBay Bucks and Bing Cash Back, you can make it cheaper in the end to use eBay I love this idea, but DAMN those valentine one v1's are NOT cheap BTW, I wanted to see your photos of it in the Edge, just to see it car mounted so I can see what it looks like in our car versus the generic imagery
  5. come on... this thread is worthless without photos.. lets see it love the idea of low profile hidden clean wiring, you can see that (or not) in wiring projects I have done and posted here. The setup you mention looks awesome.. costs about $110 + ship for those 2 items, but pretty slick and clean install. FYI, eBay has some low profile wiring options as well and they have the blendmount kit + wiring option more affordably then direct buy.
  6. do it from the back, there are little tabs and they are very snug and hard to get to unless you come in from behind - via the wheel well for example. turn car wheels out, come in from wheel well and unscrew the inner cover and you can get some access to the tabs that hold them in place.
  7. nice mods. I have done them all myself nearly. my next one is that, rather than those lights you attached to the outside of the dash - 1st pict - I plan (have the LED and wiring already) to hide an LED into the top of the lower cubby hole roof. That way, light shines into the cubby hole and onto the little shelf, but it is hidden away so more ambient. BTW, you should search for my light mod where I put one into the glove box. you might like that.
  8. RetroSolutions is a seller on these forums here who many of us have used his HID lights. many. he even has an Edge specific harness IF it is needed as some need, some do not. search here for more.
  9. boy, about the time you did that, you should have also painted your calipers or got colored ones... that would be nice
  10. for flashers/turn signals on the Edge. you need the resistors for just general lights - map, cargo, rear seat... not needed
  11. thats an interior to be jealous of... like a spaceship pedals have been on my list. I would like to look into these when dealers start to get parts. There is a chance they could be swapped or at least, added - bolt on - to other Edge's
  12. never had this be an issue I installed a rear view camera FWIW having those HR is more valuable to those sitting back there than your loss of perceived view.. no way I would remove them IMHO
  13. stuff like this is why I never go to the dealer IF there is a chance I can fix it myself.. not that you could have, just saying that going in for something means you can come out with something else. one of the beauties of this forum is finding self help so you can avoid the dealer
  14. Hello - just fyi.. if you search here you can pull up several great existing topics - brand names, prices, install details - for after-market DVD headrests. Many people have gone that rote over the dealer version.
  15. ahh.. depends on the need I say for example, in my FJ40 with a small block 350 crate motor, I run a larger filter as that means I can fit in more oil and that means the cycle of oil takes longer and that helps keep things cooler as the oil takes longer to get back around as more of it. So, I think it just depends on the need. If you were doing a lot of towing, I would consider a larger filter for example. nevertheless, that is odd to see same part # and all.. hmm as I love conspiracy I say they made them smaller to increase wear and thus, cause you to have to need more maintenance :shades:
  16. I was thinking of this EXACT item but maybe I misunderstood the OP... I thought the OP wanted to mimic a glass roof, and that would be weak. Painting would not be so bad IF you also painted the hood. But to try to make it "look" like a vista roof, but it is not, is just asking to get clowned. and resale???
  17. this would be so weak ... don't even pursue this any further.. chalk it up to a lapse of judgment and move on
  18. IIRC, are there not actually 2 systems at play in the Sync unit.. one handles the navi, one the phone and that is why you hear different volumes despite thinking your using 1 sync system
  19. there are many topics, but up underneath the mirror is a simple opaic cover with a tab. need a screw driver, push the tab, pull down the cover, there's the bulb BUT the bulb is the cover. the units are 1 piece and not cheap. you can't just "check" the bulb or replace it. if you search here, you can find topics about how to covert 0 by cutting open - to a changeable LED bulb. but as is, they are like 40-50 per light/bulb/case unit.
  20. my '08 has never been an issue. the only creak that I have that sucks is the gear selector. I tend to set my hand on it and all that plastic, it creaks under my hand. annoying. sounds and feels cheap.
  21. normally those sensors that trigger those are a plunger/pin sensor on the door. in the case of the Edge, on the inside front most portion of the door (towards the engine) there is a black arm that pushes into the door when closed. I "suspect" that arm actuates the plunger inside the door that works these sensors. That is where I would start. pull the door panel - piece of cake on the Edge - and inspect that area/wiring/etc and see what you can see as a start.
  22. or try eBay.. always people there parting out Edge's
