Very nice! What did you use on the tail lights? I've been looking to tint mine slightly but don't want to go too dark. Your seem like a real nice balance. -Russ
  2. Thanks! I posted on there so well see. According to Ford's website the color is still called Tuxedo Black for the Explorers. Is the paint on the Edge Sport wheels also Tuxedo black? Thanks, -Russ
  3. Just a quick question for someone. Is the black paint on the Sport wheels "Tuxedo Black"? If so, would someone be able to provide me with the vin number for the paint? I have as set of 2013 Explorer Sport wheels and one needs a slight touch up in the black section. I'm sure the dealer will ask me for the vin number so they can match the paint. Thanks, -Russ
  4. I'm going to order a set of either 3 or 5mm wheel spacers for the front of my '11 Edge SEL AWD to accomodate the 20" wheels from the Explorer sport. I wanted to if since I'm using the spacers in the front whether or not I should also use them in the back? The rears don't need them to clear the caliper but I wasn't sure for if it was needed for balance with the AWD system. Any input would help! Thanks, -Russ
  5. I had the same issue wtih my 9006 bulbs (although it was the DDM kit) and could not get the bulbs to seat properly. I switched to a 9005 bulb and both bulbs were installed in 30 seconds flat! Not sure why but I'm not the only one who's had more success with the 9005's.
  6. I used glass elephant for my overlays and they were able to color match to the vehicle. Although I like the etsy site a little better being that you can get an actual gel emblem. Well have to see how my overlays hold up but this might be my next stop. Nice find!
  7. I know some people have had problems with them, but I'm more than happy with my DDM HID's. I took others advise and did not use their wiring harness, rather I ordered a morimoto harness. I do get the occasional mis-fire on the ballast upon starting the car only. I think this has to do more with the cycle timing of the engine turining over and pulling more amps at the same time as the ballast trying to fire. If I let the lights fully ignite before turning the key all the way, no issues! They are much cheaper and seem more reliable. I don't have any experience with their customer service which just means that I haven't needed too. The two shipments I received came quickly and accurate (they do ship from China but still came within 5 working days). Might be another option for you. -Russ
  8. sanche, It looks like a new site is coming for them but I'm sure you can contact them through the site and they'll get back to you. http://glass-elephant.pullfolio.com/about He was super responsive and was able to match the color of my car for me. Quick turn around as well. -Russ
  9. I belive the grill would need to be removed, the emblem should be held on with two plastic posts. I would just get an overlay and call it a day! You could keep it stock or swtich it up and it's a pretty cheap option. Easy to apply as well. I got mine from Glass Elephant and they are great. The one for the steering wheel was actually too big but I can live with the stock one there, not a big deal. -Russ
  10. I have 18" rims from my '11 on the car now but they have about 20k on the tires. One or two of them have a slight curb rash from the previous owner but I was planning on PlastiDipping them in the spring anyway and you woudln't even notice the imperfections. I would be willing to offer those + some cash for a trade if that was something that you were interseted in. If not no worries I understand. I live in Pompton Lakes and should be pretty close to you as well. Let me know if that is something you are interested in. Thanks, -Russ
  11. I have 2013 Explorer Sport 20" wheels on my '11 Edge and they do fit. You will need at least a 3mm spacer in the front or have to grind the caliper slightly on the rear edge but a spacer is the way to go. Other than that it will fit perfectly. I was able to get a pair of take-offs complete with tires and TPMS sensors and didn't have to do anything to have the car recognize the new sensors. That might be the way to go imho. I don't think they changed anything from '13 to '14 on the Explorers wheels either. -Russ
  12. Ebay can be your friend. I picked up a set of the 20" black wheels from the '13+ Explorer sport which is very simliary to the wheel you're looking for on there. Took a little searching to find a good deal but came w/ tpms sensors and everything. -Russ
  13. I had an issue with other lights when I installed my HID kit, turned out that it was a loose ground wire. I would suggest doubling back and making sure that all of your grounds are good grounds themselves and that they are tight. I used a factory ground that was under the headlights and toward the front bumper for both sides of mine and seems to be a solid ground. -Russ
  14. I haven't heard antyhing of that nature with HID's in these housings. Now I have heard of that if you were to install those horrible blue bulbs into a regular housing, i.e. ricer civic upgrades, but these are safe. Lots of people on here have the same HID kits or others and have not had any noted issues. I've had mine installed for about 6 months and going strong, others have had then for much longer.
  15. I have used the silverstar's in my previous cars and definately liked the output, much better than stock. I know at least with HID upgrades you can use a 9005 or 9006 size bulb as a replacement for the 9012's as I can't seem to find the silvestars in that size either. Honestly though, if you don't mind a little extra work on the installation for the price I would go with a full HID kit from DDMtuning.com. The 35w kit is only $29.99 + shipping and you will have a much better output than the silvertars alone which run around $35 depending on where you shop. -Russ
  16. I too wasn't satisfied with the light output of my original 6k kit. I ended up going with the 55w 5k kit from DDM with a morimoto harmess and it's perfect! Soooooo much bright white light! Remember if you go 55w it will burn brighter so the 5k will look almost like the 4300. Mine is super white with a hit of blue only on the very top before the cutoff.
  17. Gonna try and bump this back into action.........
  18. Sooooooooooo......... No one has used wheel spacers here?
  19. The HID kits do come with the ballasts and potentially a relay harness. The harness is optional depending on the wattage but is recommended. I would pick up a 35w or 55w 500k 9005 kit from ddmtuning.com with the harness (especially if you go with 55w). The shipping is a little pricey but the still ends up being about the same price as just replacing the bulbs and you'll be much happier with the HID's. You can also use a 9006 bulb but myself and others on here have had issues putting the actual bulbs in. I switched to the 9005 bulb and they went in right away. Definitely worth the small investment as my lights are super bright now and as long as you aim them correctly you won't blind any other drivers.
  20. So I've been looking for a set of wheel spacers and trying to find a pair that are hubcentric. I can't find any that are either 3 or 5 mm that have a 60.4mm hub. Has anyone found any that work on a '11+ Edge? I've never used these before and don't know the cons of using a non-hubcentric. I know it won't line up perfectly but won't the studs hold in the center? If you have links to the ones that you've used that would be awesome. Thanks, -Russ
  21. Exactly they are Explorer sport rims, I like the slight difference from the Appearance package rims. A little more concave and the machined sections are slimmer, a little less bell shaped than the appearance package. I picked them up as takeoffs from ebay and actually picked them up in Mt. Vernon, NY so I saved a bunch on shipping. He does have another pair for sale and you are in NJ so isn't that far if you wanted to save on the shipping. http://www.ebay.com/itm/20-FORD-EXPLORER-SPORT-BLACK-WHEELS-RIMS-TIRES-2011-12-13-2014-FACTORY-OEM-/281149729321?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Wheel_Packages&hash=item4175d46a29#ht_102wt_1172
  22. Car is real dirty but just finished putting on the new shoes! Those are nice and clean
  23. Hey Dave, I know it was a while ago but do you remember where you got the spacers? Thanks, -Russ
  24. Sorry to be slightly off topic, but would you just keep the bumper on and tape the grill instead for dipping? I'm probably going to PD my grill this weekend and was going to take the bumper off. But if the clips in the back are that bad and take a while to get off I might as well spend the time taping if off instead. Thanks, -Russ
