  1. Sooooo....... what time does the site launch? I just checked and it still says coming soon. I'm v. excited, hopefully I can afford them right now and install them when I take the bumper off to plasti-dip the grill. -Russ
  2. I agree, I'm no expert but why would Ford build the spot for the ballasts into the housing but have different internals to accomodate the oem HID's? Not a very good mass production practice imo. I recently installed a DDM 55w 5000k 9005 kit after having numerous issues installing the 9006 bulbs and the light output is phenomenal! Couldn't be happier!! I haven't been blinding anyone, if you aim your lights correctly you won't blind anyone except for maybe bambi! I would just make sure that you get a harness if you go 55w. For the price I would go DDM over Morimoto (Retrofit), morimoto might be a better product but you can buy multiple DDM sets for the cost of one morimoto. That being said, I did use the Morimoto harness :shades: ...... -Russ
  3. Hey Mike, how's the ride with the H&R's? I've been thinking of getting a set but not sure how much it changes the ride. I like how smooth the ride is (well that's compared to my lowered wrx). I don't have 20's yet but they are in the plan for the future. Thanks, -Russ
  4. I gotta say that you won't be disappointed with the DDM 55w kit and it's 1/4 of the price! I also have the Morimoto harness which is pretty beefy and woth the investment as some have had issues with the longegivty of the DDM harness. -Russ
  5. I was looking around for options to integrate a turn signal into the side mirrors and came accross these: http://www.aftermarketautoshop.com/suvs-crossovers/ford-edge-led-side-mirror-turnsignal-lights-turn-signals-mirrors-accent-lamps-signalers/ Seems pretty simple and cheap! What do you all think? Not sure what other options are out there, but hte only down side I see to these is I'm not sure how much they will stick out. They won't be a flush installation but for the price......... -Russ
  6. Yea the size difference didn't affect the installation at all. I looked at the two bases and they looked identical to me, but I'm definitely not an expert. I think there has to be something slightly different since the 9005's went in almost immediately and I struggled for hours with two different sets of the 9006's. Hopefully the ebay ones work for you, keep us posted!
  7. Hey Timmer, I would give the DDM 9005 bulbs a shot. I had a lot of trouble with the 9006 bulbs as well and just gave the 9005's a try on Saturday. Got both bulbs installed in less than 5 minutes!! Compared to the 2+ hour struggle with the 9006's just to try and get to bulbs in, which did not work so well and I actually ended up breaking the return wire on a bulb. This way you at least get the quanltiy of the DDM kit and shouldn't have trouble putting the bulbs in. Either way I'll be looking to see how these bulbs work. -Russ
  8. Hey Tim, I did compare them as I was curious why these worked flawlessly for some and the 9006's were being so troublesome. They looked identical to me, the tabs were the same size and thickness. I know the halogens have different wattage and the end cap that you mentioned but these didn't have any of that. I will also say that these HID's are freakin' awesome!! Super bright white light everywhere! Definitely worth the frustration that I went through and would recommend the 9005 bulbs to anyone who's having trouble with the 9006's. -Russ
  9. Update: So I ordered a new DDM 55w 5k kit with both the 9005 & 9006 bulbs. Tried the 9005 bulbs and got them both installed with no problems!!!! Took about 5 minutes total which was fantastic. I also installed a Morimoto harness and can't wait until it gets dark to see what these babies look like. Already during the day they are brighter than the last kit I had installed so I'm hopeful for tonight. I'll post again later once it's dark. Thanks, -Russ
  10. The spokes are a little narrower than the Edge SEL which I like. I'm definitely a fan of the black / machined look on these cars. Is there any down side to using the hub centric rings? They seem pretty simple but I have never used them before just wanted to see if there were any negatives just in case. Thanks, -Russ
  11. I just saw a 2013 Explorer Sport with the 20" machined wheels and wow!!! I want those wheels for my Edge, they are exactly what I'm looking for. I don't know much about them yet, but was wondering if anyone saw any reasons why they wouldn't fit my '11 Edge? I attached a picture for those of you who may not have seen these yet. I'll be scouring ebay and other sites to pick up a pair of these as long as they fit! Thanks, -Russ
  12. I think that's because yours are type 1's. Seems that the type 2's are the only ones that require the resistors.
  13. Sorry to hijack, but if I plan on putting LED in all 4 turn signals do I only need the resistors in one location? i.e. Can I put the resistors in the front when I put the switchbacks in and have the rear's not hyper flash? Thanks, -Russ
  14. Hey Taz, I know Dan from Daytime is out of the office this week which may be why he hasn't responded to you yet. He was super responsive and provided me with superb customer service. Based off of my experience I would say that the response time for you is abnormal and not to be discouraged.
  15. Figured it out!!!!! I had been thinking about what I could have possibly done that would cause this all night and couldn't come up with anything. Then around 12:30 while trying to sleep it came to me out of now where. I hadn't tightened the ground wire back up from the driver side when I unstalled the first HID kit. I was planning on installing the new DDM kit and Morimoto harness but since I couldn't get the bulbs I never got to it. I had left the ground wire a little loose after the uninstallation for the new one but never tightened it back up when I called it quits. Tightened that sucker up this morning and all systems are go!! PHEW! You have no idea what was going through my head and how much of a nightmare this would be to figure out if it had been something else.
  16. The problem I'm having now is with the stock halogen and the rest of the driver side lights. Seems they are all connected and maybe the condensation is messing them up.
  17. I didn't take a real good look but if the bulb didn't have a good connection it would make sense why the headlight itself was dim but not the other lights. Are they all connected through the driver side socket? Hard to think that I cut anything since all I had in there was the HID bulb. Everything is not dry which could be the problem. I'm going to try and dry everything tomorrow and see if that helps. Hopefully a hair dryer will be sufficient..... Honestly this could have been happening for a few days since it was wet and I didn't notice because I don't normally see the front driver side of the car.
  18. mclellan - It's nice to not be alone but so many people are having no problems at all. Are you using 9006's or 9005's? I just ordered a pair of both from DDM but probably won't have them until next week. I'm gonna try the 9005's first and see if I have more luck. I posted another topic, don't think it's related, but now I'm having problems with all of the lights on the drivers side. They don't seem to be getting full power. Just adds to the list of the day!
  19. So after an unsuccessful attempt to install my DDM HID kit today I ended up reverting to the stock halogen's. I tested them out at night and now it seems that all of the driver side lights are not getting enough power. I first noticed this when I unlocked the car, the passenger side running lights and vertical led's came on but the driver side lights took an additional second and were slightly dim. Every time I unlock the vehicle after that they flicker and don't light up immediately. Also the headlight itself is very dim and nothing seems to be getting full power. I tried to attach a video but not sure if it will work. I did have another HID kit installed before today and some condensation did get inside of the driver side headlight, do you think this could be causing some electrical issues? If not, what could it be? I don't know what I could have done by just trying to put the bulb in. Thanks, -Russ Lighting Issue.MOV
  20. I actually just noticed that KC300 had a revision to the bulb installation diagram from his video. The video says that you should put the top two tabs in first and then push the tabs up to clear the bottom tab. Another post says to insert the two large tabs near the bottom first and then push down to clear the smaller tab. Looking at the light itself it seems the layout of the bulb in the video is correct, but maybe I was having trouble because I was pushing up instead of pushing down? Attached is a picture where you can see both versions, can someone confirm which is correct? I still don't know if I should go with a 9006 or 9005 for the next set. I'm thinking of ordering both, if they both fit anyway this way I'll have back up bulbs. This way I'll save on shipping from DDM as well which is pretty expensive.
  21. So I finally got around to installing the DDM 9006 kit and three hours later I still can't get one of the bulbs in. I tried trimming and notching the tabs because I read that it helped some people and still nothing. I ended up breaking one of the tabs off and now have to order a new set of bulbs again. I used kc300's video and tried to insert the two top tabs and then push up to get the bottom tab to set but it would not go no matter what I did. Really frustrating and I had to go back to the stock halogens for now. Since I have to order new buls anyway, should I just give the DDM 9005's a shot since the 9006's didn't work for the life of me? I don't know what the difference is between the two but it seems weird that the two are interchangable. Why would there be two types that are that close to eachother? I'm starting to think that I'm just not desgined to have HID's.......... Thanks, -Russ
  22. Brock is correct about kc300. I actually just purchased these and I have to say Dan was super responsive and the service thus far has been excellent!! I should receive them today or tomorrow and will install them as soon as I get them. From what everyone else is saying you should be more than happy with them. I changed out most of my other lights with LED's and the output doesn't compare to stock. If you get these direct instead of ebay it will actually be a little cheaper for you once you send the core's back. Definetaly check out this site, I'm sure Dan will take good care of you! http://www.daytimebrightlites.com/ -Russ
  23. I have to agree with Dingo that it would look better at the top of the lower air dam opening. I also don't know if it the single light that's throwing me off, maybe the asymmetrical look just doesn't do it for me. Maybe two 10 inch lights at the top of the lower air dam almost like fog lights would be better than one single unit. Either way, whatever gives you the light output you need!! -Russ
  24. Awesome! Looks like the +38mm offset ones will fit according to that site. I did fine an auction for the +38mm ones on ebay but the site stil says it doesn't fit.....weird. I think I found my wheels though!!
